Also here's an unpopular opinion since people keep bringing this up. The people mad that there aren't more mentions or clips of Simone (which I don't disagree with) are not the target demographic for these videos. While I was surprised they didn't mention the Biles, the gymnasts interviewed who are currently competing aren't doing a Biles. At the end of the day, if people want to watch stuff about Simone or any of the others I mentioned, there are already tons of interviews and videos about just them. This isn't a documentary about the GOAT on each event, it is a collection of personal stories. There is nothing insulting about a thematic choice that doesn't affect the progression of the documentary/story whatsoever.

Set up my springboard & measured my run for my vault. I was a sprinter so had a lot of power. The coach overseeing vault practice saw how the long the distance between springboard & vault was & decided to move it closer because 'it was too dangerous'. It was my usual set up. But she didn't tell me, so I ran full speed & overshot. I can still hear the snapping in my lumbar spine. It was devastating 😞 I'm lucky I got to walk again but that was the end of my sporting career. It took a lot of years to come to terms with. But it could've been worse.

It is so telling that the dad has the right motive. He said she is evolving into the choice she's making. To be encouraged is a tricky way to have the child live her choice, not the parent's missed goals.

I think Oksana Chusovitina is amazing and a fantastic role model. It seems that she has never lost her enthusiasm of the sport. As I write, she has just retired at the age of 46, but I expect she will still go into the gym and enjoy flying.

And Simone Biles with the Biles Vault and working on a Double Pike Vault 😱😱😱😱

I know , but I hope she debuts her TTY
@brodypenn3 жыл бұрын
@@madibea8644 she’s not going to do the TTY, double pike, and probably not the biles vault either. She’ll probably just do the cheng and amanar and maybe she’ll throw something in event finals if she’s feeling by risky.
@madibea86443 жыл бұрын
@@brodypenn I completely understand how unlikely it is that she does debut a TTY but I still would love to see her do it in competition even though she probably won’t

Anyone else find it weird that Kerri strug isn't a part of this episode or documentary at all? Anyone know why? It's too late for me to do a deep dive on the internet for the night!

tbh, on a related note, I'm surprised Dominique Moceanu hasn't been featured/interviewed more in the last couple years. She was one of the very first to talk publicly about the abuse she experienced within USAG and the Karolyi Ranch, as well as at the hands of her parents, and she was totally blacklisted for it at the time. The media painted her as spoiled and attention-seeking, even after she won her emancipation suit and control of her finances. Now she's a successful coach practicing positive coaching techniques, so it feels weird that she, too, seems to have been largely left out of this conversation (at least, as far as I've noticed), despite being one of the first "whistleblowers".

Molly McCarthy probably because the Kerri strug vault has been a main focus in several other podcasts and docs in the last few years. I don’t know if there’s anything new they can add to that discussion, and mentioning it briefly would’ve taken up a lot of time when it’s clear they already edited a lot of people’s footage out. Pretty sure heavy medals podcast goes in depth, if you’re looking to learn more.

Great video. Really love Ellie Black and her presentation and skills. I was asked my favorite gymnastic event and nothing more beautiful than Makayla Maroney and her 2012 vault...But I would like to see the girls get the chance to have a pro career and a opportunity to do NCAA. Can only imagine some of these beautiful stars at UCLA.

She has every right to be proud of her accomplishments. She was one of the best in the world for a while-I think she deserves some bragging rights! If that’s how she introduces herself in casual conversation that’s another thing, but the interviewer was definitely asking her about her accomplishments-they need to introduce her as an expert, especially since she’s not an active elite
@@ddpg9976 Not really. I don't see 5 year olds doing double backs on floor or doing the Kim on beam. 5 year olds usually don't do saltos on vault.
