Hi! Yeah, I would say these are good to start with. Start with the pronunciation and introducing / asking names / how someone is. I would also familiarise yourself with ‘haben’ and ‘sein’ and then watch ‘nominative’ and ‘accusative’ videos. Then you can form basic sentences! After that, progress to regular and irregular present tense verbs. Good luck!

Isnt die Bucherei a bookstore, and not a library? Library is a Bibliothek? Or am I wrong here?
@HerrFerguson10 ай бұрын
It’s a good thought, but ‘die Bücherei’ and ‘die Bibliothek’ are both ‘library’. ‘Bücherei’ is used more for local, smaller libraries and ‘Bibliothek’ is a much larger library. ‘Die Buchhandlung’ is a bookshop. Hope that helps?
@Phoenix-np1iu7 ай бұрын
Hi what is the difference between Bibliothek and Buecherei?

‘die Bücherei’ and ‘die Bibliothek’ are both ‘library’. ‘Bücherei’ is used more for local, smaller libraries and ‘Bibliothek’ is a much larger library, such as that of a university. I hope that helps!
@Phoenix-np1iu7 ай бұрын
@@HerrFerguson ok i assumed it was a difference like that though i guessed it the opposite way around haha thank you
@rarearyantroops4 күн бұрын
@@Phoenix-np1iu The only distinction is that "Bücherei" is from Germanic origin, while "Bibliothek" is a loan word from Greek. However, the words have a common root and are also interchangeable. It's similar to english guard and ward.

Hi mr feerguson i have a quick question. Is AN a dative preposition? Like in the sentance: ich studiere an der Humboldt umiversitat?
@HerrFerguson Жыл бұрын
Hallo! It can take both the ACCUSATIVE and the DATIVE. It’s what’s called a ‘dual preposition’ (eine Wechselpräposition). I go through them in my accusative and dative videos, if you’re interested!
@darklight5316 Жыл бұрын
@@HerrFerguson I have actually watched the video and i know that if there is movement it takes the accusative and if not dative... But i didnt know if this counts because some words have dual meanings in german.. But thank you for the clariffication.

@AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn6 ай бұрын
As it is basically a female version of "Port", as you can see through this gender transition: der Port (male) der/das Ort (place) (still male, but some non-binary) das Tor (gate) (non-binary) das/die Toor (quarter trans) die/das Tör (half trans) die Tür (door) (fully transgender female)

Also, for food, you have "Die Speise", which means "dish", and "der Fraß", which refers to rotten or low-quality food. Same with cars, you have "das Auto", which is the general term for car (as it is short for automobile), but you have "Der Wagen", which refers to a sports or a luxury car, and you got "Die Karre", which literally transfers to a cart, such as a shopping cart or a cart that horses draw, as it refers to a broken-down car that can easily be compared to the other carts.
