What is the research you are referring to?. Please put it here thank you

Thanks for sharing this Michael! One of these things you just needed to hear to keep a positive mindset while actively recovering. Is 6 months an avg recovery time (doing physiotheraphy) based on your experience? I'm in month 4 (but actually got injured 10 months ago)

Very interesting, I have heard similar info and it encourages me to be optimistic. Essentially I have a prolapsed disc L4/L5 I have never had pain in the back, rather I have had referred pain in my calf ( lack of sensation) and foot, which has been the worst symptom. Surgeon has suggested because I am very active i go to the gym 5 times per week, cycling a couple of days per wk and generally very active, his advice is to avoid surgery. However it has been over a year and although my calf is much improved, my foot is just the same. I have had lots of different treatments but not much improvement with foot. I have heard McKensie Technique is worth checking out ? Also wondered if you have heard about centralisation, this is a technique were you try to get the pain back to where it is coming from ie the back ? I have been on medication ( Gabapentin ) which I am not too happy about and will be coming off soon, but I dread having that awful discomfort back in my foot. Any ideas would be most grateful.

This video has given me lot of hope. I'm 21 and I got disc bulge due to weighted squats. I'm hopeful that it'll resolve.

@@smith2186 better man, and what has helped me was not to think about it so much, all my days were: looking in the internet what to do, looking for exercises, supplements, i just thought every second of the day about it and it got worse worse and worse and i was completely depressed. Then i started to play videogames again (what i didnt do for like 6 months because i alwayw avoided to sit) i played like 3 hours and i had back pain but the fact that i was distracted for the 3 hours has helped me, so i started playing videogames and after like 1 week i could play them for 3-4 hours so my body got used to sit again, that has helped me cause now i could go the bar or Restaurant with my friends and get distracted there and so on, now after 1 month that i dont think the entire day about not sitting, and not doing other things i feel 50% better, but for real 50% is very much believe me, 3 months ago my whole day was watching surgery videos dreaming to do one so i could get my life back but the thing that helped the most was quitting this big stress in my head. I know its almost impossible i couldnt do it for half a year but try to commit to it, watch netflix or play games and distract yourself

Well, I’m waiting…. I’ve been in excruciating pain and have been bedridden for over a month! I can’t walk or sit up, the nerves to my ribs are pinched!

hello! would it be possible to link me article you're referring to? I'm a physio-therapy student currently dealing with a disc herniation & wanted to educate myself as much as possible so I can properly treat my issue. Thanks!

what research? what is the doi?

I have disc seqestration at L4 L5 with a significant impingment on L5. Extending inferiorly within the subarticular recess on the left measuring 12x14mm. I have severe sciatic pain in my left leg and haven't been able to feel my foot or parts of my leg for months now. I really hope this can heal itself because surgery is not an option I wish to pursue, Will report back in the future on progress so others can help make informed decisions about treatment and if this research is plausible.

Hopefully you are under medical supervision. I would be concerned about the loss of feeling? My Spine Dr indicated that was a serious cause for concern, and a major indicator for surgery earlier than waiting. Personally I have a 20mm hernia between L4-L5. I have had severe pain down my left leg for 4-5 weeks. After complete rest, and lots of pain management, I am now getting longer periods where I am pain free. I am hoping to start Physical Therapy next week, and hoping that doesnt cause a relapse, but is the start to a more complete recovery. My Spine Dr indicated that the loss of strength in my left leg may come back over time ( 6-12-18 months) but that the numbness I feel may be permanent :( Good Luck on your road to recovery.

@@stevewort it’s definitely concerning, I’ll most probably need surgery. I have days where it comes good but then it grabs me again and I can’t walk.

@@rwilko9525 right there with you. I am about 6 weeks in now. No longer need narcotic pain killers, but am also not able to do anything. Just started physical therapy. Every day is different, some good , pain free, and I feel I am moving fairly well. Still not able to stand or walk for more than a few minutes. Other days I am in a lot of discomfort and don’t want to do much other than seek the next pain free position to sit / lie in. Good luck with your recovery.

I have the same problem ...i had back pain and leg pain ... Now i feel pain in evening and my calf muscle get tight ....i want to know why it is happening ...i have nerve compression at l5 s1 diffuse dessicated disc bulge
@Michaelbloom206 ай бұрын
The causes are usually due to lifestyle factors such as too much sitting, heavy lifting, poor posture, lack of movement in general. Sorry to say it’s not an easy thing to fix with a pill or a short term approach

@@Michaelbloom20 I had pain in the legs but now when I perform one particular exercise which is cobra pose .... I feel tightness in both of my leg ...no pain ... Only tightness , as soon as I stop the exercise my calf feels normal ..why is it so ?? Can you give your opinion 🙏
@Michaelbloom205 ай бұрын
Cobra pose creates a squeezing together of the facet joints. These joints have many nerve fibres in and around the joint. The poses may be compressing nerve fibres resulting in your sciatica. The take out is that in my opinion you should stop cobra pose. Pain and other symptoms such as numbness are useful feedback tools to guide you what NOT to do in many cases.

But how to get the body to keep them inside?
@Michaelbloom206 ай бұрын
That’s true. But generally taking care of your core muscle groups, moving regularly, and focusing on posture will help a lot with this.
