There are many forms of abuse, the physical form just leaves visible proof. Verbal abuse goes undetected unless you’re around to hear it or the victim gets a recording of it, as most people don’t talk about the verbal aspect since some people don’t consider it as serious as an issue, or some people end up believing the words that are said to them to tear them down and dehumanize them.

@@jaybird5218 to be fair it isn’t as big of a problem since it is significantly less likely to kill you than physical abuse. It is still something that should be taken seriously and can often escalate to other forms of abuse, but it’s not as likely to cause PTSD or permanent damage as other forms. They aren’t really equal but they are both serious.
@jaybird52182 ай бұрын
@@sarahnelson8836 didn't say they were equal, but verbal and mental abuse can actually cause forms of PTSD and can stick with a person for the rest of their lives just like being physically abused can create ptsd to touch or to people of the same gender. It might not be common, but a different form of ptsd can still develop even if someone was never hit but was always abused mentally and emotionally (edit: the usual case is constant verbal abuse, but there are other forms of abuse that are more common in relationships with a partner rather than with a general individual you’d be in contact with) Edit: same gender as the attacker who abused them, thought I should clarify

I haven't seen the full show, but from the dozens of clips I've seen of this set of characters, I find this pair so tragic. Even though Beth Ann is putting on an act to get info and convince April out of seeing her husband, the way they talk makes me feel like they could've been actual friends under different circumstances and if April was just a generally better person. The way April looks at her at the end is so understanding.
@ThatBlackGirlMagic3 ай бұрын
They do end up being actual friends. It's so sad but lovely.
@scarletv73483 ай бұрын
:) Spoilers ahead for some things: In the end, Beth and April actually do end up not just as close friends but basically co-parents for April's child. Beth's cheating husband (Rob) got April pregnant and he won't leave his wife (Beth) to be with her. Beth orchestrates a way to get rid of Rob and her and April run off together with the money from selling the marital assets and house, plus probably Rob's life insurance money too. He got what he deserved though, he had previously cheated on Beth with a different woman and his affair partner was the one who basically killed Beth and Rob's young daughter. It was an accident but it was The Other Woman who was responsible for it, not Beth. But Rob blamed the child's death on Beth so that he could hide his affair. He openly blamed her for years knowing it was actually his cheating that killed their child. Rob had a long history of putting Beth down about every single little thing and keeping her self-esteem low anyway. He was a narcissistic and hypocritical jerkface on top of being a serial cheater. Ultimately, Beth either discovered or was told all of the above during her investigations and took her revenge in a way that looked like it wasnt her doing - but it did what needed to be done. And it got rid of a secondary characters physically abusive husband too that they all despised. Setting that womans character free as well. Then fast forward a bit - April and Beth and April's child all end up moving away to pursue April's singing career. I like to think April sang and Beth played piano together with their shared kiddo for years after and lost not a moment of sleep. ❤

April is so sweet, genuinely friendly and amiable girl it makes one wonder why would someone like her even date a married man? It's outrageous for a decent girl. She's not even in love. The line of thinking of only the one in the marriage is at fault is so weird. If you’re aware that someone is in a relationship and make an active choice to still pursue them you’re just as bad. It’s a different scenario if you didn’t know but that’s not the case here

I think people mainly say that because many people are overly agressive toward the non-married party. Like, in my opinion you would have to be an asshole if you get into a long side-relationship with someone who is married (one night stand are assholish imo) but the biggest 1 000 000 000/10 asshole here is the cheater. I agree with the blonde. Now I’m not saying sleeping with a married man is right. But she knows marrying a man means to take your dreams, your skills, your education, your aspirations, put them into a jar and leave it on top of the cabinet. Your husbands dreams have to be supported by you and to a lot of men out there, the only dream a woman should have is to be a mom and a wife. You can’t have other dreams outside of mother/wife hood if it means you can’t be 100% involved with your husband and kids.
