I love learning all I can about kicker you guys have always been my favorite go-to Subs I have started off in 95 with one of your kicker round competition 18" subs 10 years later I graduated into competition stuff. I brought two of your Solo X dual 2- ohm voice coils 18in Subs. I had a professional box build in the bed of my Chevy Avalanche the box was from the back of the tailgate but Saving Room for for extra batteries all the way to the back opening behind the back seat. I had each chamber build with 8.5 cubic feet of space. When I tell you that it drops mega Low Lows it really did. I could play all the way down to 19 Hertz the type of stuff that can move windows blocks away. I shattered my front windshield and bust out two of my side windows and cracked a house window in the neighborhood I was riding through playing it at low volume. I was pushing 158 dB's on the meter. People was telling me they can hear and feel me comming three to four minutes before I got there. And people that work at the Mega Super Walmarts told me they can hear me all the way in the back of the store and I will be pretty much in the middle of the parking lot. I heard on your channel that you guys were bringing the solo X 18s back out. Please tell me you guys are still doing this. @@NemonicsRacing sorry but kicker is just as over priced. I would only buy Memphis older stuff. The pre 2008 models. I would rather have a mojo over a solo 15 any day and a m3 over a l7 as well. I ran both in the 2000s. Kicker is just like Memphis now. Over priced sub's. For half the price of the new solo's I can buy a Sundown z or x series and they get down on the lows. There's plenty other companies like psi etc that has kicker beat on performance and price

Sorry for my ignorance but I'm an old school SPL guy from the early Gates era. My problem is with the resonant woofer frequency at low 30's and you talking about setting records. The records are being set at much higher frequencies 65hz +. So my point is you build your vehicle solid as possible your resonant frequency is nowhere close to low 30's. Most are 65hz+ forcing you to build and having to make the woofer to play at higher frequencies to cab match resonance. In my opinion for a record breaking woofer it should be developed to play at its max power at a higher frequency like some others. I do in fact understand sales and markets for an everyday consumer wanting that earth shaking bass but a straight SPL version that plays strongest at 60 - 80 hz and can maintain voice coil cooling and strength would make box design better with cab tuning and the numbers will show. Like I said I'm old school an one of the first to 170db movement but we did it with 6 15's not 72 woofers no offence I knew Alma very well and have always had a great respect for your products!!!

Hey Jason. Setting records may well happen. As you know it's going to depend a great deal on the quality of the entire vehicle - tuning, power supply, insulation, enclosure, etc... no one factor can be overlooked. If it's any indication, we tested a Solo X 12" at RMS (2,000 watts) 20-80Hz Pink Noise for 4 hours straight. Zero issues. And it ran almost 200 degrees cooler than the old school Solo X on our Klippel measurements.

Back IN the day I was rocking kickers L5s. I loved how good they sound, the bass was loud, clear and punchy. Eventually my SUV got broken into and took everything. (I'm talking over 10 years ago) Recently I aquired some skar subs and amp because I missed that breath taking low end bass, even though They're higher wattage they just dont sound and perform As good as my old kickers. I miss my kickers, and I won't be happy until I go back to kicker.

For everybody complaining that it's made in China not made in America anymore. I can say from experience China is capable of making garbage, is also capable of making excellent equipment. Depending on who they're working for, what their budget is and who they got their instructions from. Just because your Sony television that cost $4,000 is made in China, doesn't mean that it's poor quality. People are more interested in price, they don't care if the United States gets flushed down the toilet unfortunately.

I started with kicker, there good woofers until they start tearing in the corners, but for the price I got Audiopipe instead. Kicker is to expensive for what it is. For the price of an L7 you can get a Sundown Audio. Skar, Deaf Bounce, American Bass, NVX, Savard or CT Sounds are other nice brands to consider.

November 2nd. 2020. In the world of technology considered an old video. Perhaps not necessarily in the world of woofers. What I'm getting at is not hot off the presses. Not fresh from the oven. Built my sons first system that sounded better than anything that i had. Being a young man that hung out with friends with well to do parents. I got complaints that they never heard of this brand before. After getting over the aggravation, I took everything out and replace it with one 12 inch Kicker L7 I don't remember the amplifier I used it was a monoblock Kicker I don't recall the wattage taking years ago. I didn't hear any difference in sound but he was happy. If not a good kid he would have ended up with nothing. Including the car i surprised him with when he came home from school. Growing up I never experienced any luxuries. I had to work for everything I had. I definitely spoiled my children.

You mentioned you make it better and better and bigger and badder but any reason why the RMS was lowered. The older 18 had 5k and the 12 had 2.5k and 3.5inch voice coil but this is 2k and 3inch voice coil. Is it to make the speaker last longer? But you would definitely be getting better performance from the tighter motor tolerance

Imma buy this sub... In a 12" a single 12" and then Imma put it up against one of my 1st gen Rockford Fosgate Power T2 15 D2s... And see if it can actually beat it in a spl test.... Because I got a cutout of a T2 12" I got from a friend that has connections at Rockford and ended up with some subwoofer display cut outs.. and I be damned if this X doesn't look the same internally.. lol 🤣 almost identical except being a square... Giant Triple stack motor giant pole piece 4" coils... Same just as the original T2... I got the 1st gen Solo Xs and I put one of em up against on of my old school 1st gen T2 15"s silver top.. and it couldn't beat it... The T2 was considerably louder... So imma see if this one is any different than before I put it against one of the T2s imma put it against the original Solo X 12" and my HCCA 12.2 and my diamond D9 12" and then Zv4 12" and then Sundown Xv2 15" and Zvx 12. And then I'll throw it against the 1st gen T2 and my new T2 16" and see if it can hold up against em.. the old 1st gen T2 15" D2 still is the loudest out of the T2s even the knew ones.... So imma see if it holds true still against the new solo X....

Why do people give kicker a hard time? They are one of the few car audio companies around that have engineers rather than using old off patent designs for amps and woofers. Most of these boutique brands (there are exceptions of course) just rebadge the same stuff out of the same build shop and have no customer support. Good to see kicker still kicking ass.

I wonder if they will create a 8" solo X that would be bad ass lol. Im on a 8" subwoofer binge atm. I'm running sundown X 8v3 series in our main car and in my work truck I'm running two sundown SAv3 8"s . And now Jacob the owner of Sundown is creating 3 more high powered 8"s he has prototypes of the U series 8" and the Zv5 8"s and the king of bass the God of subwoofers the Sundown Nightshade series will have a 8" version. These things do 40mm xmax........!! Prob more on the night shade. The SA series does 2.5" of travel the X series does almost 4" of travel and the others will do more the U series prob will be between the SA n X in travel n power. The SA v1.5 to the V3 8" models have a very underrated power rating 500rms but ppl have been throwing 2k to them with no issues and one guy threw over 6k to a SAv2 8" with a orion hcca 3500D.1 that amp pushes a insane 8k @ 1ohm it was dyno tested multiple times and it done over 8k at 1ohm and it's rated for 3,500 watt but it does over that at 4ohm.... And that SAv2 8" took it... The xv3 series is a 800rms 8" it can take way more easily.. and a single SA V1.5 8" the first Sundown SA 8" prototype 7 yrs ago done a 147 sealed doors open it done a 149.9 then it eventually done a 155 with more power n a few revisions. The X series 8" done a 154 or 156 db a single 8' in sundowns test Jeep in the sniper box it done that on 6k I believe it was around 6k before it blew but it took shot after shot of 5k burst for hours before it died they never let it cool down. It was basically back to back. And their is a video of the same guys in a spl vehicle took a SA 8" v2 or v3 spl version a single 8" it done a 160+ yes a damn 8" and they got a retarded high score with a X series 6.5".... Now if they can do it I'm sure you guys can to... I mean their is some incredible 8" Subs out there. Like the CT sounds Meso 8" it's a monster. N the Sundown SA V3 8" and Sundown Xv3 8" and the Hutchinson eta 8" which is a bad ass neo motorized 8" it looks absolutely amazing very beautiful sub. And it gets very loud and is 800rms but that is underrated. And then Skar makes good 8" subs the little EVL 8" and the Zvx 8" are good loud subs. I know you all make the L7 8"s and a few other 8"s but I'd like to see better built 8"s by kicker. Ones that can take alot of power and not blow up. You all can get ahold of a Sundown SA 8" n x 8" or CT sounds Meso 8" and study them ect to see how they are doing big numbers with small drivers. These things have insane travel n power handling and motor force.. I remember when kicker was the brand to have and MTX audio as well you guys where the top brands right beside ROCKFORD Fosgate. The Kings of car audio in the 2000s n late 90s. I dunno what happened but kicker went down hill. Your entry level comps are horrible they sound horrible and can't take power have very little travel 10mm xmax????... 300 watt max??? Door speakers can get louder then them n handle more power... I dont know what happened to you guys but the quality went down hill badly. And y'all got rid of the L5 series!!?? Should have kept em for ppl that want a good loud square sub n not have to pay a arm n leg for the L7. And the power handling needs to go up. The L7 is prob your most popular sub atm. Y'all need to give it a bigger motor and flat wound coils black aluminum formers flat wound Tinsel leads 8g terminals atleast 200oz motors and it wouldn't hurt to have options like DD and Sundown offer. Like SPL spider packs and Super charging the pole piece like DD does. And direct Tinsel leads with 8g OFC wire would be hella nice. And the ability to order custom color cones would be a nice option... If y'all would beef up your L7 and CVX and get rid of the comp and make the comp VR your entry level sub and make it a 750rms 2.5" or even 3" coil you all would do so much better.. I used to buy kicker Subs but I haven't in a long time now.. because of quality n sound issues.. I use sundown Skar and CT and Resilient sounds and DD I won't use any other brand of Sub anymore because of quality issues

Mounting flange is to narrow I would like to see a wider one with lots of mounting surface and holes. That paper cone looks cheap and flimsy the original had a stiff and reinforced cone. Use carbon fiber, or kevlar, or some hybrid cone Kicker. The motor looks good though. Surround is nice. Sorry but after all this time I'm not impressed. Its just not enough and not innovative enough for Kicker. I don't think your going to beat anybody with this as is.

Love the look of the woofer but I was hoping for summer a 5k RMS beast when you said 2,000 watts of power I thought why are you taking a step back the other solo wax you guys made that was fantastic in the 18 inch model was 5,000 Watts RMS like I said I love the look but I want something that can handle some big big power I will be running two of my 20K amplifiers on two of my 18s I would love to have a set of 18-in solo x woofers again!

That was my problem with Kicker. I wish they should be able to keep up with big boys like Sundown, Deaf Bounce, etc. in SPL and taking names. Kicker did great back in the days and that made me a big fan of Kicker in the first place.

It may be true for other subs, but not for this one. There is no need to remove parts of the speaker.

Depends as much (if not more) on the enclosure, your skills as an installer and tuner, and your wallet. Deep bass systems require gobs of power and incredibly well insulated vehicles. Playing subharmonics are where the big budget builds - that are made specifically for this purpose - tend to shine.

@@KICKER-AUDIO yeah that's so very unfortunate. My solution was to go buy an L7 q class a few weeks ago. Super excited to put it in to replace my q class 10. Got an enclosure being built by MBE for it. I had to buy a car audio shops floor model since the L7 q class 12s are virtually sold out across the board. Tough times, hope it gets back to normal for you guys soon!
