Hi Dr. Johnston... 👋 Thank you for the upload. Yes, this is a terrible story. This is sad but true. Those that show to outsiders that they are so religious and faithful hide such hideous secrets. It make me feel so conflicted with my religious views anymore. I don’t want to lose the love of faith that I have for God. My parents instilled such a great love of God in me. The problem is that so many men/woman tend use religion and doctrine in the wrong way ruining it for others. One bad experience can remove a person from religion for life. The poor wife. She must have had such a hard time dealing with this and keeping quiet for so long. I’m glad she found her voice and a way out. I can imagine she felt a sense of betrayal as this life was all she had been taught and had known. Thank you for bringing this story to light. I’m sure many woman have had to endure this.

Faith focussed on man's actions will fail. Faith must be focussed on God alone. The Bible itself says there are many wolves in sheep's clothing. If Satan can get you to doubt your faith through the actions of false converts, he will have accomplished his goal.

Having experience with evangelicals, progressive churches and a whole lot in between (and those really outside the lines), I think one of your guest’s best points is in the behaviour of the secular world. Culture and ideology go hand in hand. Most of our churches are racially integrated-they didn’t used to be. The more the secular world (who has more jurisdiction over our activities) moves to make domestic violence and other egregious acts a secular sin, eventually the churches follow. Luckily there are some churches that lead but in all faiths, it’s important to know that there is a standard of behaviour that we require as civil participants regardless of ideology. (Personally, I think any faith worth its salt will be able to stand up to any truth. It’s always the coverup that shows a lack of faith.) My experience with evangelicals and their faith communities makes me want to stand and cheer for this mother who gave her child a bit of power back in giving him a civil voice. Thanks for being a real mom. Great show, Dr. Johnston. Thanks.
