Unmatched: Brains and Brawn Review: The Heaviest of Hitters

I have most if the Unmatched sets (and this one ordered), but it feels like there's some power-creep going here - especially in these Marvel sets. I can't imagine some early characters like Sinbad or Ingen having any chance against She-Hulk or Dr. Strange. All these new powers and abilities are cool, but i worry it literally puts them in a class by thenselves. 20 health and the abilitry to move 4 AND do 9 damage (potentially)? Wow.

While the older fighters do tend to be weaker (especially King Arthur and Jekyll and Hyde) you also have characters like Bigfoot, Medusa, and Sherlock who are still incredibly strong. I think restoration games has just gotten a lot better at balancing fighters.

I can't believe the combo of She-Hulk being able to move to any starting space for "free" then slam with an attack of 9. That means if you end your turn next to She-Hulk or a starting space at all you open yourself up to a 9 attack lol (or she can just leap toward). Power creep is too real when compared to cobble & fog where the characters have to play more strategically to get advantages than just being able to 9 attack

This is my first unmatched. I just played spidey and my wife she hulk. She smoked me and I felt I had no chance. Edit. Round two. I won with spidey. 🤷‍♀️

@@odiedodieuk I think things are generally balanced within the characters in a box, but I don't think any of the original 4 characters (save possibly Medusa, if she can stay away) or most of the other early sets would have a chance.

Hi guys, I checked with ZeroSkatr12, the main content producer and best player, he states that starting spaces are any space with a numbered diamond. Pure and simple, even if said space was empty to start the game

It seems clear that there's no such thing as an "active starting space" to me. They are are starting spaces if they have a number right?

I'm with you; there is nothing defining active/inactive starting spaces, they are all just starting spaces.

I am assuming an active starting space would have to do with player count as spaces 3 and 4 are not used in a 2 player game.

Have you tried these against characters from sets like Cobble and Fog? Interested to know if they are balanced across the wider range or if they are just balanced against other Marvel sets.

Ought to be good all across, Cobble & Fog's got some very serious hitters in Sherlock and Dracula.

My issue with the Marvel Unmatched isn't with the gameplay or mechanisms but with the Character Selection. All cool choices but there are barely if any Villains. Still really cool and sucks that this is the final one with all the characters they can choose from but still a solid set.

i'd love to see a character that's full agressive; high damage and mobility but you have cero defense cards

Kinda disappointed at the Spider Man miniature pose. Not that I’m hating but not sure why She-Hulk is in this set. Captain America would’ve been a better choice IMO. Great review 🫶

Paying for the IP was probably too high. Doctor strange, spiderman, and cap in one set, while cool would make them no money most likely

I imagine they went with She-Hulk for a few reasons. 1. The show that came out recently 2. Justin Jacobson, one of the owners of restoration games was/is a lawyer, so a lawyer character might appeal to them. 3. Diversity, they don't want a set of all white males 4. People on the Restoration team like She-Hulk 5. They felt she would better translate into a deck for the purpose of the game

I'd love to see captain America and Thor. Evan of then have a a weapon they can throw and or use. Captain America can throw his shield for damage, or can hold/recover it for a defensive boost. Something similar for Thor.

Two many big names. Cap could sell a set on his own or even be a single on his own. Best to save him in case they come back to it.

Is She-Hulk the new Medusa? Is She-Hulk overpowered?

No probably not at all, of the three in the set Doctor Strange is actually the one who might be OP. She-Hulk being a solo melee character with move 2 prevents her from being nearly Medusa levels.

@@goldengaruda8935I have to give a hard disagree. Her ability is what pushes her into Medusa range as well as the mobility provided her. She will hit hard for free and then have actions to deal more damage. She gets card draw off of cards that keep her free hits very heavy. Absolutely love her.
