I am so happy to checked out Fred Again before doing your analysis of the Mash up. The saying goes, jack of all trades, master of none. Ren defied that saying as he is a master of all things music. Thank you for reaction!

Don't know but the ending repeatedly makes me cry. The voice, the look out of the window, the looks on his face and the almost choking and trembling at the end. 🥺❤

One of the best things about being a Ren fan is he keeps introducing us to music (and musicians) we might otherwise never hear. I love that he wants everyone to shine.

So, i like ren. But i LOVE Fred Again. Like, i listened to nothing but him for over a month. His boiler room set is my workout playlist. I'm autistic, and i am very bad at processing emotions. And the main way im able to just dwell in emotion and process what I'm feeling is music. And sometimes I listen to specific songs if i want to feel a particular emotion. Fred Again made me feel in ways i didn't even think were possible. And Ren just fucking broke me, man.

What I love most is that Ren said he learned so much from you, Chris. And now you're listening to him explaining how much he's doing right. Kind of circle of voice and admiration and learning from each other. It's inspiring to see that even a professional can still learn from a self-learned professionalist and see the amazing things he can do.. Does that make sense?

Great reaction Chris! There is a video of Ren from his Twitch stream where he just jams some great songs (it's called ''Ren ~ Spontaneous Stream Jam''). I think it would be a great reaction because it's 100% raw.

This version haunts my dreams. It’s brilliance and pure emotion. I can appreciate your technical breakdown and intelligence, but I think Ren is so good BECAUSE he sings from a place of emotion. It reminds me of early Grunge (before it was “grunge”) when we all just related to the overall emotional intensity. Bless Ren. We need this so much now.

I'm an oldie too😊Ren is the most amazing musical artist I've ever seen. His diversity, honesty, message he is spreads, his heart, his musical genius, his guitar playing, his passion, strength, the way he connects with fans, his independent status as a recording artist etc etc, makes him just almost unbelievably super human, and yet he is the most open and real human I've seen for my whole life. So happy to have discovered him, never too late to be inspired by such an artist, so happy to be watching his journey 💕

I was so excited to hear that Ren was going to retake Fredagain……I love Fredagain and I thought Ren’s song choices were inspired. Ren paid homage to Fred but at the same time he told his story too. This has been on repeat since it dropped….and I’ve been full of excitement one minute, having goosebumps and crying the next. It would be amazing if there was a Fred and Ren collaboration. Loved this 💜🔥

In his interviews, he's mentioned how doing beatbox and using some beatbox techniques, has helped him be able to do intricate vocalizations. Additionally, he uses almost any free time practicing repeatedly to improve tempo and intonation/enunciation. He'll put on a metronome and work on increasing his speed, etc.

Thank you so much for actually doing research on Fred and watching his tiny desk concert. I was getting really frustrated watching other reactions and people not even realising these were covers of Fred’s songs and crediting Ren for the lyrics. Loved your reaction Chris. The way Ren sings is so beautiful. He sizzles and his tone is magical. The way Ren uses his chest voice, gut breath and guttural cracks and breaks; then switches in and out of his vibrato and head voice is stunning. He’s so free he passes on that liberation to everyone listening. He loves his O’s in a playful way then dips and taps into his truthful emotional reservoir tells everyone just how much his music means to him and how much he wants it to make a difference. His mission is to make people connect and feel, then subtly ask everyone without ever really asking to “pass it on”.

10:57 Ren drops out of singing completely just for one word - "lost". A few seconds earlier, he'd been repeating the line 'I've been lost' all with melody but then drops to speaking just for that one word. It was very quick but it was there. It was a perfect emotive/creative choice, I thought.

Fred again needs to hear this!! Ren took 5 different of Fred’s EDM tracks and completely transformed them seamlessly into an emotional journey culminating in the “I’ve been lost for so long. But I’m really trying.” You can feel every ounce of emotion - especially as he glances out at the Calgary skyline. He’s been so far from home without the ability to perform for over a year. Ren is unlike any other artist and I cannot wait to hear all of the new material he is planning on releasing this year!!
