@phoebetonkin8020 you won't really understand until you have a child. I hope that one day you are blessed enough to have one and experience the beauty of it all. The love you have for your child will be like nothing you've felt before. Don't let the fear of what can happen stop you from creating a family. That was my fear, too, until I had my daughter.

I don’t know how these nurses don’t cry every time haha. The moment that precious baby emerges, I cry. Edit: to all the Karen’s in the comments that seem to think my comment was some how ignorant, it was more of a figure of speech. Obviously nurses are professionals. I’ve worked with low functioning autistic children for over 10 years, I understand setting aside emotions while on the job. Carry on with your lives

You can do it mama! I've done it twice unmedicated and yes the contractions hurt but honestly once the baby is coming the pain isn't the main focus anymore and everything just happens so fast. Seriously once that head is through, the rest is a breeze and you'll be holding your little one and it's like nothing else matters.

You are a total badass mama! You laboured so beautifully! I was so upset for you when the nurses started to put your feet in the stirrups and lay you completely back, even though you asked twice to keep pushing on your side. She even said you could go back to your side, knowing full well that wouldn't be the case. They did that for the sole convenience for the doctor and it was incredibly frustrating. And telling you to hold your breath and coaching you to push, also unnecessary, your body knows what to do and would birth without doing that. Anyway, what an awesome, inspiring birth vlog and a reminder to me (and others) how important it is to really advocate for ourselves during labour/delivery. Congrats!

Thank you so much for sharing your story! Also, watching the nurses set up the table so you were flat on your back with your legs crazy splayed in the air was totally alarming. I recognize that is standard in the US, but it looked so uncomfortable and so counter-intuitive as to how it would be most effective to delivery. It totally freaks me out about my own delivery. Super annoying how you asked to be on your side twice and they said yeah yeah and still stuck you flat on your back in the worst position to give birth. Flat on your back increases risk of tears and it’s more painful and closes the pelvic inlet. I will never give birth in a hospital ever again.

I agree, I've birthed 3 babies naturally on all fours (out of 4), fast no complications..back is the most painful way to give birth 💯...I tried to birth my 3rd baby on my back ended up on my side trying to flip onto all fours and his shoulder got stuck. Felt like a cow having a calf tugged, turned and pulled out of me, Only wanted to try it just to change it up..couldn't flip over in time. Didn't make that mistake with #4...

I thought that too, u should be able to birth however u want to. Also I dont know why a doc turns up last minute and get paid to do the exact same thing midwives can do. In Australia it's very common to have midwife's do it all, pregnancy, birth and post birth and they are amazing.

In tears watching this. I had my boy 19 years ago, birth went fine, but I felt so alone, stressed and isolated. His "dad" was just a self centered prick who only cared about himself. He would come into hospital stinking of alcohol and then go to sleep in my hospital bed whilst he was meant to watching "our" son, so I could have a shower. Because of his behaviour I had absolutely no bond with my son whatsoever. I never wanted to cuddle him etc. I still feel guilty everyday and get upset whenever I see happy families with loving dad's, wondering why I never had that. Needless to say, I moved out when my son was 14 months old and the swine disappeared so he didn't have to pay child support! 19 years on and I'm still traumatised. What should have been amazing was turned into a nightmare. You look so happy with your baby, I only wish my story has gone the same x
