“Unmet Expectations,” message by Luke Powery

Primary text: Isaiah 5:1-7
Summary: This sermon reads life through the lens of the prophet Isaiah. Specifically, the sermon centers on the idea of ‘unmet expectations’, drawing on the piercing question from the scripture-when I expected it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? Unmet expectations are a part of life and so that biblical question is our own too. But this portion of scripture is not the whole corpus of Isaiah because in the end, the sermon gestures to the whole story of redemption and restoration in Isaiah when God exceeds expectations of Israel as God has done all throughout scripture. In the end, our expectations are not met by God because God exceeds them!
