Laban Pilipinas! Nakakatuwa isang buwan na lang ang pagitan FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier na. Laki ng partida ng mga kalaban. Gilas walang team, bubuo pa lang! Samantalang sila matagal ng magkakasama at nageensayo lagi silang handa kahit anong oras pwedi silang sumabak sa laban ng walang agam-agam. Kung makokopya lang sana yung programa noong panahon ni Sir Ron Jacob na kung saan ay laging guest ang kanilang team sa PBA...ay ang ganda sana! Matatandaan ang team na ito nila Hector Calma ay tinalo nila ang team USA sa Jones Cup. Bukod sa magagaling, matitibay, at mga streak shooters ay matataas pa ang basketball IQ ng mga ito at very familiar sila sa isa't isa. Ganyan dapat ang gawin ng SBP! May sariling team na lumalaban sa mga Int'l games para masukat ang level ng kanilang kompitisyon. Isali din sila sa PBA bilang isang guest team. Gaya ng mga napili mo may igagaling pa ang mga ito sa laro at magiimprub pa ang mga iyan sir. Malakas na yan on paper pero ang problema pag dating sa laban ay magkakahiyaan ang mga ito dahil isang buwan lang silang magsasamasama hindi mo maiiwasan ang kapaan ng bawat isa kanila. Ito ang malaking balakid at sisira sa laro ng mga Gilas players. Kaya nga napakahalaga ng Familiarization para sa isang team. Ang ganitong pamamaraan ay matagal ng ginagawa ng Korea, Japan, China, Kazakhstan, at ginagawa na rin ito ng mga bansang Thailand, Indonesia, at Vietnam. Sana ganoon na rin ang gawin ng Pilipinas. SBP, huwag ng hintayin na tawagin kayong mga Samahang ng Bobosketball ng Pilipinas! Huwag po kayong magalit. Huwag po ninyong idahilan ang covid19 dahil noong kasagsagan ng virus na ito sapagkat hindi man lamang kayo nasilayan sa mga peryodiko para buuin ang team ng Pilipinas. Nasaan kayong mga opisyal? Laban Pilipinas! Sigaw ng bayan. Salamat!

Good points ho. Pero actually, our proposed lineup has 4 current atenistas and 2 ex-atenistas who have played with each other for years already. Add to that the remaining 3 gilas cadets who practiced early this year with the 6 atenistas. So ang bago lang sa projected roster natin ay sina rike, santillan and oftana. Ang concern ho nina coach Tab we guess is the lack of experience. Last Fed, Gilas coaches used 7 pba players. Parang around 50-50 ang gustong mix ng Gilas coaches between pros and amateurs. But due to the pandemic and now the PBA bubble, kakailangin hong i fast-track nila Coach Tab ang development ng mga cadets and college players. This creates disruption on the timeline of the long-term Gilas program, and also unduly exposes the national team to the possibility of bad losses (tambakan). Paniguradong yun ho ang pino-problema ni Coach Tab ngayon. But we are a firm believer in Coach Tab. The Gilas coaching staff will figure things out to come up with a highly competitive squad this coming November. #labanpilipinas

@@apolloarguilla8443 Tamayo and Quiambao may be better than say Rike and Chiu. Pero ang problema ho dito availability. Medyo doubtful that they will be allowed by their mother teams to play for Gilas, especially now that we are still living under the scourge of Covid.

Para sa akin, I think better talaga may mix of Veterans and Prime College Players. Tall with good defensive awareness lalo na sa Wings since Korea puros DDM and Space out offense sila. Guards: 6’1”. For this is my final 12 C-Slaughter,Chiu PF-Go, Baltazar SF-Paras, Ramos, Oftana SG-Swerte, Ildefonso, Bulanadi PG-JDL, M. Nieto If Paras and Slaughter not availble Rike and Santillan might be the good replacement. Baltazar will slide to center position and Rike PowerFoward. Santi at SF

I would start Dave Ildefonso instead of Bulanadi to add more ceiling at the guard spot. Bulanadi can be a good 6th man and offensive firepower off the bench. I have reservation though about Geo Chiu's inclusion, i feel he is not yet ready mentally to bang with the big boys like Korea's Ratliff. Perhaps if Geo had major minutes played in uaap last year, i would be more confident of him.

Eugene Dalisay i agree, the team members should have a minimum height of 6’5”! I guess Greg Slaughter(7’0”, 32 yrs old) is the best option as a substitute for Geo Chiu(6’9”, 19 yrs old)

I think Geo Chiu will be ok vs Thailand, not that he's gonna dominate them, but he's used to going up against Australians and Europeans who are way more physical than SEA players. I think he hold his ground while other players do their thing.

I remember the final line up when justin (7'1" played for gilas abroad, others mga pandak na kaya naawa kalaban) maliliit kc mga coaches kaya pagmatankad na sa kanila grabe na yun, i hope di mangyari yun pag nakuha na yun naturalized na 6'11".

Ikaw nama masyado most silang tineternsdown! Pandemic daw ang dahilan kaya hanggang ngayon ay walang pang team ang Gilas. Nasa mga Frontlines yata sila at nagbibigay ng mga ayuda? Okay lang kahit walang team may milagro naman daw! Ha ha ha... alam mo ba ang tawag sa kanila? Sila ay ang mga taong 15/30's of the month!

The most feasible right now is to get college players with international experience. Just because magaling ka sa local scene, doesn't mean na same ang magiging performance mo sa international games, and we cannot afford inexperienced players, specially against Korea. SBP should've thought about this when FIBA announced the cancellation of games.
