I as a Jewish Ethiopian want to tell you that everything you said is truer I was already born in Israel but my parents were born in Ethiopia and they always tell me and my brothers only parts of this terrible journey. I remember that at my school I wanted to do my final thesis in history about the journey from Ethiopia to Israel and that when I finally heard the whole story I just couldn't help but cry even now that I'm writing this letter I can't help but cry. What they went through sounds like it was taken from a book. Both of my parents immigrated to Israel at a very young age. My mother was nine years old and my father was twelve years old and they just lost so much. because they simply had nothing to eat or drink by themselves. They almost died there in Sudan. It's just amazing how you did it so well.

I remember this quite well. I was about the age of your parents and living at the time in Northridge and going to a Jewish school. Our Rabbi who was a pilot told us that he would leave for Israel to rescue Ethiopian Jews and therefore we would not see him for some time. He told us to be very quiet about this because the press should not be made aware of this because they would wreck everything (which did happen in the end). We did not tell anyone about it and then we heard about it in the news. It was incredible! And then when I went to Israel I saw all these beautiful Beta Yisrael and was happy that they came, even if it was not easy for them.

@@benenivel1478 That’s a fairytale. many Ethiopian and Eritrean crossed the border to Sudan to escape war since 1960’s to present. My late father visited the reception centers at hamdayit, wed helow, um rakuba, wed shirifay : semsem just to mention few. Most of these refugee were Christian and moslem. However, in 1980 things started change . Some of this refugees secretly started to claim they are Falasha so they migrate to Israel for better condition and opportunities - none of them practiced Judaism when they were back in Ethiopia ( majority were Christian).

@@stephanieadams9702 Did you know that some of the Jews had to claim to be Christians and hide their real belief? While what you said might be possible, the reality is that most Jews who had "converted" to Christianity were truly practicing Judaism in secret. When the opportunity arrived, they no longer needed to hide the truth.
@Cappellano
@Cappellano 8 ай бұрын
@@stephanieadams9702 To state that “none of them practiced Judaism when they were back in Ethiopia” is simply false. There is well documented evidence that shows that Ethiopian Jews had to hide their practices during heights of persecution, just like with European Jews. However, Jewish communities from American to England to Israel all agreed that Judaism was being practiced in Ethiopia at that time.

The conflict between the Ethiopian Christian monarchs and the Jewish monarchs can be understood as a disagreement rooted in religious beliefs. It is important to note that both groups share a common ancestry, as the first Christians were themselves Jews. Therefore, it is not a matter of racial division, but rather differences in belief systems.

Wonderfully told, thank you! We often forget the effort and hard work the Ethio-jews have put on their own. We only dipict how Isreal and their fellow Jewish "brothers" have airlifted them to the promissed land. This is the second time I watch video showing the hardship and ordeal the Ethio-jews went through to get to Israel. Thank you for educating of all the work behind scenes. Amazing people working hard. I used to love the word "felasha" - because of how beautiful it sounds, but I´ll be careful using the word in the future. It doesn't really sound good anymore. I hope our sister- and brother-Ethiopian jews are being treated better today. I know they went through another ordeal once they reached Israel.🙏🙏🙏

@skp8748 It's not just the Ashkenazi. You need to look into Arab supremacy and how the slave trade of black Africans even started - the Arab Slave Trade. And then look into the Quran scripture that has instructed them to do that to black people. Horrific racism throughout the Quran and Hadiths. It's not only lighter complected people who engage in racism against black people. Just do a search here on KZbin for "Arab supremacy" then do one for "the Arab Slave Trade." You'll quickly stop engaging in racism and antisemitism against the indigenous Ashkenaz of the Levant who were forced to wander outside their homelands for millenia. (That of course is not to defend anyone who does engage in racism, but you'll be way harder pressed to find a racist Ashkenaz than a racist Arab - those ideals were put onto the Ashkenaz by Europeans and Arabs). Shalom, brother. 💙

As an Ethiopian I strongly oppose the fact that you claimed Jew descendants had been persecuted here! That is false! Ethiopia had been under monarchy rule for 2 millennia! And those monarchs strongly believe that they are also descendants of the Jew origin and much respect for Jerusalem and Jew culture. Even the cultures of the Jews are still incorporated all over the country: Sons of Ethiopia are circumcised, Saturday is still holy, no one eats those forbidden things listed on the old testament ... Moreover we feel bad for the way Israeli treat Ethiopian Jews as strangers. And still more we think of them more Ethiopian than Israeli. And we still think they left Ethiopia to Israeli not because they hate Ethiopia but searching for Economic freedom that Ethiopia is poor and everyone of us need to leave the country!

But they're identified by David's star 🌟 sign on the top of their rural houses and israeli flags on animal skins. When they hear that Israel is in war state, I remember all of them, including my elementary school classmates wanted to go to war for Israel. They're unfortunately not well studied. They're more patriotic for their dream homeland than some actually living in israel.

"Israelis: Are Ethiopian Jews part of the Jewish people?" certainly presents an intriguing query that forces us to reflect on the multifaceted nature of Jewish identity. While the title is engaging, it might unintentionally bring the 'Jewishness' of Ethiopian Jews into question, as though it's a matter open for debate. This is an important subject that deserves a thorough, evidence-based dialogue-one that not only explores the diversity within the Jewish community but also acknowledges the unique dimensions that Ethiopian Jews bring to this diversity. Historical Roots: Ethiopian Jews, known as Beta Israel, have a claimed lineage that dates back over 2000 years. The Bible itself contains multiple references to Ethiopia, further substantiating their claims of ancient Jewish heritage. Unique Religious Practices: Distinct religious texts and traditions exist within the Ethiopian Jewish community, some of which may even be considered older or more 'original' forms of Judaism. These practices not only validate their Jewish identity internally but also contribute a unique richness to the broader spectrum of Jewish religious life. Cultural Tradition: The Ethiopian Jewish community has preserved a robust oral history, which asserts a direct lineage from ancient Israelites. This tradition has been maintained even in the face of geographical and political isolation from other Jewish communities. Genetic Factors: While not the definitive factor for establishing 'Jewishness,' certain genetic markers shared between Ethiopian Jews and other Jewish communities serve as additional supporting evidence of their ancient Israelite heritage. Contrast with Ashkenazi Jews: To deepen this discussion, consider the Ashkenazi Jews, who comprise the majority in Israel and around the world. Unlike Ethiopian Jews, the Ashkenazi community has historical instances of conversion and primarily descends from converts in Central and Eastern Europe. Given all these aspects, the pressing question isn't so much whether Ethiopian Jews are part of the Jewish people. Instead, the question might be: How do the unique traditions and experiences of Ethiopian Jews broaden and enrich our collective understanding of what it means to be Jewish? Their story speaks to the resilience and lasting legacy of the Jewish people, which crosses boundaries of culture, geography, and time.

One video I saw was with the Ask Project with Cory on KZbin. I can't remember the other sources. I don't know of any who live in Gaza or why they would be there though. I know Egyptians live amongst Palestinians in Gaza though.

If you think that ethnic clensing is just some words you can say without backing them up, then you are a complete idi&t. Ethnic clensing is what happened in Muslim countries, west bank area A, Gaza, and Jordan, which currently have 0 jews. Meanwhile arab Israelis and Ethiopians, christians, and citizens have equal rights and all lot of liberal benefits. Israel grew as a nation in Africa (Egypt) so Israel has had an intimate connection with Africa for an extremely long time. It has been proposed by various scholars that Africa was named after one of Abraham’s descendants which reinforces Israel’s connection with Africa. It is a hard historical fact that numerous Israelite communities have existed amongst the northern regions of Africa for more than 2,000 years. It is a hard historical fact that Tacitus equated the Jews of being of Egyptian or Ethiopian descent which means ethnically and culturally the Jews aligned with “Hamitic” peoples

I’m an Ashkenazi Hebrew living in America whose a Christian. I don’t find offense in the idea of Christian persecution towards Jews because I know Rome and Catholics were linked to this. Unfortunately when we think Christian people often make that synonymous with Catholicism yet this derived at a later time from the original Christians who weren’t Roman at al. It all began via followers of Yehsua who were almost exclusively Jews. Gentile converts eventually produced Catholics. A sect of these then considered themselves a replacement to the chosen people and that’s where we got the inquisition. That persecution didn’t derive from the ordinal Christians, but unfortunately many people hear that word and immediately think all Christian’s are Catholic. At the end of it all we can all agree humanity has always been a messy business!

Ethiopia was a strongly Jewish place but also extremely diverse. The entirely missed point in this video is that Jews and Zionists are not the same thing and the idea of Zionists deciding who is an authentic Jew is quite laughable, and Israel as a state discriminates against Africans, even force sterilizing them, and that there is a larger nation of Israel that is comprised of the people who keep the Torah and keep the commandments in earnest and do not participate in the secular ideas of Zionist ideology and are very much against the NEO-Bolshevist system of Israel.

Peres was always a snake. Whatever reason he had was probably evil. Although they are ours (our people) not all Jews had the same level of education. They became cut off. The same is true with the Yeminite Jews and the Rambam brought them back into normative Judaism. The same is true with groups of Indian Jews (Bnei Yisrael) who had to re-establish ties with the Jewish people. The most important thing is that we love them and are glad to have them as part of our community. To this day when I see a member of the Ethiopian community (now born here!) Great video! Beautiful story. The only thing I do not like is the notion of calling the enemy of the Jews in Ethiopia "Christian" rather than Roman, since the Romans stole that "Christian" term in a similar was as what they did to the Jews in Ethiopia, by trying first to persecute and even exterminate Christians. Remember it is not just the Ethiopian Jews Romans called "Falasha" to, they defined every enemy they had as "Barbarians" whether it was the Vikings, Celts, Phoenicians, Persian or Mongols, though it was the Romans who stole the Phoenician alphabet from the Phoenicians and then virtually wiped them of the face of the earth. The enemy of the Ethiopian Jews was Roman not Christian, the Romans in truth cares nothing for the values of Jesus Christ a Jew, for it they did they would not be a enemy of Jews in Ethiopia. The true Barbarians and the true Falasha invader or stranger is the ROMANS, not the Christians, Jews or the enemies who fought against Roman invasion.

Felasha …doesn’t mean stranger …it means some one or group of people who flew ( left their home land or immigrant to be exact ) . That is the meaning .

What gets me is that it's obvious that successive Ethiopian governments do not want the Beta Israelis in their country but they don't want them to leave either. It's this conundrum that should be easily solved by letting them go. "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest, er, people?"

Ethiopia used to be a Christian kingdom. The jews were sent by king Ezana to western periphries of the kingdom as they resfused to accept christianity. King Ezana and his successors never failed to protect the jews community against any aggression from the nighbouring chieftans and mahidist for centuries. they are our people and Ethiopia is their home.

@@misginaberheabreha1137 Emperor Zara Yaqob surely didn't get the memo that they were supposed to be protected because one of his famous names was "exterminator of the Jews"
