Again and again I hear people say BTC is better than Gold while others say the converse. To me it makes more sense to use both. Gold holds its value (buying power) in the long term, while dollars devalue to a few cents over 100 years. BTC is a gamble; it could increase its long-term buying power by one or two orders of magnitude, or it drop to zero if the anti-BTC lobby gains supremacy. I think having both gold *and* BTC is a good strategy in uncertain times. 😉

If you dont hold it you dont actually own it. Bitcoin is based on limited supply. Like we have seen with gold etf's there can be many more claim checks than ounces or bitcoin in the fund. If you really want to be sure you own it you gotta hold the actual digital coin not just a unsegregated claim ticket.

not true. ETFs are backed by Bitcoin and held by custodians like coinbaase and can be tracked in chain and reported by fillings.. now you are correct about not your keys not your coins fundamentally.. best to own at least some of your Bitcoin and keep it on a cold storage wallet.

Questions: If there are 100s of thousands of crypto currencies, is crypto really an alternative to the unlimited power and corruptibility of our current fiat system? In other words, if special interest groups can collude to lend and borrow tens of trillions of dollars, euros etc. at our expense, and without any negative consequences, could those same people hijack crypto currencies and force us into centralized crypto currencies? Is there any way to stop them from doing this?
