I find myself going back to episodes I haven’t yet watched, and even back to the ones I’ve already watched. @missssieb 11 ай бұрын
@@user-lz7gc9ue3han adhd diagnosis is just the doctor asking the patient about their symptoms and if they have enough symptoms, they’ll diagnose them. they don’t measure anything objectively (there’s no blood test, brain scan, etc.) so while it’s best to get a doctor’s opinion, if matt has done his research and feels he meets the criteria, a doctor would probably agree!
@OldMcDonald00
@OldMcDonald00 11 ай бұрын
@@missssiebThey’ll do a physical exam, behavioral exam/test, go over family history, other types of questionnaires, and possibly even give you a referral. Sure, you can find any negligent, unethical doctor who will let you diagnose yourself and hand you a prescription like it’s candy, but it’s important to find that doctor who will take the time to go over all of those things with you to ensure an accurate diagnosis because people get misdiagnosed and over diagnosed ALL of the time. Nowadays it’s way too easy for someone to fake their way into a diagnosis for medication…. and attention or for the use of excuses lol.
@missssieb
@missssieb 11 ай бұрын
@@OldMcDonald00it’s definitely over diagnosed & i wish there were objective tests, but where we are currently is that diagnosis occurs after simply asking questions about a patient’s symptoms (MAYBE interviewing people who know the patient, but that’s rare, especially with adults) a behavioral screening is also extremely rare, would be used more in the case of children. im not saying matt has it or anyone with those symptoms has it, but if matt says he has almost every symptom, then a doctor would probably agree!

Matt and Abby, I just want to say THANK YOU for simply being yourselves. I’ve found myself watching your podcast at all times of the night while in the thick of postpartum. My baby boy is 8 weeks old and I’ve had so many set backs in my recovery that have been so disheartening. However, being able to hear Abby explain all the emotions/struggles I also have experienced (that make me feel so alone and vulnerable) has brought tears to my eyes..because for a little time, I don’t feel like I’m alone. You make me feel like I’m right in the room with you guys, laughing and enjoying life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me work through this dark, yet incredibly beautiful new chapter of life. ❤ p.s. I’m also from the Midwest and live in Tucson 🌽➰🏔️

Your channel immediately made me excited for the day that I will one day find the love of my life and start a family. This podcast particularly showed me that having that special someone in your life is such a precious thing. You guys have inspired me so much. 43:44 would love to add that from a neuroscience/psychology standpoint, memories are tainted by the emotions felt at the time of recall. Memories do not exist as stories set in stone on a shelf, but with each recall of that memory, the individual components of the memory are recompiled. This is how memories can change. Think of the movie inside out- the memories emotional backdrop changes depending on the emotion of the person at the time of recall. I love the psychology of memory so i thought I’d throw that in! :)

Absolutely music can cause strong emotions in a baby/toddler. My oldest song would get so sad to “you are my sunshine” EVERY time, starting at about 6 months. (It was on a playlist, would have to skip it). They can be sensitive to the sad tonality of songs, not the lyrics. I’ve seen many other little ones react to music - instant joy, tension, etc

OK I don’t think you guys even know your own favorite superpower. It’s ok because I got you. Abby: teleportation. No getting kids loaded up in the car or hard travel with baby. You can link arms with your family and poof you’re in Paris. Imagine the date nights in Epcot and Saturday afternoons in Hawaii. Matt: being able to pause time. Like there’s a pause button and the whole world stops but you can keep going. You could have an extra hour to get your work done and be so dang productive but also be able to be super present dad and husband. Everyone would be like “wow how does he do it” also maybe share it with Abby a little for an extra hour of sleep here and there.

@@BriBorgersen Weirddddddddddddddd yourself, why you would question my comment! Are you the comment police? It was a valid question and not an infringment of the Hippa Law. Matt has mentioned it before and again here.

@@carolynturk7368 I just think it’s weird to be so attached to whether someone has an adhd or add diagnosis

@@BriBorgersenHow does someone asking one question about something that Matt continuously brings up, make them “so attached”? It is absolutely a valid question because he constantly uses it as an excuse for everything, but go off!

@@OldMcDonald00 Y’all are too attached in general. Read through the comments. These videos are here for entertainment yet y’all are commenting like you actually know them in person. Like I said, it’s weird.. but hey that’s the new normal for this society…being obsessed with the personal lives of people you’ll never know it real life 😂

I 100% believe Abby when she says she said something because in this podcast alone Matt would get too excited and just miss-hear something she just said 😂. Y’all are so funny and relatable and seem fun and real.

It’s so cool that you guys are from Springfield. We live about 30 minutes away so we know all about the places you guys mentioned

Possums are actually very sweet and mild animals. They are marsupials and they do not carry rabies and they like to eat ticks. They are very clean animals. They look kind of creepy when they get big and they make a creepy sound but they’re actually super sweet.

I love these podcasts!! I was playing my music in the car yesterday and your song Falling In Love came on. My daughter, who is huge into edm, actually asked "who sings this song?" I have it on Amazon, not Spotify tho. She added it to her songs, too.

I think your relationship goes to an entirely different level after you have kids. Your brains go into parent mode and it’s hard not to see those Ick’s in an entirely different light. It’s a whole new life, so adjusting can be a trial. ❤ Oh and I love it when you are barefoot. That’s me! I hate shoes, so it’s just a comfy, at home vibe. ❤ And…if you don’t close the toilet lid before you flush…there has been studies about the droplets in the air floating from the flush action 🤢…put your toothbrush in the drawer 😵
