Clay pot is human body, sohni is human soul, river is life, hut across the river is grave and Mahiwal is the creator awaiting the soul to leave the body and unite with it. And to successfully unite with the creator you have to choose the sound guide "religion" carefully. Superb Sufi song. 👍

this song actually have a spiritual meaning. the clay pot is the human body as it is made of clay, sohni is the soul, and mahiwal is GOD. soul wants to meet God but this body is very weak to temptations and becomes impure, the body is protesting that it cannot meet god that its very weak and fragile.

Just to add Noorie is not the first vocalist but a band composed of two brothers Ali Hamza (first male vocalist and Ali Noor (second vocalist who sang Ghareya part). Their mother is the that lady sagar veena player Noor Zehra and their grandfather Raza Kazim (nana of Noorie brothers) invented that Instrument in 1970. Noor Zehra is the only player of Sagar Veena available.

Sohni is from Gujrat Punjab Pakistan and that's where we are from in Pakistan although i was born in the UK ive been back home and I've seen the Chenab river in real life so this song is special to me because it comes from where I'm from 🇵🇰❤️ By the way im just curious as to whether you've ever head of the City Gujrat in Pakistan Punjab because a lot of indian people are surprised when i tell them haha

There are areas in punjab that are named after the gujjars/gurjars.. like gujrat, gujranwala (which is where hrithik roshans paternal grandfather was from. Also his maternal grandfather was from Sialkot i believe)..etc

Actually SAAGAR VEENA was invented by ALI KAZIM, a lawyer by profession and an activist [father of NOOR ZEHRA (the lady playing the instrument)], she also is the mother of the two male singers in the song (ALI HAMZA & ALI NOOR)..........@13:37 SOUND GUIDE is pointing toward the spiritual aspect meaning thereby if you want salvation, you should get hold / cling to someone that is capable of doing so and not a fake one like unbaked water pitcher that has not gone through the heat of the kiln....the rest is as usual YOU NAILED IT.......bless you.

This is song is a conversation between Sohni and a clay pot. So Sohni was daughter of a clay pot seller and her lover was a trader. Both Madly fell in love with each other but soon sohni's family found out about her love and forcefully married her. Her Lover become a Buffalo herder called mahiwal. Sohni used to carry a clay pot with her so she won't drown and both of them used to meet each other in the night at Bank of river chnab thats why some of the verses say " Para chana de dissy kulli yar di Gharreya Ghareeya aa ve Gharreya ". One day Sohni's sister in law found out about her meeting with mahiwal so she replaced her clay pot with an uncooked clay pot. One night, Sohni went to meet Mahiwal as usual but as soon as she went into rhe river the uncooked clay pot dissolved in the water and soon Sohni started to drown. Mahiwal on seeing his lover Sohni drown, jumped into the river in the hope of saving her but Both of them died that's why some of the last verses say " Yar nu Milegi aj laash yar di Gharreya Ghareeya aa ve Gharreya". Its a true story
