Another tip: unloading dusty product (cement) into rail cars with no dust collection. Run lots of top air (no aerators) so you don't stir up the product, keeps the dust to minimum until the very end. You want the top air to push the product and just enough line air to keep it moving.

Great tutorial and demonstration, retired bulker here, have had to do this a few times, beats the alternatives. Have done this with a partially filled compartment ,if you're using the most foreward one you may get some product of the vent. I would strap a purge bag over the outlet if the load was pellets.

Some of my worst plugs I had to dig'em out. But when Im at the controls and shut it down quick...this works most everytime. Im out of pneumatics temporarily and back on Floors and Hoppers...the dairy side of business.
@cwmode115 жыл бұрын
This may or may not work for you depending on how much product is left in your tanks. If you plug up 5 seconds into the unload lol and are still full I wouldn’t recommend this. Helps if you’ve got at least on empty pod. Good video driver
@strpped3795 жыл бұрын
Im overly cautious when starting product to prevent a plug with no empty hoppers available. Its always nice to draw back into the rear one which is why that is the first to come off. When I plug on full tanks I suck it back into the first hopper which essentially spreads the return along the product line... However the pressure differential in a loaded hopper is still enough to break a plug. My number one rule is DONT PLUG UP.
@glenjones69804 жыл бұрын
If it blocks that quick the loader really needs a slap with a shovel and instructions how to use a sieve and take care of a loading process. Been there, seen the lumps fall into the trailer during loading, locked the cab and walked away :) If they can't load the product at the factory I'm not sweating and struggling trying to discharge at the customer premises (usually the sites with very low air pressure saftey cutoff systems in my experience).

One thing I’m having an issue with working with older unmaintained tanks is the aerator cups actually being so full and clogged that air won’t flow proper causing issues to fully unload a hopper. I could use some advice on cleaning them properly if you have any advice
@strpped3792 жыл бұрын
Honestly, nothing beats regularly cleaned aerators. I had to learn to take them apart and put them together when they werent working ideal 400 miles from our yard. Some guys run the aerators while getting washed out but depending on what you haul I try to keep them dry dry dry!!!
@kyler70242 жыл бұрын
@@strpped379 oh I hear ya i gotta keep ‘em dry as well. hauling lime and cement I’d like to learn how to do so but can’t seem to find any advice on how to do it. I had a guy tell me that there’s nothing wrong it just means there’s product in the aerator line. But there’s definitely an issue if I gotta build pressure and try to empty a hopper 3 times before she even sounds empty. There’s nothing worse then not being able to get all the way empty.
@strpped3792 жыл бұрын
@@kyler7024 ooooohhhh, definitely sounds like your hoses to the aerator are restricted. Its pretty easy to clean just loosen the hose clamp with a screwdriver or socket. Next time youre empty look down in your tank and see if old product has caked on the walls. I have 1 vid posted where a guy is inside the pneumatic pressure washing it after a bunch of mold and cake really obstructed the walls. Thatll hang thousands of pounds of product. Cement and Lime shouls have no issues coming out...those are dream loads...chicken meal, lamb meal, fish meal...absolute nightmare loads

Thanks for the video. How tippy are those trailers to pull? Seems like they could go over pretty easy in corners. Have a nice weekend.
@strpped3795 жыл бұрын
@69adrummer They dont feel top heavy at all. Most of the loads are very low center of gravity. Limestone, Grit, Rice...all sit very low in the trailer. Some fluffy'er loads will fill the entire trailer but settle as you go down the road...what was full when you left, later settles to 4 or 5ft below the top. Now, on the other hand ...the pull trailer on a set of doubles can get a little squirrelly on you.

The only times it fails me is when I haul meat meal...greasy lamb. It doesnt fall or blow well. Then...its all about manually cleaning out the connections. Other than that...its 100% reliable.

I blow 00 sand at 15 all day and rarely clog and when I do I just cut the product off and bang the blow down open and it sucks it up every time but I keep the pressure high
@strpped3792 жыл бұрын
I luv blowing that high...the distance sucks though. Limestone/Grit is so abrasive it eventually wears holes in the hoppers, hoses and elbows. I once cemented my pop off valves on a powder train and blew off 55k at 20lbs in 18minutes....was never brave enough to do that twice. Keep up the good work...blow baby blow

@@strpped379 Yeah it’s so much more efficient and Sheesh that’s high I’m not comfortable over 16 but yeah sands just like a sand blaster it eats through EVERYTHING I don’t deal with powder much but I’ve found low pressure to work a lot better with powder

U gotta have at least 1 empty pod right?
@strpped3793 жыл бұрын
Having an empty Hopper helps but not necessary. I've plugged up immediately a few times and it's just the draw put on the product line that is enough to release the plug. If not...I've had to manually open and break down each section and clear them with a long pole or rod. In general, pneumatics are hard to plug...but meat meal SUCKS !!!!!!! Cement, Lime, Fly Ash, Grit, Rice, Sand and Powders...piece of cake
