UNPOPULAR OPINION: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick is overrated

lol people getting worked up over a negative review saying that you 'just used it wrong' when someone calls out a product. honey, if you buy a lipstick that price tag it should perform regardless if you used a lip liner with it or not. You should be able to travel with just that bullet in your purse, throw it on after a long flight and be good to go for the reunion with your lover at the welcome area at the airport. If you first have to buy a second very expensive product and jump through a bunch of hoops and steps to make it work, sorry, that's just not really a good product to begin with then is it. we get it, you bought into the hype and need to defend this product to death in front of the world to convince everyone - but more than anything yourself - that your indulgence in a pricey mediocre lux product was justified. you do you, knock yourselves out, go on and fill tilbury's pockets. fact is in that price range performance shouldn't be tied to a list of ifs and buts. if it works for you, great. but the 'you used it wrong' argument is just ridiculous FOR A LIPSTICK THAT PRICE!

You’re the Second KZbinr (Zabrena) that mention this problem, thanks! I’ve always the same problem with both pillow talk lipstick versions, even using the lip definer before. Now I tried using Maybelline super stay 24H color before and then over this, the Tillbury lipsticks... guess which one remains at the end, even without drinking or eating? Right Maybelline!

I bought the the mini liner/lipstick kit altough I watched this video before buying it. I agree on the short wearing part. I feel like the formula is so thin that after a couple of hours it mostly disappears. Lip liner helps and I really liked the liner. But I have other soft matte lipsticks that stays for hours so I wouldn't bother with the lipstick again.

Her packaging is so stunning. But I find the product inside to be mediocre. The concealer has been a pain in my tail. I have to get my husband to help me open it! And the sponge tip pulled off after a week or so 🙄. It’s not user friendly at all. I’m a retired pro and still can’t get it to work with ease so I feel for the average woman with this product. The flawless filter and foundation are mass market quality as well. If the actual product matched the high end packaging her brand would be on point!

I use it with a lip liner and it’s actually twice as drying🤪 I have come to realize that Charlotte tilbury is obsessed with pink colors idk if I can really say most of her products perform beautifully. Some are too pink, too dry, too much. I like pink but I can honestly say she is over advertised and it just isn’t worth the price tag🥲 sorry CT

Agree with this 100%. I wanted to like this lipstick, but it is too light on me, too sheer, and is almost completely off after an hour of being careful. I thought maybe I was missing something, but it looks like I am not the only one feeling like this is a little over-hyped. Thank you for being brave enough to be honest on the web.

Totally agree with you, it just looked so plain on me and didn’t last long at all while also drying out my lips. It performed like a cheaper version of Macs velvet teddy lipstick.

I liked the formula. The complaint I had? The color! It looked much darker than I thought it would, with no pink. It looked more brown/red on me and I verified it was the color "pillow talk".

I can say that color is not flattering on me. As a “vampire skinned” person, with reddish hair and golden eyes, that tone makes my lips purple. I look sick.

It took me a few years to purchase this lipstick and I am not happy that I did. Everyone says it's a mauve pink, and maybe it's just me but it seems more peach brown and I don't see any pink in this shade at all. I also like a nice mauve neutral color and this isn't it. I also feel it made my lips show their age. I am much much older then you but this lipstick does nothing for me. I like most of her eyeshadows but again everything in this line that claims to be pink is actually peach color. I will give it to them they have great marketing and that is what get's us to buy these over priced cosmetics. Sorry but I am not a huge fan of her lipsticks at all. I know this video is about a year old but I just stubbled across it. Thanks for sharing.

I bought it today at Sephora and put it on in the parking lot. I went to pick up my son after and gifted it to my sons god mother. The liner was dry hard to work with and the freaking lipstick was almost just as bad. I bought the mini kit for $ 25 could not gift it fast enough. Total shit. Edit holy crap so funny but I have that same Sephora lipsticm and freaking love it too so soft creamy smells amazing. CT is so dry and totally shit maybe if we had our lips full of fillers like her clients.............

Confirm everything. After using it for over 5 months I can honestly say it's not worth the money. After less than an hour it just leaves that awful color line on my lower lips. I do not understand all the great reviews. I mean, I am a 40 year old with natural medium lips. Possibly good reviews come more from youngers or someone with no natural lips? I cannot explain it otherwise, I've spent 1/10 of this price for better quality lipsticks.

I got a sample of Pillow Talk. It's grey cast, it's dry, it's well advertised, it's overpriced. I'm fair and it's horrible for my skintone. Glad I got it for free. Trust yourself, not the hype. I was very disappointed but not surprised.

This is the worst lipstick formula I've ever purchased and the most expensive. Just like this review, it is drying and ages my lips instantly. It's so strange how it sits on top of my lips and looks streaked across them no matter how I apply. It also has a subtle orange tint on me (I am cool/cool-neutral toned) so that cancels out the "perfect shade" reputation. Not universal, oh well.

Dried the shit outta my lips. Beautiful color. I got a rash. Gonna go back to MAC, it never disappoints and moisturizes too. I’m glad I tried CT BUT it’s over rated. Pretty color but that’s it. Overpriced too

To be fair I love this & it might be that you have very small narrow lips, lipsticks don't usually stay on very much because I have a friend with lips like you & she gave up wearing lipstick cause she said her lips are so narrow it never stays on.

Marie L The size of her lips really has nothing to do with the staying power of the lipstick. If she used the liner before on her entire lip and then the lipstick she would get the illusion that lipstick is staying on better. I have a thinner lip also and I have lip liners and lipsticks that will stay on for twelve hours. The pillow talk lipstick does come off easily and her Sephora dupe looked great on her perfectly petite lip shape.

I wish before people who review this lipstick would learn how to properly use it before giving it a bad review because they used it wrong. She says that you are absolutely supposed to line your lips with the lip liner and then go ahead and fill in the rest of your lips with the lip liner and then apply the lipstick. When you do that the lipstick wears very well and stays on a hell of a lot longer...... It's personally the only lipstick I ever will wear and have worn.
