I'm constantly impressed that Big Finish can get big names supporting (and creating) their content, like Sir Derek Jacobi and David Tennant. I can't imagine how busy these actors must be, but their love for Dr. Who has them still involved in producing Dr. Who stories that would never see the light of day otherwise.

I used to work SF cons and talked with a lot of the British actors from Who. While some of them liked the show, most of them talked about how in England acting is a job. They don't get as much flack for being in a bad movie or TV show as American actors do, so there is no downside to taking a job. What's important on their CVs is that they worked pretty regularly, not whether the movie made a ton of money. So, regardless of whether they like Dr. Who or not, they'll take the work over not working.

3:25 it’s not as much a theory as much as a thing that writers used. There are licensed Past Doctor Adventures books that take place post war games and pre spearhead, so BBC acknowledged the theory as canon.

Glad he isn't. Sacha is a good actor. His Master is awful. A _Discount_ Joker, even down to the suit. Another character "fan of the Classic era" Chibnall didn't get at all. Hopefully RTD will shelve The Master for a while. Maybe even introduce Omega or any another Time Lord into Nu Who.

Simms Master was initially mad. But the portrayal was consistent with being a parallel to Tennant’s 10th Doctor.

As much as I really enjoyed what Big Finish has done with Eric Roberts' underutilised Master, so far. I don't have the same enthusiasm to hear more Sacha Dhawan's iteration. I also think in keeping with previous rules regarding the newest material Big Finish are allowed to cover. I think the Fugitive Doctor's boxsets suggest she might not be returning to the show.

Don't care too much for the Fugitive or Master ones. I find Sacha too cringey and The Fugitive just doesn't interest me as a concept. I also feel like she's not gonna have a personality much different to how the Doctor is and she'll just be the same Doctor we all know. I want something different. I'll wait and see I guess

And, guess what? you don’t speak for those that do want to see themselves in their favourite shows or movies. Dalek are Nazis, in the Pertwee era - all three of the Third Doctor’s companions (Liz Shaw, Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant) were feminists and one was eco-friendly (Jo Grant). In Russell T Davies’ era (the showrunner from 2005 to 2010 and homosexual) - had two black companions (Mickey Smith and Martha Jones, along with her family) and a companion who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community (Captain Jack Harkness) and his era touched on government, fandom and slavery. In Moffat’s era - The Master regenerated into a woman (female Time Lords AKA Time Ladies existed in Classic Who. See: Susan (the Doctor’s granddaughter), Romana (a companion of the Fourth Doctor) and The Rani (an enemy of the Sixth and Seventh Doctors) also another black companion who is lesbian (Bill Potts) was introduced in Series 10. There are plenty of examples of the show being political and inclusive AKA “woke” since 1963. Go to this article - “Except For That Time: Political and Social Awareness in Doctor Who” and you’ll see for yourself.

@@IlikeTrainsguy100 big finish aren’t taking anything away from potential TV episodes though, because if the show decides to bring back Jo Martin they’ll just do it, they won’t decided not to make more stories with that character just because she has audio stories (plus lots of people like the audio drama format and the fact that there are no limits to the visuals because you can decide what they are)

Considering audio dramas have infinite special effects budget (as long as your sound designer is good enough), I would say that it’s the tv that is taking away story opportunities from ADs.

Neither one is taking away story opportunities, Big Finish isnt canon and the tv show has legal and narrative priority
