Very good tutorial, thank you very much. Would love to see a follow up about manipulating the decal further, like dissolving it with another texture. I tried to figure it out by myself, but I only got weird or outright broken results.

This is the exactly same technique that Niels Dewitte shared 3 years ago at real-time vfx forums. I mean, copied to the same node positions. I don`t see a problem to share the technique or to replicate it, but you didn't mention where you find it at all, not even mentioned real-time vfx community.

Thanks for pointing it out! I had read the post and that is where I got the idea from, but completely forgot about it. I did not intentionally place the nodes in the same positions though, that is just how I organize my graphs, as you might have seen in other videos. Anyway, I updated the description to give Niels the due credit :)

May I ask a question? Regarding how to sample the volume, I have gone over the video many times to try it, but the vertical rendering is broken. If you have any ideas about this problem, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

i dont know if u will answer this, but does it matter if u dont use dynamic parameter for the niagarra system, i only ask this because my Unreal keeps crashing when i spawn this NS, in editor?

Hi, this tutorial has been very helpful!! However I have issue with the decal visibility, Decal disappeared when my view is inside the mesh area. Are there any ways to solve this problem?

Making the material double sided should help :)

there is way to ignore some mesh ?(like main char) with this decal niagara vfx

Sadly not easily, to do something like that you would need to change the "get position behind translucency" information; maybe that could be replaced with a custom stencil pass where you store the world position only on the objects that you want to receive projection decals, but it won't be trivial.

I never new about this Thanks! now we have decal renderer but it was good to know, and it was still clipping inside mesh even i turn twosided on, then i need a face between camera and face that receiving decal!

Making the material two sided doesn't solve the problem with displaying the decal when the camera is within the mesh(

Is there any way to include normal texture information in this type of particle decal? When i try to add normals, it also grabs the shading from the bounding cube, and has face sorting issues when two sided is used.

Haven´t looked too much into it, but I´ll check; in the meantime you can try with the new official Decal Renderer available in 5.2, if you are using that version :)
