Surnames werent a thing here before Napoleon's brother made it law when the Netherlands came under French jurisdiction at the start of the 19th century. If, however, you were born into Royalty or you happened to be the son of an influential person the house of said royal family or your fathers name + "zoon" were used as practical "surnames" respectively. ("Zoon" is son in Dutch, say your father, who was a decorated Field Marshall, was named Pieter you would add "Pieterszoon" to your given name as to avoid confusion and to serve as sign of might and influence aswell. This had actually been a common feat among many Western and Northern European cultures from as far back as Roman times ("Ragnarsson", "Eriksson" to name 2 maybe familiar examples) When the law making surnames mandatory for every Dutch Citizen went into effect, the vast majority of people affected by it were simple farmers, sailors, workers etc (basically the working class) who didnt have that much going for them in terms of ancestral legacy or titles of royalty which they could use as a surname so many simply picked their profession to become their official surname. A few examples: "Bakker" Baker, "Akkerman" lit. Fieldman, farmer basically, "De Jager" the Hunter, "De Graaf" The Count, which in this case likely meant some sort of servant of said "Count" as i highly doubt a Count wouldnt have had some snob elite familyname like "Cleanwater" picked only to piss off the "disgusting plebs" Another big group were the "Van's", the one's you were curious of. (im typing a full on essay in a Darts vid comment section fuck me lol) These people basically took a "landmark" or anything even remotely noteworthy close to their residence and placed "Van" (Of) or "Van de" (Of the) infront of it. Sometimes they simply used the name of the village they lived in, as is the case for Raymond van Barneveld's ancestors. Some examples: "Van Dijk" lit. "Of Dyke", of the Dyke in gramm. correct English, dykes ofcourse serving as our people's Messiah since it's invention. "Van der Laan" lit. "Of the Avenue", "der" here being a relic of times when our language was much more similar to that of our German neighbours, "der" and its derivatives, however, are as good as dead in the practical Dutch thats in use today. "Van Vliet/Van Beek", "Van Creek". I combined them since they are both fairly common to this day and since both names are derived of a nearby creek of some sorts. (A "vliet" is merely a small creek) NOTE: i forgot bigger cities DID develop surnames long before the law of king Louix Napoleon was passed, most surnames in settlements like Ghent or Utrecht would likely be similar to the profession-based surnames described above. More Rural areas like the majority parts of the Northern provinces were however as described earlier largely unfamiliar with surnames. These parts would see most of its people get their first official surname in the months following both Louix Napoleon's forced departure as Roi de Hollande and the total annexation of the Netherlands by the French Empire in 1810.

He said in an interview that the doctors actually don't know yet. Had an X-ray two weeks ago, but the doctors didn't see anything wrong at the time, so he will call the doctors the next couple of days or so, he said. Felt like it was bone on bone though (his words) so it's obviously a bad knee injury
