I just came back to this video to say that I've finally tried it, and it's a game changer. No exaggeration. I'm using it on a RTX 2070 and it's really quick. Like extremely quick. What was an hour before is now a matter of a few minutes. The other side of the coin is that It eats through GPU memory like it's nothing, 8GB of video memory doesn't last long depending on your scene. A RTX 3090 suddenly doesn't seem so overkill anymore, with its heaps of memory.

I got this multiple times from multiple people, could it be a bug? can you try it on a different project?
@robbie_3 жыл бұрын
@@VRDivision I solved the issue in my particular case. I looked in my DefaultEngine.ini file for my project and there were two [/Script/Engine.RendererSettings] sections. The first (encountered first by the parser no doubt) said RT = true, in the second it said RT = false. I deleted the second and it started working. I don't know how it happened. I do crash the editor from time to time so probably some bugletto in there. So the problem was when I enabled RT and restarted, it came back as disabled.

wasn't the point of raytracing not to bake? I am really confused. Why is baking needed with raytracing on? Is this because some light calculations are not supported in Raytracing?

Luoshuang is the guy who is working on this new lightmass in the first place so unless you want to use an older engine version, the new lightmass is the one to stick with, since the new UE4 GPU Lightmass is basically Luoshuang's just officially integrated and worked on now.

great tutorial! do you know if it's possible to use GPUlightmass (with RT enabled) .. and bake everything in the scene so it kind of doesn't use RT at all anymore. (like you did with disabling RT-features in postprocess - reflections, AO and so on). i followed your tutorial and it worked like a charme! but somehow it looks like there are still contact shadows (ambient occlusion-like) which are raytraced. i think that will impact the performance - or at least will be a problem with computers without RTX. is it even possible to use these projects on computers without RTX cards anymore? :D god, i have no clue right now! anyway. thanks for the video!

Why does ue4.26 use gpulightmass to bake, the whole picture, especially the dark places and shadows, flicker slightly? I clearly disabled ray tracing in the post-processing volume. It's strange that I still feel affected by ray tracing. Is it necessary to enter a command to completely disable ray tracing? But you can't turn on reflection and transparency using ray tracing alone, because these two functions can make up for some visual defects of gpulightmass after baking
@VRDivision3 жыл бұрын
