Unreal Engine 4 - Adding Basic Movement (With controller support)

I know this is crazy old at this point. But finally someone that explains the basics. Every tutorial Starts with, well just open the third person yadda yadda. and its all premade so no learning. basically just lego together other peoples work. I have been in the classic max/vray side of life for 15 years now. I' ve just started learning for about a month now, and I love every second of it. Finding out the photoreal/rendering stuff was easy for me, but these blueprints... I just dont understand how you know all these nodes, like how you find them. Is it google every 5 minutes? Or If its just trial and error, I'll need another 15 years. I'm just thankfull that people like you share knowledge because back in the day, without all these youtube videos it was a real nightmare. Believe me, beginners these days have a real shot at learning these things. If you started back in 2005, it was like going to the gym trying to look like Arnold

great tutorial from scratch! is there a way to change pawn orientation from key? for example i want pawn strafe if right mouse button is pressed with side movement preserving its forward direction as camera when released pawn oriented according movement direction

hi, I've tried to follow along but in vrgame mode I can't get these controls to work. I cant find the input axis(es) for the gamepad. only for the axis motioncontroller and teleportation. I wish to move the character for test purposes with a xbox controller. Hope you can help you Cheers!

ok this might sound stupid...overall great tutorial...but why is my player only moving absolute left/right forward/back...it does not seem to register the player rotation part. so forward is sideways when I rotate my player 90°

First video tutorial i see where the author explain what he do and that's a big + in my book so kudos and you have the perfect voice to do it! I have just a small problem with the keyboard mapping since i would prefer to use my left and right keyboard arrows to move the character left and right instead of using A&D but when i go in project settings/input and change the A to left and the D to right it simply does not work as intended instead it is rotating around the player?

I really like this tutorial, the only problem I'm having is I can't move left or back. I tried to copy a blueprint from what I thought was "moving right" and tried making it move left but it won't work. Am I missing something?

Change the scale (positive to negative) if it is inverted or change the node it is plugged into. Just a beginner but I reckon it will work.

Hi im a Ue 4 noob and this works great if your player have one part but how can i make 2 Parts to Controll? I simple want [Cube that can move forward and backward+ Rot Z.(WASD Movement) ]+ [Cylinder on the Cube what can Rot-Z (MouseAxis Input). Not sure if you found out how to do this or not yet, so I shall take a shot at it. You'd need to map separate keys in your input settings for the second object (if you want them to move independently) and then make a second blueprint character using those inputs, then mark them both as Player 0. This would be how'd I'd attempt it, but others would likely have different, and possibly better ideas.
