One small tip. Make the Coastline domain Z height higher than your water level or the waves won't render correctly and the sound also doesn't work properly.

a bit late but it actually works with meshes through distance field too. wheb you add a mesh you hit rebuild on domain.

Would be SO great if they could make these water plugins work with static meshes. I have a whole 1:1 replica of Memphis, Tennessee that I'm wanting to add a beach to, but the whole project is a static mesh

Thanks for the Tutorial, there seems to be little in the way of good explanations on KZbin. Did you find out if it was possible to use meshes?

Yes you can use meshes. The domain should put a grid for collision around them. You can see it with the debug

Aah ok, thanks for coming back so quickly. I've literally just purchased it and followed your tutorial. I added a large cube onto the shoreline in the hope that it may interact with the water but nothing seems to happen. (I am not familiar with the debug):( EDIT. I just moved the Coastline domain up and down and now its working. :)

I have a culling issue. I'm using this on an 8kmx8km landscape. It's all good but I have a large canyon in my map. I used the cut mask bp to cut out that area. Again, all good. But if the player's view is close to eye level with where the waterline level is then the ocean culling fails and looks like a flat plane popping up at the far end of my canyon. So far I can't get this to stop happening.

Resolved: Maybe this will help someone. Under the coastline bp change "Infinite Grid Levels Over" from 5 to 7.

Outside of pricing, what are the main differences with Fluid Flux, Oceanology and FluidNinja? Are some better in certain use cases than others? Just asking as I imagine others will be weighing up same options.

All tutorials I find, the plugins already in the content folder... any tutorial how to add its folder there? Trying to copy in the game directory but doesn't work...

​@@AaronFhd Yes you need... For those who had the same question that is how you do it, after unpack the plugin folder, there's a project inside. Open it and migrate (right click the content folder name Fluid Flux > Migrate) to the content folder of your project. Plugins like UDS, you can just copy the folder trough explorer, but flux is different, somehow need this migrate thing to work...thanks for the reply anyway!

Hello there - Thank you for the AWESOME tutorial - Not many good ones on Fluid Flux! A question, if I have an area, a lake in my case - How do I fill it with water - Without having to add the modifier and then wait for it to fill up! LOL, which can take a while :)

I don’t think you can do that with fluid flux would have to check. But best to just use plane with a water texture

I wish I understood if this was running the physics on the CPU Or GPU, as well as how it works like In general, and what are it's limitations. My guess is the physics are calculated on the GPU? Makes me wonder the inner workings of this system.

in UE5.4 the the entire ocean has this really choppy white water look for some reason. I tried tweaking the settings but doesn't seem to change it. help:(

im using multiple static meshes, but when i do this it only works on one mesh (the one i drop it onto), any idea how to make it work with all static meshes in the level'? thanks

I had this issue as well make sure collision is on the objects. But what fixed it was changing the height of the ocean then putting it back. It updated all the meshes

@@IndigoKidda if you check out the sample map there is a modifier that will make the ocean calmer. And there is a some other sample as well

How big is that map in your video? I have a large open-world map in World Partiton, multiple island 75% sea. Fluid Flux isn't an option. Too heavy. FPS killer. RTX 3080ti + R9 + 128GB RAM

10900k, 3080 and 32 gig ram until Friday when another 64 gig arrives. I have 8kx8k landscape scaled 3x to total 24x24k map. Switched out oceanology for the new Fluid Flux and I have no FPS hit switching between the 2. Fluid Flux ocean is covering all of my landscape. Set your area world pixel size to 1000 and if your landscape is bigger than 10x10 then increase the Area resolution by powers of 2. So 1024 or 2048 for example. I have it set to 2048 for my large landscape.

hi br, thanks for the video really helped a lot but I have a huge problem now, while rendering the fluid flux ocean the ocean moves in every single sample of the frame, for example I have 32*4 samples per frame in movie render queue that 1 frame with 128 sample fluid flux ocean moves 128 frames forward while sampling 1 frame so second frame starts from 129 while it should've started from 2nd frame, Can anyone help me please, I have been stuck on the rendering part from 4 days cause of this problem 😢

I figured out how to boost/tweak the foam... you have to play with the settings in the Foam section of the MI_OceanOver material. The new emissive parameter is nice. The cool thing about the breaking waves and the foam is you can see the foam texture wrap up inside the curl of the waves as they break, looks awesome.

I finally understood in the demo I get there without worries it is the bp_fluxsurface_water that must be modified. On the other hand in a personalized level it is not possible to select it. All I have to do is find out how to do it, logically it's in edit bp_flux, I'll look for it there, there's a lot of parameters, you just have to find the right one.@@AaronFhd

Great! I run to download it... unfortunately this blueprint costs $350 bucks 🥺 It should be free... than many more would use and learn... in case a game is published using it, THEN you pay it... like UE itself.

do you realize the work that went into the coding of this? an independent coder/team made a REAL TIME water physics engine that rivals anything ive seen from a AAA title and youre bitching about the price. i can see where your son gets his brains from.
