Yeah, for now, it's impossible to we have a real time fluid like real life fluid that not look "Uncanny", this is a aspect that even CGI pre-rendered footage have A LOT of trouble. To we have a fully realistic fluid, we need to have a Water that it's 100% particle and not mesh, and this is humanity impossible with our current hardware for real time. To tell you the truth, even without-real-time a GPU + CPU can take easily WEEKS to render only few seconds.

Same, it lacks a good foam layer to add that finishing touch. Back to the drawing board for v3 I guess.

@@hicarodestrui "To we have a fully realistic fluid, we need to have a Water that it's 100% particle and not mesh, and this is humanity impossible with our current hardware for real time" Actually no - you need both. Particles for the foam at the leading/breaking edges of the wave, and mesh for the rest. It might be possible using ML augmented methods to simulate at lower step levels and have the neural net generate the higher quality version dynamically at playback time.

this plugin looks cool at first but in no way can you just drop this in a world like minecraft and it will just work. the area of simulation must first be designated and then the water sim appears in this box only. from what i have heard before the simulation cannot be runtime spawned and it does not cache the scene must fill the water every time. hopefully 2.0 fixes these issues as just for this plugin you would require players to wait 30 seconds to a minute maybe longer for a waterfall to start generating and the stream to flow down and it all fills the scene and looks like it was already there. it also has very lacking water interactions with the player. the water bends unnaturally and the waves in the ocean are folding with the waves which looks cool but then from some angles the effect is totally wrong and leaves you with an unnatural wave. this dude has never been to the beach who made this plugin. waves do not fold on eachother when they are 1 foot high they push far across the beach. waves fold on eachother when they are much larger. before you say im being to picky this costs hundreds of dollars to license.

I've been researching this plugin, and it seems the limitations wouldn't work for the stuff I'm interested in. It can't be used in an open-world setting, and it can't be used with multiplayer. (according to it's own marketplace listing) Seems it's mostly just a fun project to play with, but not to actually use in a game. --Here's the list of limitations (from it's marketplace listing) for those interested-- open-world is currently not supported simulation can't be replicated simulation is calculated in a 2d grid projected on the heightfield (captured ground) system cant simulate wave breaks and splashing water VR and mobile are not supported currently non-tesselated plane mesh for rendering fluid surface there is no integration with Water Plugin for now

All i can say, is i was so excited when i learned that the new Subnautica is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and we're gonna have this kind of graphics. Unity was so bad in the first game with that terrible LOD. I used to see entire regions appearing out of nowhere as i was moving around and i felt like a was playing a PS1 game all over again, in 2016. Really bad choice for an engine.
