About the loft bed experience at around 49 minutes, I actually had one for many years, and you aren't far off. Having the desk space being underneath the bed conserves a lot of space in a room, especially when you're trying to squeeze in multiple kids. However, climbing up and down the ladder can be a (albeit mild) pain in the ass. If you're really tired it's gonna feel like a slog getting up there, and if you're clumsy there's a possibility of you missing a step and falling down the ladder. Thankfully I've only ever fallen straight to the floor, but if your foot got caught in it I'd imagine it'd cause some issues.

So I think what's going on with the Colorado house is it used to be a turn of the century wood mill that somebody bought in the '90s and converted into a home. That hallway that extends over the driveway was where they'd assess the logs coming in, the long extension coming out of the back was where they'd load them onto the dragging chain, and the really tall room with one side that's entirely windows would've been where they were shaved down and cut into planks. The other side where the garage now is would've been the maintenance/steam rooms, and the little room hanging over the mountainside off the side of the saw room would've been the office.
