Ranveer, I would like to share one of my cousin 's experience with you. Many years ago,he was working as a kind of bouncer/muscle man in a bar in Mumbai, when they had trouble with some drunks and argument escalated and one of the drunks a local goon pulled out his revolver, pressed the nostle on my cousin's chest and pulled the trigger. The revolver didn't fire and before he could attempt again my cousin got the better of him and they all fled. Many years later at a bhootakola in our Village the bhootha reminded my cousin about that incident in Mumbai. Panjurli said do you remember that day when an arrow (in local dialect) was about to pierce your chest ? I had obstructed in by keeping my hand in between. When my cousin heard this , tears rolled down his cheeks and he disclosed the story to us.

I was born in the Holy City Of UDUPI which is an internal part of Tulunadu. Infact Tulunadu has its own language "Tulu". I also consider myself to be equally lucky to be grandson of "Padma Vibhushan Dr BM Hegde" What world has got to know recently from him we have been hearing from him since our childhood and it always fascinated us. I have marked a mail to TRS to invite him to his show so that more people know how basic Indian remedies can help in curing lot of diseases and how and why to avoid current Medical practises which can be pretty unnecessary for many. If you guys want to call him to TRS do hit like below so TRS would notice.

@@kasturim17 I feel i am lucky and not so lucky when it comes to interaction with him. Coz when we had ample time to interact with him we were kids and knew a little about his feat and accomplishments...we thought he is our Grandfather and a Professor and used to listen to him but also find our way to escape and play. Now after he got Padma Bhushan and all and after his suggestion of providing basic sanitary Hygiene for better social living standard was picked up by central govt we realise how important his words are and I try not to miss an opportunity to listen to him but when we visit him he is either out of some Interview or might have one scheduled in sometime. So we hardly get time to talk.

Great information I wish to add some... I belong to Punjab North India Similar kind of culture is also there in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal etc. We worship a diety named Baba Sidh Chaano ji also named as Hast Bali, Chaanur devta, Sidh Bali sarkar etc .This diety directly belongs to Dwapar yuga with Shri Krishna People worship Him to protect their villages especially Animals and crops. There is a place of worship almost in every village of Punjab.The main mandir is located in village Samaila,Distt Hamirpur Himachal pardesh After every three years, a religious function is organised like Bhoota kola, its called "Saal"(year)The main preist performs the swaang/role of this diety Baba Sidh Chaano ji by riding An Elephant(artificial) as diety's swaari in the middle of the night.Another sewak diety of Baba Sidh Chaano ji is Baba Bauriya, during Aavesha he eats burning wooden coal pieces People also strongly believe that all the negative energies of that village are destroyed by the diety on that night. For more, you can search it on youtube as SAAL BABA SIDH CHANO JI Baba Sidh Bali sarkar ki Jai

Hey, I hope you are doing good. I'm actually from Madhya Pradesh and came to know about bhuta kola from Kantara and today I saw this podcast. First of all I love the culture especially the daivas and the bhuta kola I wish the daivas give me an opportunity to visit and see the kola for myself. Actually I wanted to ask you a question. Since Rithwik sir said that his family has three different daivas and during the kola all three are being invoked. So I was just curious to know if the daivas talk with each other too? Like if there are more than one daiva in a kola do they like talk or like have some sort of interaction with other daivas? I hope you get my question and please answer this 🥺.

Ajja belongs to the koragas and koragas only are to be true deities of ajja(their kuladaiva) that maintain his gudi/temple etc. But now the higher caste people of Mangalore have made it to be a trend of some sort. Actually bhootakola is a lesser varient or versions of theyyams in North Malabar kerala as it can we easily understand from its costumes and facial arts and strict ritual practices and this theyyam ritual arts most deepest and the centre part is chirakal to payyannur to neeleshwaram regiouns in noth Malabar kerala where we can see this ritual art form at its highest forms from this area this ritual art form spred through out its surrounding areas like a cercle kanjangad,kasargod,sullya,coorg in Karnataka and talassery,vatakara, manandavadi of kerala and this art forms ritual styles decrease from the middle areas to its outer areas like mangaloore where it becomes bhoota kola and koyilandi in kerala it becomes thira and from the middle this cerlce almost ends in these areas. distorting history is not good for anyone

Great to hear the beautiful cultural aspect of Udupi and Mangalore. There is a lot more about Bhoota Aradhane. Koragajja is another divine deity to be spoken about and the endless leela. Since the land is owned by Naga, naga Aradhana is to another level and irrespective of the religion whether Muslim or Christians if there is Naga dosha in particular land they have to do rituals if needed.

Being a part of this Nadu (Namma Tulunad) makes me proud. Whenever we travel, we always remember the name of our daiva and begin our day with the hope that he will be with us. Daiva is very important to us. Many incidents have occurred in my hometown; some may argue that they are not real, but I assure you that I will never forget them till the day I die. One night, when we were sleeping, at around one or two in the morning, a large stone landed just next to our bed. My grandfather used to gather all the stones and throw them outside, there was no way because all the doors were locked, all the windows were closed, and the roof was undamaged. This incident took place over the course of two to three days. Surprisingly, nobody was harmed in this specific case. Later, during a gathering known as KOLA, we got to know that a daiva had visited our home. We began to pray to him, and to this day, they have rewarded us with all of our challenges and business expansion. 🙏❤ Thank you Ranveer for this epic podcast

Thanks for all your episodes. I'm from Venezuela, living currently in Argentina and owing every triumph and even my survival in these recent hard years to the Devas and Devi, (Supreme). It would be powerful to see some episode deal with the fact that before most of recorded history, the whole planet was a Vedic stage. There are Vedic symbols and words in the Andean ruins of Puma Punku and Ganesh depictions in Colimbian ancient cites, I've read peer-reviewed articles on how Egyptian, Scandinavian, and Celtic myths are Vedic in origin, the Chinese Tao and the Japanesse Shinto are Vedic as well, there is also the famous white city of Hanuman in the Mosquitia tropical forest in Honduras. So, it would be a wonder and delight to hear some expert's takes on that mystery, and shine some light on what happened in the world to destroy such a divine might... thanks again for this effort

I feel Some demonic people were not happy with this and hence in the past couple of years we saw that relgion that came later were trying to demean other religion and trying to prove that only their religion is true and rest is nothing. Whereas Vedic religion thought that everything in nature is praiseworthy and everything that let's you breathe and survive is worthy of the praise that it had shown. Else we all that Nature will not take time to finish the entire Human race. Thanks to the energy within you and outside you. Live in harmony. God is everywhere and so is he in you coz he is positive energy and Demons are the negative energy. Your inclination will get you either close to Positive energy or Negative energy. So choose wisely. Rest all God and religion is good.

Great conversation. As a tuluva and a daiva worshipper myself, I think the guest did a pretty good job in explaining it. there were a couple of inaccuracies, for example Koragajja is not as fierce as Guliga & while speaking of bhoota kola he missed the most important bit called 'yenne boolya' where the daiva enters the daiva patri (the person performing the bhoota kola). Maybe it was lost in editing. But all in all, a very good conversation & there are not many individuals around with enough knowledge in daivaaradhane to seamlessly explain it in English. This is 100% more accurate information from one of the previous podcasts where i believe it was Hari Kumar speaking on it. And just to add, Daivaradhane happens all over mangalore & udupi city and not just in 'dark forests'. The 2 cities are one of the most developed & urban cities of Karnataka, but the people have stuck to their roots.

These type of similar practices are performed in different villages in Himalayas northern mountain villages too every year without miss.😊 They are ceremonies to get together for ppl who scattered all around the globe to come to Village and see these dieties we call devta , kuldevta , istadevta , kuldevis dance and perform and grace and bless the whole village and ppl who worshipping them from generation after generation. They are secret you can say cause only who belong to Village can attend those. And sometimes maybe you get chosen become a vessel for these holy dieties to channel through you. I find it very scary but beautiful at the same time , the shaking of body and energy is inhumane. In lifetime if you get a chance to part of these festivities dont miss them you gonna feel a surge of energy inside you. The divine.❤😊😊 Rituals can be different cause different devtas are involved but fainting , screaming of ppl also happens here. The deity also solves problems of ppl and give warning and also says that hes is there to protect us and at last bless ppl and give prasadam. And yes for these devtas specific jewellery like silver , golden bangles and different garments are made accordingly they already have them as they are worshipped from generation and also a silver incarvings are also there which are worshipped, and palki or dolli of devi processions also can be seen. Wow its astonishing how similar the practices are and type of rules of organising these ceremonies by sarpanch or rich family in village sometimes family chosen by devta.

I am a Maharashtrian so we know something similar which what we call is 'Angat Vaara Yena' which means that a God enters the body of a person especially seen in some temples, during poojas, aartis. I am still very much fascinated with this and hence I would love to be a part of a Bhoot Kola too, because it really feels surreal to be able to talk to Gods and experience their energies. Watching Kantara was an intense experience and actually introduced us to the age-old tradition of Bhoot Kola. I am still astonished by the number of things we don't know that happen in our India. Hii ranveer bhaiya plz bring back Rajrishy Nandy Sir, and ask him the following questions-: 1. How does one figure out the best suited practice and deity for them besides their preference. 2. What practices in our religion differ wrt men and women To give you an example a) The Devya kavacham that is done alongside Durga saptashati has a verse for protection of the doer's wife does that mean women/ girls can't do that. b) The Argala stotram also done alongside Durga saptashati, it's 24 th shlok talks about the doer's wife again. The ending of Argala stotram also promises boon in masculine gender, i.e., nar Does that mean that females can't do these things . Where as the 32 names promises that for everyone, i.e., manushya (I AM NOT A PSEUDO FEMINIST THESE ARE MY GENUINE DOUBTS PLZ CONSIDER THEM) c) Similarly Rajarishy Nandi sir prescribes a 30-40 days sankalpa for siddha kunjika stotram but for quite obvious reasons most females Can't do it, any substitute for us. 3. Another question regarding siddha kunjika stotram. It contains a mantra which is some kind of expanded version of maa Durga's very famous Navarna mantra in the version of it that I read. But the I found another mantra in siddha kunjika stotram on KZbin itself, the name of the channel is Debashish chakraborty. 5. Last, which practices actually differ for males and females in our religion (I mean I know that these differences are genuine). 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Plz consider this humble request bhaiya..

I am from Mumbai & Native place is Udupi.. I also just saw Buta Kola as a ritual.. Later realised, they perform the rituals to reach a trans state. After which, if you ask questions to the Buta Kola performer their answers will shock you bcoz they will give details to you which only you could know & not even your family members knew those details .....

@@sravanichittoor805 ..... * In Coastal Karnataka & Other parts we have "Buta Sthana" ( place where the Panjurli deity is kept). This Buta Sthana place is OUTSIDE of home probably close to the farm or rice fields bcoz Panjurli Daiva protects the crops & people etc. * The doors of the Buta Sthana is closed unlike a temple and is opened if someone wants to worship it but this is specifically done by family members who own the land and house or the farm. * Panjurli & Guliga Daiva are Kshetrapala deities - they take care of that particular shetra or area where the Buta sthana is constructed. * If such a system of Kshetrapala exists in Andhra then it is possible or else it is a close family deity.. * I am not sure, if a photo of Panjurli daiva or Guliga daiva can be taken and kept INSIDE the home and worshipped. * I am going to native in December..I will try to get this information & re-comment after coming back to Mumbai- check your notification later. Bcoz this is a valid question if a photo can be worshipped & if a non-karnataka or Kerala person can worship it.. * Panjurli daiva is incarnation of Vishnu - so you may keep worshipping Vishnuji & Shivji for that matter.
@astroboyAB
@astroboyAB 5 ай бұрын
@@sravanichittoor805... Got the answer.... * Photos of Panjurli Daiva are not available outside.... * Panjurli Daiva or Kalkuda Daiva are kept inside Bhoota Sthana & are worshipped by the family who created the Bhoota sthana for Daiva. * you can visit a place where such a Bhoota sthana is built & take a photo of the daiva to worship & do pooja for Daiva but it is NOT ADVISABLE to do so. * Bcoz once you start doing pooja for daiva. The Daiva by different means will start asking you to build a bhoota sthana for him. Bcoz now Daiva has reached your place & would want you to build a bhoota sthana at your place. * Things can go bad if you do any mistake in this process & you will be clueless why bad things are happening with me & you will come to know abt this only after you visit Panditji... * So basically dont attach yourself with Daiva as it is a difficult process. * Only thing you can do is visit a Buta Kola function & enjoy our traditional culture. Good luck.

These podcasts are getting people like me re-acquainted with our culture and tradition as well as the beliefs that I was not born into in this life. Perhaps, it's got something to do with my past karmas. Maybe that's the reason why I sit mesmerized when I listen to your podcasts on Indian mysticism. After living the first 32 years of my life hemmed in by sins, papal restrictions, fallacies and ignorance, I live a free life today, free from any sort of fear or labelling. A devotee of Lord Vishnumaya, I was blessed with a few opportunities to listen to an Oracle and also attend pujas of Smashan Kali which were performed at midnight in burial grounds. One has to experience to understand what I am trying to convey especially the power of Rudra mantra. My thanks and my love to all of you. Keep up the good work. May Swami bless and keep you all, always.

This is by far the best podcast especially for me because of the fact that I am from Karnataka and a person who has closely watched Kolas. Sir explained daivas, Nagas and bhootas very well and also about the background story of Panjurli, Aiyappa (Harihara putra) and Subrahmanya. For the benefit of the audience, just wanted to add - an upadra (upadrava - simply translated as irritation) can be because of simple facts like someone wearing chappal to the kola place, someone eating non-veg when they aren’t supposed to, someone spitting near the place of worship or where kola is held, not calling someone important to kola, the actual initiator of kola not present (so redo the kola) etc etc.

I really enjoyed this podcast to the core because 1) He spoke so many kannada words. 2) He was talking about the culture that most of the south Indians know. Not just about the tulu bhoota kola. Even in many Kannada speaking cultures there is a concept of daivaradhane, where the diety speaks to you directly. Its was a very common practice which I had witnessed in my childhood.

The patris who perform the kola rituals have to visit the brahmalingeshwara temple once a year to take the vibhooti which is used for performing kola rituals and lord brahmalingeshwara is considered as the head for all the daivas. Certain parts of kundapur also perform kola and there are certain daiva like Haiguli, Marl chikku Nandikeshvara etc are the parivar daivas of the brahmalingeshwara swamy and in some parts of byndoor and kundapur the kola rituals are slightly different but it's all same

Another story says that , Panjurli is the cute piglet which was found by Maa Parvati. She used to pet the piglet. It grew big and started following her everywhere. One day when Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati went to attend a marriage of some king they tied this Panjurli... it waited till their arrival but they were late hence it got angry and started destroying everything around it.. all bhoota ganas went Lord Shiva and begged to stop it... it was unstoppable... Lord shiva with his trident killed panjurli. Maa Parvati was so sad to see that, hence Shiva made the soul of that pig as Bhoota gana.. one of gana or member in his Ghostly empire... as it was blessed by Maa Parvati too... it became devine and calm. These all things haopened in that Parashurama kshetra. And Panjurli became the aradhana daiva of that place... some people also say that Lord Vishnu used his chakra to kill Panjurli and he too blessed Panjurli to be devine...

My Native place is a small village in Savrashtra, Gujarat. I've grown up listening and witnessing stories similar to Kanatara but in instead of Dev, those beings are Devi, I'm typing this with due respect to Maa but have always wondered how can such strong spiritual being enter human bodies, My mind has most of the time, watched people with disbelief who invoke her, but at the same time, got goosebumps and felt a mystical energy around me when the Mantras are chanted, would love to have a deep dive into how this is logical. Thank you for the insightful work that you already do Ranveer, it's helping me understand a lot of unexpressed things. Though it will be a pleasure to watch "TRS presents Buta Kola" I pray your Daiv is already paving way for your Partner so you can pass on the Podcast Legacy instead.
