@@FlyscoutRyder Well, I guess that may be the case if you are off the beaten path. But, on roads with fairly heavy traffic American drivers would scare the hell out of me, I live in Germany very near the Netherlands and Belgium borders, and the cycling infrastructure here is pretty good. One thing I love here is that German single-lane farm roads are mostly paved, and they are linked throughout the country as bicycle routes. Almost zero traffic on those roads, I've. been a subscriber for at least a couple years now.

Had friends think I was absolutely bonkers when I explained that to them. Keep on turning it over!
@FlyscoutRyder21 күн бұрын
@@2008ahbbjj That is a very safe technique. I have great results telling them to "go home". Seems like a common command they hear often. Part of me thinks that the dog's owner wouldn't appreciate you mazing their pet but the other more logical side of me thinks that the owner should keep his dog(s) in their property instead of endangering someone coming by on public roads. Getting startled by an ambushing dog making a rider swerve into traffic is super dangerous. Keep it up and stay safe.

Can confirm, RVs are the worst. I can't understand why. Most people give a lot of space, sometimes I feel a bit "guilty" because they give me 4 meters (12ft). Truckers are the absolute best, hands down. I rarely encounter a truck that gives me less than 6 ft of clearance.
@FlyscoutRyder2 ай бұрын
Truckers are the best. When I'm not touring I miss the interactions with them. I do all I can to not get in their way and they notice so I get a wave or a honk here and there. I'm pretty sure some of them, like logging truckers, give each other "heads up" so they likely know I'm around and conforming. Thanks for watching. Hello Christopher. I guess you are very observant because no one has ever noticed that about my fenders. These fenders, Planet Bikes - Cascade 29"x 65, come with these rubber mud flaps and I don't think they are that necessary so I cut them out. I especially do a lot of cutting the front fender. I also buff them with steal wool and 600 grit wet sand paper to give them a dull look. This is what happens when you spend too much time getting ready for a tour and find this and that to tweak on your bike. Most of the fender work is for aesthetics. Hi Paul. Great to hear from you. Eastern Washington is so beautiful. Season 5, which I did last fall, will be of the Cascades Volcanic Arc riding thru North Cascades and Mt Rainer NP. Plus the rest of the major volcanoes in Oregon and Northern California. While riding I use a GoPro 9. Same camera I’ve used since the beginning of the channel five years ago. They are so tough. I learned to cover them with a $10 foam cover that’s totally findable on the web. Keeps the wind noice away. And lately I cover the mics with foam I cut myself and stick on with double sided tape. I use a handle that extends telescopically and also extends three legs to be able to stand it up. Good luck!
