I was lucky enough to get one. The whole show was amazing, but Kashmir was something else! The red bars in the visuals at the back had a weird perspective to them so they appeared to arch over the crowd (even though it's on a flat screen), very cool.

Led Zeppelin's roots are American Delta Blues, and Robert Plant was made to sing the blues. Check out You Shook Me, The Lemon Song, and Traveling Riverside Blues, and When the Levee Breaks for starters.

My all-time favorite Zepplin tune! I generally prefer the studio versions, but this live one gives a remarkable sound quality without the 'open air' hiss of many live performances & little audience noise. Robert Plant could sing circles around anyone in today's popular music.

Can't wait for your deep dive into Led Zeppelin. You will be amazed by their versatility. Each band member is a master at their craft (voice, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums). You mentioned if Plant came from a blues background. Well, these guys loved the old American blues and jazz music, and many of their songs reflect it. For example, I think you will be amazed by "Since I've Been Loving You" off the studio album, Led Zeppelin 3. The army of LZ fans will be waiting and watching! Enjoy!

Does Robert have roots in the blues you ask……..YES YES YES. His idols as a young teen were the old black blues masters…..ditto for Jimmy. Robert even tells the story about, when he was 15 or so, going to Sony Boy Williamson…..running into his idol in the men’s room and asking for his autograph. Sony Boy basically told Robert to F*** off…….so as Robert was leaving, he passed Sony Boy’s dressing room and helped himself to Sony Boy’s harmonica. He used that harmonica is Zeppelin…….might still use it, I don’t know.

You want to see the drummer play, drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham has a 20 minute drum solo, he played of 200 times. He would do this solo sometime during a 3 to 4 hour straight concert, he beats those drums with his hands too. Greatest drummer ever, & all self taught, you definitely hear him in this band.

Hey Big M, I have heard this song who knows how manty times since I was 12 years old back in 1982 and still listen to it every time it's on the radio, or I'm playing it on cd in my pad, and i am 55....now stairway to heaven , i might pass since I'm a little burned out on it, to be honest, but it's still one of the best songs ever written, period !

Yes, most of the UK bands of this era started covering rock and roll or blues many of them delved into early African American blues from the 20's 30's 40's and 50's. many of these artists had big hits and tours of the UK which inspired the UK bands of the day more so than the US bands of the time this led to the so-called British invasion of the US.

This song live at Knebworth (1979) is with the original drummer John Bonham, though Jason Bonham does his dad proud here. The band loved the blues since they were teens, as soon as new blues records made it to England from America, they were buying them. These guys were the best at doing the blues, check out live at Earls Court May 25, 1975 In My Time Of Dying, it will blow your mind. Their first 2 albums are really bluesy, some blues in the others too. A great slow blues song studio only, is Tea For One, Plant was really missing his wife & kids. So many amazing song from this band, enjoy this amazing rabbit hole journey, thank you for your reaction.

Jason Bonham is using a 26 inch kick drum just like his late great John Bonham! That's how he gets that power! And yes the original studio version had a real orchestra in the recording of Kashmir John Paul Jones did The orchestration and brought in some sessions musicians on the horns and strings! And John Paul Jones played a mellotron at the midsection of the song so yes they did bring in an orchestra for the recording you have good ears you are right about the horns it wasn't keyboards

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been To sit with elders of the gentle race This world has seldom seen They talk of days for which they sit and wait All will be revealed Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace Sounds caress my ear And not a word I heard could I relate The story was quite clear Oh, baby, I been blind Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin' Oh, ooh yes, I been blind Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin' All I see turns to brown As the sun burns the ground And my eyes fill with sand As I scan this wasted land Try to find, try to find the way I feel Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace Like sorts inside a dream Leave the path that led me to that place Yellow desert stream My shangri la beneath the summer moon I will return again As the dust that floats high in June We're moving through Kashmir Oh, father of the four winds fill my sails Cross the sea of years With no provision but an open face Along the straits of fear Oh, when I want, when I'm on my way, yeah And my feet wear my fickle way to stay Ooh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah yeah, But I'm down oh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah Yeah, but I'm down, so down Ooh, my baby, oh, my baby Let me take you there Come on, oh let me take you there Let me take you there Guess they just did took you there
