Random search for my own stuff on youtube and this pops up?! Very suprising since I was never contacted by the developer regarding the usage of this old song and thus had no clue.

<3 You gotta teach us how to make track music.

How long does it take you to write a track like this? Where did you get your samples
@andersarrenius94073 жыл бұрын
@@___joez I honestly can't remember. It's been a long time since I stepped away from tracked music and into the world of Cubase. I'd say for the most part I'd finish a song in one or a couple of days, but that's really all down to how prepared I was. I used to sample a lot of my own sounds and that was more time consuming than the actual compositions. The approach to tracking is quite different to that of more modern software. In some ways it was more inspiring, but it's so much more streamlined working on a modern DAW.

@@andersarrenius9407 Out of curiosity, since someone else asked me about it, where was this track supposed to play in Unreal Tournament? Some people claim that this track was used in custom maps, but for all I know, I don't think I ever heard this in the main game. Mind shedding a little light on the subject?
@andersarrenius94072 жыл бұрын
@@SaviourV See, that's where I can't help you. I played Unreal tournament occasionally back in the days but never heard my music in there myself. I was never contacted about my music by anyone involved in the making of neither the game, nor any mods. So, as far as I know you may be right to never have heard it in-game. I'm clueless myself.

Something about this sounds both sublime and sentimental. Almost like nostalgia without a particular history. The sound of a distant utopian memory . This theme makes me think of a Liandri Grand Tournament champion standing on the first place pedestal with trophy in hand; staring into a vast ocean glistening from the light of a setting sun.

Nice to know that I’m not the only one who feels huge waves of nostalgia for this song.

I just discovered this track a week ago and it takes me back to old Skulltag and Zdoom levels. There were some custom levels that would use demoscene music

I've been looking for this song for AGES ever since I heard it in a custom map from _Unreal._ I can’t remember the name, but it took place in a mine similar to Rrajigar Mine. Thank you SO MUCH for uploading.

RIGHT!? I remember playing this track ALL the time on trackplayers/modded consoles in Unreal 1

blessed 60fps recording with a good sample of what tracker songs looked and sounded like, solid thumbs up for this one

It kinda resembles the Course music track. As if its a close variation of it.

Can someone explain the context to me? Is it a soundtrack that didn't appear in the game?

But... If its composed in 96... Probably is a song for Unreal....Could be an easter egg...

Pretty good, actually. So that's how Alexander Brandon made this track, and many others? What was it called again..."tracker-style"? *EDIT, 15TH MARCH 2022:* Turns out that @Anders Arrenius was the one who originally composed the track, not Alexander Brandon. Please excuse the error, and the delay in updating my original post with this information.

Yes. The soundtrack for Unreal Tournament took the form of tracker music, which packages together both audio samples and sequencing information for triggering those samples.

Krokussify What does it take to make music like this, really? I'm only good at playing by ear; never learnt about musical notes and scales and the like. I mean, this involves both programming and music, right?
@Krokussify9 жыл бұрын
SaviourV You don't need to know any programming language to compose a module. It's all sample-based, however introducing specifications about when to play which instrument, at which pitch, the volume of the notes and any effects is required. Here's a nice introdution to tracking: resources.openmpt.org/tracker_handbook/handbook.htm
