@@Liimpy It's not a matter of the truck being worn out. It's a matter of it being 6 years old with 121,000 miles and still bringing $21,400 at auction because a dealer believes there's some fool out there willing to pay $29,000 for it. People's perception of value is skewed. A dealer near the end of May 2024 sure as heck wouldn't give someone $21,400 on a trade for that truck. And in today's market the idea that there is someone who is willing to AND can get a loan for $28,000 to $29,000 might be flawed. After all, whatever dealer traded for that truck decided they could get more at auction than at retail. Or, it sat for far too long on their lot and they wanted to get rid of it. So maybe they traded for it when trade in prices were higher but couldn't move it before retail prices fell so to auction it goes. By the way, your 2022 duramax is in a completely different class than this truck so you can't judge this by that.

We’re getting close. You can get many base model mid size trucks under or around $30k that are $5-15K under MSRP. Full size pickups are having similar price drops. Of course they overly inflated the prices on average doubling the price (50% ish) compared to the inflation rate the last three years (22% ish) so it’s not like it’s a super good deal relative to inflation, however it’s trending that way in a big hurry. 2025’s are hitting some lots with many 2023’s and even some 2022’s left. Lucky Lopez learned the hard way that in this market you drive it straight from the auction to the lot and begin selling that day or you start loosing money. The good news is that sellers are starting to realize that first money is best money and you don't mess with reserves. And that's before banks begin dumping all the reserves they've got piled up. If you look at google maps in Detroit arounds Jeep / Chrysler plant, there's a sea of cars. I am only guessing, but I assume why franchise dealers don't detail a car before it goes to auction is that the detailers are part of the service department, and the trade-in sits on the sales-side of the books. Each side, sales and service, have their own revenue and profit targets for the month and quarter. So every time the sales-side asks the service-side for work (repairs, inspection, estimates), the sales-side has to "pay" the service-side. If the sales-side knows it's going to auction, they prob don't want to put any more money into the car before selling it (esp if there's a risk of no-sale... they spent $$$ to detail a car that's not going to sell). In watching some of these other YT videos on mechanics, the service side does not appear give any discounts when charging the sales-side (not up front, maybe at the end of the month or quarter, some % might get knocked off).

@@pinschrunner I can only assume the super disgusting ones & bird poops are from repos, abandoned/tow lot, or insurance companies. If someone is going to trade in their car, they won't super clean it, but they prob make it clean enough for trade-in. However, if anyone's traded in a car before, the sales-side is sneaky, and will start with a trade-in value, and then nickel and dime the costs such as a "reconditioning fee", or say "tires look old", "there's some dings", etc that need to get fixed so they can knock the trade in value down.

Living in MN (and MI and Canada prior)... the aversion to rust is a bit funny. I get it that where you're from it's a big detractor. But a bit of surface rust can easily be cleaned up and touched up with some rustoleum. Being now down south, it can't get any worse unless you live by the salty air of the coast.

Red lettering is called the Red Line Package. Blacked out grill, black rims with the red hash marks. It also has the black bow tie. I have that package on my Malibu.

That raptor rust can be cleaned up easily and coated for about 600. As long as no holes in the frame.

That little SKY is a re-badged Eurocar, none other than thenupdated version of the really cool OPEL GT. I loved the old ones that looked like mini-Stingrays. They had what looked like popup lights but they actually flipped sideways! They were controlled by a wire that connected to a lever in the center console, all mechanical. They were awesome! The newer version that was called the SKY over here is actually a sought after little car. It has its fans.

@3:20 Saturn Sky, Opel GT, Pontiac Solstice or Daewoo G2X. They are basically all the same. The 2.0 turbo version with 264 horses is an Opel powerplant. @10:17 It is surface rust but probably would be a tough call for 50 grand.

What's going on right now aren't exactly prices collapsing, but I'm seeing big incentives on the finance side. When that stops working (and it will), I suspect we'll see aggressive price cuts.

$40k for the Raptor, same one in black on Carfax for $38k with 79k miles. 38k-72k same truck with slight variances, seems like the market has no idea what to do with itself.

my local dealers here in central ohio certainly arent dumping trucks... discounts and lease deals are very limited here... inventory is stacked to the gills like it is in your area but they dont seem to want to move it.. my local stellantis dealer wants to trade me out of my 2022 ram lease 6 months early yet wont offer me a very good deal on a new ram to replace it.. so why should I bite on their "want".. if my payment is going to go up 200 bucks a month to get the same truck over again.. I told them they have to get me in the next trim up for me to even consider it.. maybe I need to come to north carolina to buy...

I recently purchased a Ford Maverick because it was reasonably priced. I had to order my Maverck and wait 6 months for delivery. A barebones F-150 with four-wheel drive started at 60k. With interest rates, a new F-150 payment was MORE than my mortgage payment. Who can afford a barebones Truck with $1000+ monthly payments?

Up here nobody would blink an eye with that "rust" on the raptor. Different worlds we live in. I love seeing all these old cars you can sell for cheap down there they would be completely rotted away here.

If it's a Toyota, surface rust like that is a red flag because by the time it's visible in the wheel well like this, there are cancerous rust spots that aren't visible without crawling under it.

😂 I had a 65 mustang when I was a kid and a motorcycle crossed over the double yellow. I went over the curb to avoid killing him. His foot peg ripped the entire side like a can of tuna. I had to drive it for a month with the seatbelt looped through the grab handle like that to hold the door closed. 🤦🏻♂️

The car market has priced most people out. I have 2 older pickup trucks. 1 diesel and 1 small pickup. To replace my 21 yr old diesel is 110000 to start. My small pickup I simply can't replace. Unless I want a 4 ft bed. This whole thing has gone stupid. My small pickup is 28 yrs old and has a 6 ft bed and Is perfect for hauling everything. It's simply cheaper to restore them and keep them.
