This is the future of interactions between DCC apps and game engines for sure. I love it. I hope USD becomes a good open standard for every software. Also Daryl you have an absolutely amazing and concise method for explaining things in the easiest to understand terms. I appreciate your contribution to Maya learning and now Unreal learning, it's very beneficial to the industry over all...so thank you!

Thank you for the demo! Is it possible to stream alembics from the disk without importing it in Unreal Engine? What are the limitations of the Maya Live Link plugin?

Would a character rig with nonlinear deformers controls be able to benefit from live link or would that need to be done as a cache?

41:08 I don't get it, since it was introduced, LiveLink was only used to stream animation between Maya and Unreal and pretty much use Unreal as a "render preview" camera, but you still had to export the animation from maya as FBX. Since when can it be synced with Sequencer and share the timeline and keys ? How can one set it up ? Thanks

@@loistanweilin USD is just for the overall stage, i was talking about the maya > unreal workflow trough LiveLink > Sequencer... after rewatching the bit, it seems this feature is not in the current version of LiveLink. gotta wait a bit for it i guess. thanks anyway

The messed up maya hik setup for metahuman body rig now works fine with maya 2022.

I am trying to stablish a consistent workflow between maya and unreal engine, using USD. Everything is going well, except that the only way I found to export all textures, in a PBR mode was using USD preview shader inside Maya, that let you assign Albedo, Metallic, Roughness and Normal maps. Unreal imports all maps, and create the shader, except that the roughness map doesnt have any effect. Its like Roughness is disable. I tried everything I could, like change type of map, bits, etc. Nothing works. And of course, sRGB is turned off. Any ideas what can be? :)

No it doesn't, if you want a reliable UE5 workflow you need to use Maya, Blender isn't there yet and won't be for a while

Yes you can since both software are available in Mac , UE5 not released yet for mac maybe soon :)
