The cancelled figures that hit me the hardest were Uber Jason and updated versions of Wolf Predator and the Predalien.

I don’t think NECA ever made a prototype for Uber Jason. I imagine that they were planning to continue the ultimate Friday the 13th line but I don’t think it goes any further than that. With that said, I hope they continue with the line in the future!

It’s a crying shame that we didn’t get Brody to finish the Jaws team but you have to respect the family or estates decisions not to release likeness rights. Though who wouldn’t want to be immortalised with a Neca figure ? Good video 👍

Also, the Zombie Ed was supposedly a massive reject due to the terrible paint job that the factory did in general and most that are out there are the prodution figures that were abandoned. They used to be a lot cheaper but have inflated over time. The sculpt is totally there, and if you can paint you are all set.

I hear more and more information about this figure as time goes by, I’m glad I said it was speculation in the video haha! I have heard about the awful paint jobs but I assume that was done by whoever is producing the knock offs

Great list! While not a horror movie figure per se, I'm still sad about a Horror game figure cancellation. In 2016 Toy Fair NECA revealed a retro inspired Castlevania Simon Belmont with NES deco, accessories and awesome Nintendo Cartridge style packaging. At the bottom said: "PROTOTYPE: PENDING LICENSOR APPROVAL" aka Konami. I was stoked as the originals from 2007 are amazing. Turns out Konami hated the design and nixed the figure then and there...the only remaining prototype in the world is likely sitting in a forgotten Konami office drawer in Toyko, Japan. Strangely, they approved the CONTRA two pack with a similar style. What a nightmare.

That would have been a great release too! Castlevania still stands as one of the best NES games (and one of the hardest too 😂) it’s annoying when the licensing doesn’t go to plan and these great figures get blocked from release

I’ve been going back and getting more and more older NECA figures when I can and they’re stunning. It’s sad so many figures got cancelled. The ones I was personally devastated over being cancelled were the engineer from Hellraiser (can’t remember why it was cancelled), and O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill (cancelled because the actress wouldn’t approve her likeness).

The likeness stuff is honestly a nightmare as it has resulted in so many great figures being blocked from release! The old NECA still hold up today and some of them are genuinely incredible!

I recall being very excited for the Neca Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 "hobo" Myers release that he showed prototype pics of on his MySpace. I spent two years trying to find that figure only to realize it had never actually been released. I believe you can still find those pics online though?

Oof very nostalgic some of these figures. I hate seeing something get to good prototypes, or worse pre-orders, only to end up cancelled. My big 'missed opportunity' more than unreleased figure, but I was super bummed Neca never did a retro cloth Cropsy from The Burning when they were doing the Shout Factory bundles. He would've fit in so well with the Miner.

That would have been a really cool left field sort of figure release! Hopefully there will be future figure collaborations with Scream Factory because it has resulted in some amazing figures coming out, I picked up The Fog one not long ago!

It would have been great to see that Nightmare Part 3 Freddy Marionette Figure. Nightmare Part 3 is still my favorite although I have not seen it since I was younger. I am surprised with everything out there today and over-saturated that they didn't put out a "Dream Warriors' box set that has Kinkaid, Joey, Kristen, Taryn. Hey throw in Philip with a mini marionette Freddy Puppet! Thanks for another good video!

Supposedly Richard O'Brian didn't want to do that style of figure. It wasn't Curry being the problem. Richard owns the rights to the license and wouldn't let them do it it that style.

I still collect some of the new Ultimates figures but i regret not collecting these Cult Classics Line. I too love when figures come with dioramas. I have the Crow Reflections set but the Halloween Michael and Loomis set is my grail set. Been wanting that one for years

I remember my NECA dealer telling me that the puppet was releasing soon a bunch of times and it never happened. I read that especially back in the day the Chinese factories just stole a lot of NECA’s molds. That’s why there’s so many bootleg ninja turtles and Gears of War figures.

I wouldn't say they stole them as they didn't move them or anything, from what I heard is people would just go in the factory at night or stay late and run the machines with whatever cheap plastic or scraps they could get (couldn't touch the goodstuff they used during the day as that was paid for and accounted for)

The puppet was pulled more or less at the last minute because I seem to remember that too! There’s a lot of bootlegs out there and every single day I’m seeing more and more people getting scammed. It’s definitely for the best to not order from eBay specifically if the order is from China

Great video ! What did you think of Evil Dead Rise ? I didn't like the change to the dark apartment complex. I like the creepy woods atmosphere of the other movies. It was nice and gory though. Nice shirt , I live outside of Grand Rapids, Mi. Keep on making these great monster videos !

I have the zombie Ed figure. My theory is that it is the actual neca figure abandoned. All the details of the sculpts are crisp and paint job is good on hand. The main issue I think was the paint they used for the wet stain on his shirt is sticky and it did not pass their quality control and have to cancel the figure. Also, one of the give away if a figure is bootleg is that the copyright markings on the bottom of the foot or base is blurry. But the zombie Ed fig has a sharp markings on its base.

That’s really interesting! As far as I am aware the figure IS a bootleg as I have seen differences in every copy of the figure that I’ve seen an image of which more than likely wouldn’t be the case if the figure did go to production phase. Another thing is that I believe the figure is still getting produced using the moulds - either way, it’s a super interesting story in NECA and horror figure history

There’s been various other collectibles made based on the Brody character, it really sucks that of all the figures, it was this one that got axed. I also hope something happens with it in the future and he gets released!
