I feel like the punch was/still is a convenient way for others to explain the trade. Maybe the greater reason was Poole was no longer content with being a bench player, behind the core 3. If he were to stay in GS, it would have been at least another 2-3 years before he was given a starter role/leader. He's a young guy who wanted to continue growing and expanding his game. It's like working with a bunch of really talented people, you learn a lot but at some point you want to venture out to see what you can do.
