I am intrigued with the idea that Satan’s temptations were actually just one temptation. “Who do you think you are?” It is how he challenges us all the time. I love how the scriptures are so deep. My father lived to be 102 years old. To the very end of his life he read and re read the Book of Mormon and every once in awhile he would say “When did they put that in there?” I loved how he could still be surprised by revelation💕💕💕💕 That is how I feel when we deep dive into the scriptures we already have👍👍

Your story brought to my mind what my father said. He was confined to bed for quite a while before his early death at age 63 in 1974. He was always reading the scriptures and other Gospel books. His come back when people asked him why he read so much was: "I am studying for finals". He was a righteous man throughout his life. I miss him and am looking forward to seeing him again.

For me one of the greatest truths in the Book of Mormon is by Abinadi. Mosiah 16:6,7. In each of the two verses, look at the first line, and then the last two lines. It will read as follows. Verse 6 - ...if Christ had not come there could have been no redemption. Verse 7 - ...if Christ had not risen there could have been no resurrection.

I have studied this scripture block many times over (so far in my sixty+ years of my earth-life) - I study it many more times before I listen to Bro Halverson’s “Unshaken” and I come away feeling even more enthusiasm for Gods words. How beautiful are the feet that stand upon Zion to teach and preach the gospel! I too listen to Tyler Griffin and the Fullmer Brothers and many others after I study my scripture block! I can’t get too much of the gospel Thank you Brother Halverson for adding to my understanding and helping me and all who desire to learn from your years of serious study of the gospel. your enthusiasm excitement and love for HIS TRUTH is contagious! I feel enlightened by the Holy Ghost as I listen to your testimony - you radiates HIS love for others- what a beautiful testimony you have of Jesus Christ! Brother Halverson and each person that adds their own thoughts here in this forum -I thank you and pray for you! I listen and learn from every testimony shared on this feed. Brother Halverson you always help me understand more, and cause me to think of things I hadn’t thought of or considered before! Thank you! They say that the prophets can study one single verse for years. I totally get why! I think I feel that way too. Thank you Brother Halverson for sacrificing your own time so that others enthusiasm for HIS word grows! I learn by the Holy Ghost as you share your insights and testimony each week!! Abinadi has always been (dare I say) one of my “favorite” prophets. Perhaps we were friends in the pre existence, I hope so! This unshaken episode I’ve listened to more than any other I suspect more than four times now. I feel the conviction of your testimony Brother and it strengthens my own. Come let us rejoice and be unified together! Rejoice in Christ! He is my Savior and your Savior and Abinadi’s Savior! :) I am not a streamliner myself (nor does it seem was Elder Maxwell or Abinadi lol) I get excited about the truths Ive learn in my study! It’s natural to want to share truth with others. God bless you!

Now I understand why ex-husband denies the spiritual experiences he had leading up to baptism and following baptism. He didn't want to change his lifestyle. He story he tells himself is that i forced or manipulated him into baptism. My recollection is that he initiated an appointment with the. Missionaries without My knowledge. And now he claims that all churches have truth and therefore there is no need to attend any single one (which makes no sense to me) but the reality is he believes in the creator but lacks the faith to change his behavior. I carried around this guilt that I had somehow caused him to lose faith because I have this belief that I'm not good enough constantly competing with my faith in Jesus Christ who assures me I am enough. Next time he blames me I'm not going to fall for that guilt trip. Thank you for this lesson.

It's interesting to think that the temptations of Christ follow a specific order that parallels human development. Of course, everything I am about to say is incredibly simplified, but the temptation of succumbing to the natural man could be said to be the most prevalent to teenagers. Then, the temptation of pride is tied closely to our college years. Lastly, the temptation of worldly wealth and grandeur is front and center as we earn our living as adults. There is an order to all things 😄

Brother Halverson, imho, righteous and wicked people can't really be compared to each other as "equals" since they are, literally, not equal in their respective states/conditions of spirituality with the exception of the righteousness of one is equal to the wickedness of the other and vice-versa in the lengths or extremes of their respective spiritual states/conditions. So, I guess in that way, they are "equals" but that would be it. I call them (the righteous and the wicked) "contrasts" because their respective spiritual states/conditions are in stark contrast to each other, if that makes any sense.

Can someone clarify some parts. Why does King Noah organize a council with his priests to determine what do to with Abinadi (Mosiah 12:17) when one chapter earlier it said the king already made a decree to slay him (11:28)? Mosiah 13:5 compares the shining face of Abinadi with the shining face of Moses but I notice that in Abinadi's case, his face was shining when he was speaking with the king but Moses face was shining after he had spoken with God on Mount Sinai. In the case of Moses, the shining eventually wore off. The shining in Abinadi's case stopped as soon as he finished speaking with the king. Mosiah 13:17-19 teaches about six literal days of creation so people could know how long they were to keep the Sabbath day holy. If a Sabbath day was hundreds of years in length, they would not be in compliance. "Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; But the seventh day, the sabbath of the Lord thy God, thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is; wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it".

@explorerofmind Ай бұрын
In Mosiah 11 Noah commands that Abinadi be brought before him to kill him. In Mosiah 12 Noah eventually catches Abinadi and he is brought before the King for a trial with the purpose of killing him. Eventually they isolate the exact words they will use against Abinadi to justify killing him. They need to council among themselves how to trap him in his words and what words to use against him. The shining face of Moses and Abinadi represent the power of God illuminating their souls. In the case of Moses it happened because God spoke to him, in the case of Abinadi it happened because God spoke through him. When we imitate the Almighty God while we are mortal we do it in lesser degrees. The creation periods of Man have been appointed to be shorter than the creation periods of God. We can’t live thousands of years. So our days only last 24 hours.

Just my add... you mentioned that Christ was tempted by Lucifer with Bread, Leaping and Kingdoms (treasure). I think we've missed the point of the third one. (1) The first, Bread, is sustenance for one's self. Internal. This is an Aaronic test. Aaronic ordinances work towards cleansing one's self from sin and caring for one's self. (2) Second test, leaping and having angels rescue you. This one is of Melchizedec Gospel order, where we are asked to serve others (with pure heart, not just the law), to look outward, but Christ is tempted by him to have others serve Him. (3) The third... Here's my reasoning why first... . The highest degree in the Celestial Kingdom is reserved for those who keep their Celestial Marriage Covenant, are pure before God, and live like Him, looking to future generations. This is the Kingdom and Glory of those that live the law of Consecration. The lowest level are those that care for self. The next degree up learn to master their heart and seek outwardly to help others. The highest degree give 100% all day and Glory in the eternal. They are masters of time. They need no rest from labor, as their work and Glory is their labor for all into eternity. This is the Patriarchal Gospel, Law and Priesthood. . Now back to the "Kingdoms" Lucifer offers Christ... I think he's offering rulership through time... over all others (Terrestrial) and things/money (Telestial). That's the test. . He may have offered what he will never have nor can he give to Christ, but I believe that's what he's (deceiptfully) offering.

It is apparent that you are a master at misdirection regarding Mosiah 11. In this entire video you spent 4 minutes on this chapter and spoke in broad generalities to avoid obvious comparisons. The prophet Mormon obviously wants his latter-day reader to recognize his prophecy that king Noah will represent and mean something to his LDS reader to warn them what would happen to them.

@@Unshaken The BoM is a book of prophecy. The prophet Mormon gave his latter day reader cherry picked character and events that would mean something to them specifically. Here is a great example. Jacob 1:15 And now it came to pass that the people of Nephi, under the reign of the SECOND king, began to grow hard in their hearts, and indulge themselves somewhat in wicked practices, such as like unto David of old desiring many wives and concubines, and also Solomon, his son. Jacob 2:23 But the word of God burdens me because of your grosser crimes. For behold, thus saith the Lord: This people begin to wax in iniquity; they understand not the scriptures, for they seek to excuse themselves in committing whoredoms, because of the things which were written concerning David, and Solomon his son. 24 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord. Mosiah 11:1 And now it came to pass that Zeniff conferred the kingdom upon Noah, one of his sons; therefore Noah began to reign in his stead; and he did not walk in the ways of his father. 2 For behold, he did not keep the commandments of God, but he did walk after the desires of his own heart. And he had many wives and concubines. And he did cause his people to commit sin, and do that which was abominable in the sight of the Lord. Yea, and they did commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness. 4 And all this did he take to support himself, and his wives and his concubines; and also his priests, and their wives and their concubines; thus he had changed the affairs of the kingdom. The Book of Mormon warns us several times what a 2nd “king” would do. Who is this 2nd “king” or president? A continued reading of Mosiah 11 and the specifics that Mormon gives us in this chapter has very real parallels that we are to understand. Who built themselves a spacious palace, who became the richest person in Utah at this time, where did he get the money, who instituted polygyny and caused his people to error, who built wineries. We can understand who this 2nd king is if we look at Mosiah 9, with King Zeniff and liken what is said about him to Joseph Smith and the King of the Lamanites to the Governor of Missouri.

I found this interesting quote from William Marks who was stake president in Nauvoo and he seems to understand a latter day apostasy is prophesied in scripture. We have made that which is evil and abominable, the doctrine of having multiple wives and concubines, into something that can be godly and right. "You see from John C Bennett’s time there had been so many rumors going the rounds, I was fearful that there might be something in the stories afloat that might implicate Joseph. But Joseph was so free and positive in his denunciation of polygamy in every form, that I took courage; and I could see Joseph was in earnest and felt just as I did about it. But before the Sunday following our conversation, Joseph was having his suit, and he was killed before he had a chance to commence his investigation against those whom he had suspicioned of teaching it privily. But I thought he had been deceived in some of the men and elders of the church, and had too much confidence in some of them. But I guess it was to be so to fulfill the Scriptures in relation to the latter-day apostasy.”

He isn't going to speak out against his church or leaders, even if this is true. He has a conflict of interest by being employed by the church.

You do a good job, but beware of Pride. We must all be aware of pride, right? So what makes you think that your words are more important than the words printed in the Book of Mormon? The time of your videos could be cut in half.

Do you really think Br Halverson thinks that? His comentary is intermingled with scripture to help show how it applies to us in this current society. The length of the lesson is what it needs to be. All good.

If he takes up too much of your time go somewhere else. You aren't forced to watch him. Brother Halverson has an incredible gift that we would be wise to learn from. I hope you can see that and benefit from him.

Seriously? I guess you're a troll. He's really cut down the time on his videos. I love how he teaches.

@@janjones4550 Ah, the trite comment of a true Latter Day Saint. “Go somewhere else.” Good answer. Be proud. You just caused Bro. Halverson to lose another subscriber. I have recommended Halverson to at least ten people. Everyone of them except one listened to a link I shared. ONE. The reason why the others refused? “His lessons are too long.” “He repeats the same principle over and over. Just get on with it.” “I don’t have the time for his videos.” I tried. I tried to get people to listen. You have no idea who you are talking to. With 20 years of stake leadership, do you know what the one thing that the Stake President wanted us to teach? “Beware of pride. For it is pride that causes teachers to go overtime. Are their words more important than the others ? No ma’am. My time is valuable. I’d rather spend it with my nose in the scriptures and have the Holy Ghost be my teacher than listen to the repetitive ramblings of Halverson. My critic was given with the intention to help him. Your answer was judgmental and “GO SOMEWHERE ELSE” Really? That answer is what gives Latter Day Saints a bad name. You can bet your life that I will go somewhere else. You did nothing but harm me and him. Why? Because instead of suggesting one to check out his podcast, I will most definitely warn people of it. Not just because of him, but because of people like you. God bless.

@@alisadunn5443 I guess you’re a troll. I don’t know you from Adam and you don’t know me, but let’s be Christ-like by judging one another. Good job. ps: I love how he teaches too. Too bad you’re such a bad example. An accuser. An unrighteous judge. Seriously.
