"The pen community" really supports things like this, which is why it's "popular". I could never justify the cost. It just doesn't make sense to me. I have to be careful where I say that, however. Once I mentioned something similar in a Reddit post and people were not happy. They basically labeled me as a monster that just doesn't get it. I have several pens that I enjoy writing with that are all nice and cost

Jerry Fahrni what pens less than $20 do you recommend?
@ruozhuoli63864 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. I spend much more than $50 on a pen, but they must be worth the money. This Baron Fig to me is a very lazy and talentless design, instead of minimalistic. I would not even pay $5 for it.

I’ve recently subscribed and haven’t watched much else except for your stuff lately... you’ve probably heard it before but I think your service to several pen communities is impressive. Cheers for helping me make more informed choices and feeling better about the money I shouldn’t be spending lol

Mine is an early model. The refill doesn't retract deep enough so it makes contact with the fold of cloth in my shirt pocket. It then wicks the ink out of the refill. Hopefully they addressed this in later models.

There's nothing about the Squire that draws me in. While I enjoy using both Energel gel and Acroball hybrid ink, I'm not a fan of the body of either the Philography or Drive. Of all the pens advertised here, the one that gets my vote for style would be the Retro. I also like the way it fits in my hand and the ink refill that comes in it. When I want to write with a smaller tip, I fill it with the Ohto Flash Dry gel refill. Thanks for the video!

I just got the same edition a couple weeks ago and have really enjoyed it. The cost is high (they do have some discount codes or refer friend codes) but my opinion it’s worth it to try one because they really got the balance of the pen perfect, also longer writing it is really comfortable.

Minimalist pen, I like it. The misalignment thing drives me nuts, I bought a stainless steel Jotter and it was slightly misaligned, not really noticeable but I can feel it. I gave it away.

I recently purchased one of these pens, I love the feel of it in my hand, but I'm not happy with the weighting feel of the rollerball filler. Do you know of a ballpoint refill that will work in the pen?

Have you heard of Big Idea Design? They have several models of pens that will accept many different ball-point, gel, and rollerball refills in the same body. They have one that will take over 750 refill versions, but I bought the "Ti Click EDC Pen" in titanium which only adapts to 100+. They are expensive but that is understandable with the material and manufacturing processes involved. Mine came with a Schneider rollerball refill which is pretty good, but I put in a Pentel EnerGel which extends the overall length. Although it's called the "Click" it is almost silent in action, which seems a little disconcerting. It has shallow grooves in the grip area but it can still be slippery, especially if you use it in a work environment like me where your hands can get oil on them. I wish they had a knurled grip like on a Pilot S10 drafting pencil. It seems like the mechanism worked better with the original refill, because the EnerGel sometimes has to be clicked twice to open or retract. I think it's basically just the fact that it has a very smooth and quiet action so you don't get the tactile feedback to use enough pressure on it. All in all it is an interesting concept that would be perfect for your type of experimentation if you can stomach the price. bigidesign.com bigidesign.com/collections/pens/products/ti-click-edc-pen

@@unsharpen Yeah, I got $5 off for signing up but it was still $95. The "Ti Ultra Pen" is $240 but it can convert to a fountain pen and includes two grips, a steel nib and a titanium nib, which really isn't unreasonable. But I usually find that gizmos that are convertible usually don't perform as well as individual tools. Still they are quite clever.

I can't see myself ever buying it. Just the name 'Error 404' screams a brand that's trying too desperately to be ironic. Those tolerances would also drive me wild when $5 Japanese pens ace that sort of stuff and a pen without a clip means I'd spend half my life picking it up from the floor. Great review though.

No clip is a bolt choice, why did they do it? Seems like they wanted you to have to buy their notebooks.

You can still put a clip from the Fisher Space Pen. The clips are meant for the bullet Space pen and cost about $5 each, but they fit really nicely on the Baronfig.

Raphael to be fair it is a nice high quality pen (I’ve used one). It’s just a little overpriced. If they were about 35 USD or had a nice clip it would be about right. I’ve also used a Retro 51 tornado and prefer the shape of the Baron Fig.
