I love my sharpies; however, they bleed through paper, so I can't use them in my note-taking. These felt-tip pens are great alternatives! Minimum to no bleed-through. I use them to create headers in written work or to add colored flourishes to an otherwise boring page. In addition to the colors Sal mentions, they also come in yellow, yellow ochre, brown, grey, and sky blue. Thanks for the video!

Fun fact: Pentel Sign Pen went to space earlier than Fisher Space Pen. Pentel Sign Pen wasn’t popular in Japan at first. Pentel exhibited Sign Pen at an international trade fair of stationary in Chicago, hoping for epic recovery. A presidential spokesman got Sign Pen there, and it caught the President’s eyes (Lyndon Johnson) later. Sign Pen became popular as the pen that used by the President, then Japan reimported it and it became popular in Japan also. In 1965, NASA adopted Sign Pen as the official space pen and used in Project Gemini. It could write under the state of zero-gravity because of the capillary action. Pentel Sign Pen became the most popular felt tip pen in Japan, and “Sign Pen” became the term that expresses felt tip pens in general in Japanese.

Interesting! I think this also may be the reason why people in the Philippines refer to felt tip markers, especially Sharpies as "Pentel Pens".

Great review as always. I’ve used these in the past and they are smooth and put down a good amount of ink. Love the blue.

I bought one after watching this video from my local arts store (in black). I’ve been using it to write my kanji flashcards, and love it. Just ordered a twelve pack! : )

These are especially good for annotating printed documents and signing letters etc. Especially useful if you carry a black, red and green. Better than Paperrmate Flair, lasts x5 as long.

Question. I've tried tons of felt tips pens in sketching including the sign pen and I always feel that I'm drawing with a nail. The tips is just unforgiving and scratchy. I finally found one I enjoy the line weight the paper mate flair. Problem is they are so damn unreliable. I bought a box and I don't think any have last more than a month (regardless of amount drawn) I can grab one out of the box and it's dead dry. Get another and it might go for a month the next a few days before it gives out. Can you recommend anything that has that similar line weight and feel without being a crap shoot for quality.

given the water based composition of the ink, its only really useful for writing on paper, which means the sharpie mostly supplanted it for signing a variety of stuff. i love these for writing though

I love this PEN. Use one often sold @ Winco grocery here in Phoenix in a 2 pack for $2.79/$2.39. Don't rember. Be nice if they came on a variety of colors Only seen black.

They do also sell a pigment version which is permanent. In my opinion the permanent version is better because you want a signature to be permanent especially if it's a legal document or something like that. So a pen that is made for signatures should be permanent

I am a lefty too. I avoid most ballpoint pens because they tend to smear. Two that works for me are Pilot Acroball 0.7 and Schneider Slider 0.7. Smooth, non-smearing, and comfortable even after hours of writing.
