Bastion Titanium Bolt-Action Pen Review

This is a review of the Bastion Titanium Bolt Action pen ( amzn.to/3w7YfWV ). It's also sold in a black model ( amzn.to/3iIH4s4 ), which I haven't tested. This pen weight 47 grams vs. 81 grams for the stainless steel model, which means it's a much better writer as (for me) 81 grams is just too heavy fora pen. This Ti model is still hefty, but it's much more comfortable and more in line with that I'm looking for from a machined pen.

I put a different spring in mine to make it smoother to open and close. It made all the difference.

Which spring if you dont mind me asking?

I took a spring out of a ball point pen and used it. If it is too stiff you can cut it to size or stretch it to loosen it and then cut it to size.

You got me addicted to pens a while ago now I'm addicted to machined pens. Fellhoelter, Nottingham, tactile turn. Those are my favorite. Especially with all different materials and the craftsmanship.

@@unsharpen definitely not pens for long writing I definitely agree haha. But yeah my favorite thing about some machined pens there are guys around the work especially for fellhoelter who can machine any material for any part of you're pen. I absolutely love that you can have you're own taste made just for you.

I had two of the stainless steel ones & hated them! And so they were given away. But I love the titanium one! So much so that I got the mechanical pencil as well and carry that pair often. I also have 6 of the aluminum pens because I use 6 different ink colors for setting up my Bible reading schedule. They are super lightweight and very easy to write with. I also have the carbon fiber with black stainless steel pen. It is a beautiful pen, but it does not weigh that much less than the stainless steel one. It was my initial replacement for the stainless steel "beast." But it does not get that much carry time and/or usage time because of its weight. Great video, well done. Thank you.

Which is lighter? aluminum or titanium?

I have the Titanium Ballpoint Pen Pencil Fountain pen If you like fountain pens, would suggest you to buy that too but change the crappy nib immediately. The pen is so beautifully made.

I love/hate my stainless one, I love how over the top it is and how well-made and durable it is, but I hate to write one postcard address with it and I needed to take a break. For the price, I can't complain, it's worth the novelty. I thought about getting it in Ti, but honestly I just love my BigIdeadesign TiArto and twist (or whatever the twist to open one is call) in brass.

Hi, According to their website (I guess it's given without refill): - Bolt Stainless Steel => 2.6 oz - Bolt Titanium => 1.6 oz - Slim Stainless Steel => 0.8 oz - Slim Titanium => 0.8 oz I don't get how it is possible to have the same value for the slim version (stainless steel / titanium), I would expect 0.6 oz for TI one.

Interesting. I haven’t tried the slim models yet but what are noted makes sense. Unless maybe the titanium needs to be thicker than the steel

Thanks for the comparison! It helped me make the right choice (for me). I prefer the slightly more sleek darker look of the titanium metal, and I like heavier pens but dang that steel one is a beast. So despite the higher price, I went for the titanium 👍🏻

Are these bolt action pens still popular? I used to own these, but I have since graduated to fountain pens (Pilot, Kaweco, Faber castell, Lamy, etc). I found these bolt action pens heavy and less interesting over time.

I had the stainless steel but sold it away as it doesn't work for me. Is too smooth to hold and I cannot use to write with it for more than a paragraph. Also, it is too heavy for stainless steel version. Do take note of this especially for anyone who cannot use a pen with smooth surfaces.
