After the program episode ended we would all gather around the kitchen table and discuss some of the segments that was on that nite, especially the UFO segments. @@Booth1667 Lots of suspects over the years. I truly believe "Dan Cooper" wasn't American. Part of the reason no one knew who he was. Dan Cooper was a character in a French comic book. Google it. In the comic series he was a Canadian military paratrooper and adventurist that did crazy missions. This episode wasn't too detailed about the hijacking. He asked for "negotiable American money". No American talks like that. The flight attendants said he had "no particular accent". There are only a few spots in the world where one doesn't have accents. Those spots are in french-english provinces in Canada. Quebec, Saskatchewan and Ontario. "No money ever turned up into circulation". Banks stopped looking for serial numbers around 6 months after the hijack. They were too busy to examine every 20$ bill that passes through. This is just one theory though. Who the hell knows..

The coroner that said those boys had passed out on the train tracks due to being high on marijuana is a fucking idiot and needs to get his license revoked. I don't even smoke weed and I know that Benadryl is more of a sedative than fucking weed is. There's no way in hell weed could ever sedate you to the point where you wouldn't wake up to the sound of a train horn. Those horns are so fucking loud that even if you are passed out on 20mg of Xanax you would probably still wake up.

These episodes bring back so many memories. I can remember far back as maybe being 4 years old and me and my mom lived with my nana and papa before getting our own place. We would sleep on the pull out mattress in the living room and every night me and my mon would lay in bed and my nana. would sit on her recliner and watch TV with us and this was one of the shows we watched the most together. My nana is no longer with us unfortunately so everytime I see these shows now and listen to the intro music and hear Robert's voice I get emotional sometimes thinking of those nights. Can't believe its been 30 years now

The case of Dan Cooper has fascinated me for as long as I've been alive. Everything about the case, from Cooper's everyman appearance (A raincoat, business suit, briefcase), the aircraft hijacked (A Boeing 727), the location over which Cooper made his escape (The semi-mountainous, forested Pacific Northwest) and even the _alias provided_ (That being, of course, Dan Cooper) indicates to me that Cooper, whoever he may be or may have been, knew _exactly_ what he was doing - This wasn't a spur-of-the-moment skyjacking, it was a deliberate, and I believe, _successful_ attempt at air piracy. I believe Cooper had a military background and some general knowledge of the Boeing 727, which he both used to execute his daring midnight jump.

He wasn't successful, unfortunately. They found a center chunk of that 20 pound brick of cash embedded into a sandbank on the Columbia river. Untouched meaning the packets of bills were in the same order as when they were put into the bank bag. Cooper lost the money. Is that successful? Idk. @@jessestewart169 Prosecutor Richard Garrett had another autopsy conducted on Kevin and Don; it stated that there was evidence of stab wounds on Don's shirt and that Kevin had apparently been struck in the head with a rifle butt. As a result, the investigation changed from probable homicide to definite homicide. Tips to the telecenter suggested that Kevin and Don were murdered by drug dealers, and that they may have stumbled onto them with the drugs. Garrett was later interviewed by Robert Stack; he claimed that there is drug trafficking throughout Bryant that also is connected to several other states. He believes that Kevin and Don stumbled on a drug lab that manufactured methamphetamine and that they were killed as a result. He also suspects that there was some sort of police cover-up involved in the case. However, no suspects were ever named in the case. In 1995, the investigation into Kevin and Don's murders was officially closed without their killer captured or identified. Their families have conducted their own investigations and are still hoping that the case can be solved. A local witness later came forward, claiming that on the night of the murders, he saw two police officers beating two boys senseless in a store parking lot before tossing them into a truck and driving away. It is unknown whether or not they were Kevin and Don. In 1996, Linda Ives released the video, "Obstruction of Justice," detailing the botched investigation and a cover-up of an alleged drug ring in Saline County. Several people have been implicated in this conspiracy which has involved numerous investigations and two grand juries. In 2018, Billy Jack Haynes, a former wrestler, came forward, claiming that he had witnessed Kevin and Don's murders. However, many do not consider him to be a credible source. Sadly, Garrett passed away on October 23, 2018 at age 72 without acquiring any resolution to the case

In 2019 that same $20 is $127. If someone wanted to get a one way ticket, like Cooper did, from Portland to Seattle on the same day it's as low as $159 according to Priceline.com. If you waited a week you could get that same ticket for $114 and if you waited one month you could get that same ticket for $59. When you consider average middle class income at that time was roughly $8,000 to $10,000 a year at most you would be bringing home $192.30 before taxes so let's just say about $170.00 after taxes. The fact is the price of that same flight is only a little bit more and even cheaper if you wait a few days now than it was then and $20 was NOT cheap back then.
