My brother was healed in a church. My brother had a bad infection in his hip, and my parents could not afford the surgery. My dad took him to a prayer meeting at a church, Assembly of God if I remember right. I do remember my brother limping before that prayer meeting, and never limping again after. As skeptical as I am, that infection disappeared within an hour of the prayers, without any other treatment that I am aware of. At least, nothing was taken that night, because the pharmacy wasn't open for anything to be picked up, even if the doctor did prescribe something. It was a tiny town, and pharmacy hours were short back then. (I don't know what kind of infection, or why it needed surgery and not just meds. I was a teen stuck in her own world, the fact I even noticed my brother was in pain is rather amazing.) I am happy that he is running his own business with his lovely wife, his oldest son is in college, and his youngest is finding her way in this crazy world.

@@heavenismydomicile3280t being 1991 probably worked in the suspect’s favor though. There weren’t security cameras in most places and there was only one witness to the crime. It would have been very easy for him to slip away into the night and never be caught, especially if he wasn’t from the area. It’s crazy but some people are just out to kill someone. There was a similar case on the show where a man driving very early in the morning was shot and killed by a man who side swiped him. They’ve also never found that guy either, because there were no other witnesses and he just drove away into the darkness. I really think Jean is telling the truth.

It’s pretty unbelievable that Jean would step out of her car look at the gun man for five seconds or so after Dick Hanson was shot twice once in the chest and once in the neck and died within minutes. It’s been 28 years since this murder case happened and there’s still no leads and it’s still unsolved unbelievable.

I think she was the one who was actually being stalked and she wasn't aware of it, and when her stalker saw her going out with this man, it triggered him into a violent rage. So many women are stalked for a variety of reasons by psychos and delusionals...when he pointed to her car, I wonder if he was actually gesturing towards HER, and that's why that poor guy Dick said "get outta here!" Everything fits in with this lady having a stalker including that defiant gaze, after he killed her friend. I cannot fathom the police not investigating that angle...disgruntled sports fan? Really? That's a pathetic theory. Nobody's gonna track down two people, risk an accident or getting potentially assaulted themselves, and shoot an innocent man twice over football.

Ruby Bradford McDaniel died in 2006 at the age of 98. Sadly three of her five children predeceased her. Sadly she never met her sister Vernicey. She died in an accident in the 1940s. Ruby did get to meet Verniceys children, however.

I think that lady Jean had a stalker she was not aware of until he emerged from the shadows that night. I sincerely hope the police investigated that theory. It makes sense in the context of the information she gave...down to the last details of her saying he acted as if he could "read her mind" (aka possibly had trailed her without her knowing, by car many times before) and the 10 second stare he gave her after murdering her friend (sign of defiance, delusion or a mix of both). It's as if he *wanted* her to know that it was HIM who did this...wanted her to see the face of the man who struck down her boyfriend. That sounds mighty personally-driven to me. Most violent criminals don't want eye-witnesses. My theory is that Jean had an unhinged, obsessed and dangerous stalker who was watching her for a while without her knowledge and lashed out violently when he saw her with this man.

On the other hand, it looked like the guy was stalking "Jean" and not Dick. FYI, "Jean" appeared on the show "Dates From Hell" wearing a cheap wig and showing her face.

I haven't seen the "Dates from Hell" segment yet. I just Googled it and IMDB says it was from 2014. Wow. She was *still* concealing her appearance after all this time. She must've been really freakin' scared. I didn't know that info about Hansen--if that was true, it gives an interesting perspective to the case, a whole new dimension. But I still don't get the parts about Jean being so closely shadowed and her being left alive. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally why the killer would leave her as a witness. Whether the crime centered around Jean or Dick Hansen though, it seems clear that there really is something deeper to what happened that night....this case truly fascinates me. I want to see if I can find that Dates from Hell episode.

Yes the Cops have Jean as a witness, but without a DNA hit or even a weapon, this case will be extremely tough to solve as witness' memories tend to fade over time. Not sure if the suspect was pointing at Jean or her car? As well, UM reenactments sometime leave out certain details, not sure if that was the case here or not. I hope for Dick's daughters sakes that the case gets solved, but only time will tell.

I see 3 possibilities here: she did it (for one of the above reasons), the guy was a hit hired by his ex-wife, or she was being stalked and he was jealous (thus he didn't kill her). However, the third seems less likely as he would ultimately try to confront her at some point vs just disappearing altogether. The disgruntled fan seems off to me because SHE was driving the car, but HE looked like the 49er. Doesn't make sense. And why would a millionaire player be at some Applebee's type of place... Just doesn't seem likely.

The handful of Lourdes miracles are indeed extraordinary, but at a rate of 65 miracles over more than 120 years out of millions of visitors a year (up to around 5 million a season) when this was broadcast, that's so rare that it can hardly be called miraculous. I do know of at least one man who went there terminally ill and was disappointed and appalled by how commercial and exploitative he found it. He, like hundreds of millions of others, was not healed. (See "And the Band Played On," by Randy Shilts.)

The woman cured miraculously certainly seems sincere. It is something I do want to believe at times. But if it were true why just her? I had a wonderful grandmother who had the strongest faith in God. And she was taken from my family far too soon. I miss her every day. I know she wouldn't want me to lose faith, though. Dick Hanson’s story was also featured on Dates from Hell season 3, episode 3 on the Investigation Discovery channel. What’s interesting is the “actress” playing Jean on UM is the same woman that’s being interviewed as the real Jean on Dates from Hell. Why would a person participate in the reenactment just to remain anonymous on the UM interview? Weird. I wonder if any DNA evidence was collected to later catch the killer. He could very much be on DNA ancestry or maybe hasn’t been caught in another crime. Either way, I hope Justice is served. His daughters deserve to know who did this and why.

You will never get me to not believe in Lourdes. I have never been, but I pray one day I will be able to go there. however I don't have to be there to know in my heart that the Blessed mother worked a miracle when she appeared to Saint Bernadette. I used to brush it off as a kid and teenager, but I remember my mother telling me you really need to look into Bernadette, your gonna like her. Well I used to always say yeah whatever, then one day I to this day believe had a vision/ dream and from that day on Saint Bernadette is my other patron saint, along with Saint Therese of Lisieux.
