That Vietnam vet story was beautiful. It is especially meaningful is this current climate of racial division and conflict. It IS possible for people to get along, respect, and even LOVE each other, regardless of race. This was one of the most heartwarming and necessary segments of Unsolved Mysteries.

James and Mitchell's story is probably one of my top 5 favorite stories in the series. The Vietnam War was happening in a time where racial tension was and still is the norm. Two men who were outed for their race became close friends, and defied military protocol to make sure that they would make it out of the war alive. The reunion was just a very powerful moment indeed. If it wasn't for James, Mitchell would have most likely died in the field of battle. This is a friendship that will truly last beyond a lifetime.

In the depiction of Tony's body on the bed and the gun on the floor, that doesn't add up either, yet no one mentions that. Both hands are laying on him, yet the guns 4 feet from his head and nowhere near either hand, nor is either hand said to be tested for gunpowder residue. I also didn't hear the police excuse for all the injuries Tony sustained as well.
@fz1000red3 жыл бұрын
There is no issue with the gun being found 4 feet from the body. Suicides by gunshot to the head yield many unexpected and unpredictable reactions by the body. Some people literally jump up, flop around into odd looking positions, and the onset of rigor mortis can change the positioning of the body, and even again once rigor wears off and tissue breakdown is picking up speed. I've investigated far more deaths than I expected during my law enforcement career. Suicides are sad and extremely traumatic for those left behind to think about their missing loved ones. My oldest son committed suicide a year and a week ago, in very similar circumstances as the young man in this video. It is truly more traumatizing than any other experience in my lifetime. I'm left with many questions that will never be answered, which brings me back to this case. Let there be no doubt about it, I know what the young man's parents feel as a result of their son's premature demise. It's so deeply painful and very very sad that no other broken bone or physical injury can come near the same level of pain. You don't want to believe your bright, good looking and very much loved son, loved by all who knew him, is gone forever and by his own hand. His parents are much too traumatized to form a clear picture and understanding of the totality of the circumstances contrubuting to making a decision that has permanent and irrevocable consequences. After the passage of time things like his DUII arrest, loss of driver's license, car impounded, seeing women even knowing he was inserting himself into ongoing relationships and most likely getting beat up for it would be really big things to the mind of a young man his age, and his parents will be able to learn much more about his activities the last few days before his death.

If "therapuetic touch" has a placebo effect for some people, thats a real effect. If someone has real confidence in a treatment or medicine that is *at least harmless and isn't replacing other proven treatment* Then it is probably worthwhile for the patient because the scientific evidence is that it can actually help. There is even a Nocebo effect...if you strongly disbelieve in a treatment or medicine, it wont help as much as it should. All very interesting and odd.

You're assuming that none of this was investigated by the cops. Both the Coroner and DA's office (both of whom also have investigative powers as well) also concluded it was a suicide. So either the Coroner's and DA's offices are also as lazy and incompetent as the Police, or a real investigation took place and concluded it was a suicide.
@jeremyashton50403 жыл бұрын
@@sergeiyzerman7240 Nope, Not assuming at all. There are many cases where cops automatically rule a death a suicide without further investigate (after watching 1000s of true crime shows). Thus some LEO/DAs ARE Lazy.

*Suspected Suicide* Police: We found traces of metal on his hands. Me: Ok? Did you run a GSR to see if he had weapon carbon on his hands, dipshits? 🤨 Everyone of these "possible suicide" cases never make ANY mention of running a GSR. Which should kind of be a given.

So, a 22 year old man decided to commit suicide lying down in bed, this makes zero sense. No, Tony did not commit suicide and the police department needs to stop acting incompetent. It's upsetting to hear them say that.
@HueyRocks23 Жыл бұрын
Like the 3 other stories I know of on this show where the cops were either incompetent or just covering up. Kid who goes hunting and never came home; a good cop in a small New Mexico town dead after arresting a local weed grower; and the kid who got locked up in Jackson, MS, all died by suicide per the cops.

The death of Tony Lombardi sounds very enigmatic. I wonder at what time a medical examiner has determined he died? Was he cold to touch when first responders arrived? His family seems to believe that he was killed in his bed. If I were the killer, I wouldn't take the risk of bringing him back to his house since he lived with his parent or parents even if I wanted to make it look like his death is suicide. So has any of their neighbors heard a gun shot? Have they seen a suspicious car? He is too young to die. But he seems to have had a risky life style if he was seeing three women at the same time.

Forensically, Tony's cause of death should be easy to determine whether or not it was a suicide. All the investigators had to do was check his hands for gun powder residue. Case solved.
@danadams64777 ай бұрын
There is just not enough info or evidence given for the viewing audience to successfully determine what exactly happened to Tony. It was mentioned that Tony had three lady friends he was seeing. They didn't specifically state that he was romantically involved with them. Perhaps Tony was gay or bisexual, and was targeted because of that? Many things in this case don't add up.

It never matters how many times I've watched that segment (which is AT LEAST 60-70 times minimum), I break down every single time and sob. To the point where sometimes I skip over it, if I'm having a bit of a trying day, or if I have somewhere to go and don't want my makeup all messed up, because it always ends with me looking like a drunk mime. Such and increadibly touching segment, and in my opinion THE MOST touching segment in UM history. James and Mitchell make me proud to be an American. (Especially considering they are both minorities, fighting for a country during a time when blacks and Asians weren't always treated well on the front lines, and in fact were often treated poorly by memebers of the country they were defending, and putting their lives on the lives for.) They are the embodiment of what we should all strive to emulate. I'm already so beyond grateful to all servicemen, past, present, and future...but I have an extra debt of gratitude towards James and Mitchell, and all the other servicemen of their ilk. They are a wonderful example of the human spirit.
