I've seen alot of unsolved mysteries but this one today of the 17 year old girl and what she went through on her own from her family and the Nazi Govt for helping US Airman, loving and heroic Helen, one of the most heart warming stories i've ever viewed on Mysteries. Thanks to KZbin and Robert Stack for this and all the others you've shown over the years. Todays date 4-10-23

Helen's childhood sounds a lot like my maternal grandmother except my grandma was an orphan by age 12 and was forced to live with an abusive grandmother who was wealthy but forced my grandma to work as a maid. When my grandma turned 16, she immediately left and never looked back. Ended up working as a medical secretary, met my grandpa, got 5 kids and adopted 5 more as well! She still has a huge heart of gold and I'm lucky to still have her in my life 💖 Love you mamama!

Thanks to a viewer's tip, Helen Rose Myerion was found living in West Chester, New York, where she had lived since 1986. Her daughter and granddaughter were put in contact with Helen's siblings and they made arrangements for a reunion. Her siblings have since passed away, but she remained in contact with them until their deaths.

Just watched such an amazing interview with Robert Stack within the last decade of his life. Few things I learned: an actor who was close w many of the great movie stars like Judy Garland. He was Italian. How handsome he was (you can’t see his face so clearly. He had amazing eyes and hair.). This series made me scared of the host. The association with the scary unsolved cases with Robert Stack narrating and asking for the public’s help. He was just such a delight; the complete opposite of frightening. Wish he was still alive. He made this series great RIP Robert Stack

Wonderful story - but I don't get this at all - something seems fishy, we're probably not getting the whole story - you'd think that the airmen, after the war, would look FOR HER, in gratitude, instead of the other way around ? They'd be like falling over each other, trying to find their benefactor - nothing, and she goes looking FOR THEM ?

It confounds me as I sit here watching this show in rapt fascination; a show that is 30 years old covering stories much older than that like WWII. I can't help but feel it would have been much more simpler during that era. Helen was amazing. God bless her. Edit today, 6 June 2022: it's very sad that the policemen, and lawyers, etc, when they get a syspect, refuse to look elsewhere, i.e. for the real truth, and instead fixate on a sad solution that salves the problem, and the case at hand. The police still do it today. They hang onto one idea, one suspect that they believe is guilty, and totally neglect looking anywhere else! They need to follow the evidence, gather everything, and if something doesn't fit, then find out why- not throw out what doesn't make sense to them, and only present evidence that matches their scenario, rather than the crime scene. To do otherwise is shoddy policework.

The update to the boston strangler has me wondering......i remember watching unsolved mysteries and alberts brother was on the show and mary sullivans sister and marys nephew and they were both saying they didnt think albert did it,so they took dna from alberts brothers ,and got some dna from the last victim mary,and they said it DID NOT MATCH ALBERTS DNA? now this has just said the opposite.???

Heya Joanne, great comment! indeed in the Strangler/Sullivan segment that can be found on the Murders dvd set, nothing linked DeSalvo to Mary's murder. The main theory was that a former boyfriend of Mary's roommate had done it, before leaving town. Personally I thought it was a great lead. That episode was produced in 2002, and the new evidences against DeSalvo came in 2013 - either the tests made before the episode were inconclusive due to the evidences collected at the scene and on Mary's body (which happens on a regular basis), or they were being processed at the time the segment was produced. It's a good question, and it would be great to have a specific timeline as to what was done and when. Worth looking into. 👍

I still can't believe Robert Stack is gone. I remember him as though he were my relative. Desalvo left a witness behind. Although she was so traumatized by the horrible experience she probably saw him but hid and later identified him by his picture. I believe she went back to her country. America raises too many killlers!😈😈😈

Wait... I’m confused. With the second story- Helen who helped the American airmen. Was Helen Jewish? She went into a Catholic Church for help. Which I assumed would mean she was Catholic. But then it was revealed Helen was in a Concentration Camp. Were any non Jews taken to become prisoners?
@thepaleone
@thepaleone 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. Their 'cleansing' list included far more people than jews; gay people, black people, foreigners, etc. Anyone who wasn't a Caucasian German who was in Germany at the time was at risk. I assume she went to that church because churches are generally viewed as sanctuaries regardless of the associated religion.

Catholics were a targeted group as well, due to their belief in human life as scared, e.g. no abortion, euthanizing, capital punishment etc. Many priests and also other clergy were put away for that belief, which is incompatible with the eugenics movement the Nazi's espoused. Also, political prisoners of various types like Communists and even apolitical groups, such as Jehovah's witnesses were targeted
