Wow hats off to the new city management. I went to St. Rose in Chelsea as a child and lived in East Boston. I moved to the south shore in the 90's and came back and forth during the last 15 years. I have now lived and worked in Chelsea as a real estate agent and things are great! Thanks for making it easier for me to make a living.

Moved from Chelsea in August 1961. Would go back there. From Newport, Ri to see my grandma. Left Newport in Feb 1969. Would go back every year.

I lived in Chelsea from 1990-1995. I left in the summer 95, before I turned 15. I absolutely hated it there. Worst place I ever lived. I lived on Bellingham st., Highland St, and Washington Ave. Was I glad that I moved out? Hell yeah! Have I been back since? Only with my brother a few times because he still has friends there. He graduated from Chelsea High

I lived in Chelsea back in 1998 rite across the street from Bosson Park back before they remodeled and pretty much ruined it! I half to admit those were like the best year's of my life especially being a kid. its like when you walked outside the sun just seemed to shine brighter, the community was so blended and joined, I remember all the programs and people came to the park and all the families and people joined in and we all had so much fun, it was even the place I had my very 1st love, he was my best friend and I always wanted to move back. I go there now and idk what happened, but u defiantly doesn't feel like the place I once loved so much, the park is mostly empty and it's just like a sadness has taken over.

We, at Hispanic Mission of Chelsea, did what we had to do to help the social situation and today, we can say God was with us, of all the churches in Chelsea, we were selected to show the better part of a city dying.

I AM BORN AND RAISED IN CHELSEA & SO IS MY FAMILY. I WOULD NOT GIVE YOU 2 CENTS FOR THE CITY TODAY. OF COURSE CAUSE OF ITS LOCATION TO BOSTON ITS PROPERTY TODAY IS WORTH $$. IT WAS A GREAT CITY TO GROW UP IN. YES GREAT. EVERYONE SORT OF KNEW EVERYONE. BUTCHIE PUT ME ON CITY PERMANENTLY. JOEL PUT ME ON BEFORE THAT PART TIME. I KNOW THE CITY AND ITS PEOPLE. ITS NOT THE CITY I GREW UP IN. SAMMIE ALSO DID SOME GOOD THINGS FOR THE CITY. JIM CARLIN SUCKED..I REMEMBER HIM WELL. I NO LONGER LIVE THERE ALL THOUGH I STILL HAVE A LITTLE FAMILY LEFT THERE. I PASS TROUGH ONCE IN A WHILE FOR A JUG PIZZA BUT THAT IS IT. CHELSEA WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. JOSH IS NOT ORIGINALLY FROM CHELSEA. HE OWNED A BAR A WROTE FOR THE RECORD. SO YES HE KNOWS CHELSEA BUT HE WAS NOT BORN AND RAISED THERE.

I grew up in Chelsea in the 80s and 90s and it was the greatest place on earth to grow up in, you could do just about anything you wanted to, as long as you paid the right people, 80 percent of the police were corrupt and the mayors were puppets for the mob, I graduated CHS in 85 and seen it all, drugs being delivered in police cars, shit, Mayor Brennon was a freekn bartender, barfly on 5th Street before being put in as Mayor, one Mr Whitey Bulgers favorite cities for getting donations, the city went on under the radar like this for so many years, it was like growing up in the wild west with no good guys but if you grew up there you were family, Chelsea people back then kept Chelsea business in Chelsea, all the corruption, murders and drug dealing, what a great movie it would make, I hope to finish a book I started about growing up there in the 80s and early 90s but I know there are more than a few people who wouldnt like that lol, but when people ask me where I grew up I always lift my head high and say Chelsea, Mass, the title of my book was either going to be Chelsea: City by the Sea or because of the success of Mystic River, Across the Mystic River Chelsea city by the sea. it will be a blend of The Town and Goodfellas meets The Departed, fun fact, Leornado DiCaprio did a ride along with 2 Chelsea detectives who I am friends of to learn our Boston accent and mannerisms, Chelsea Strong Chelsea Proud, salute!!!!

I had no idea Chelsea had such a dark past. It's a lot better now and it's about fucking time they fixed the roads. For years I complained about the roads and the year I moved is when they began a massive upgrade. Irony.

I know it took several years to fix Everett Ave but that was because they replaced all the utilities underneath and also had to plan with the MBTA for the Silver Line. They told me when I reported Locke Street was that before they pave the road, they need to check everything underneath. Once that is done, it goes to the companies to compete for the job. Just so you know, it took them 2 years before anything was done for Locke..

Overall Chelsea has made some small progress in the form new businesses amongst other growth, but there is some sort of corruption I just don't know much about it. Chelsea is filled with the most feminine looking woman I have seen in Massachusetts. Can somebody explain to me why women in Chelsea are so feminine looking? I saw and felt the estrogen level there. I liked it. Contrast this to Boston, the women there mostly dress business professional and fashion trendy-they don't look as feminine. In Boston they don't wear as much make-up either with respect to Chelsea.

I remember stories about James F. Carlin and his students when they came into 100 Nashua Street in Boston. He wanted to eliminate everything and everyone who was not essential to state government. As Secretary Of Transportation and Construction he told then Commissioner Dean P. Amidnon to layoff workers. He never did and as a result went back to being D.H.E. in Lenox which is District One's Headquarters. This man never smiles and always told his students to listen before destroying them. Unfortunately one of his students failed to heed the waring and as result was fired from his position in 2000 by Governor Paul Celucci. Believe me he was the toughest man on the planet and I have never forgotten that lesson.

Lots of young, professional, white, people are moving to chelsea now. It will be the new Southie, Charlestown, Somerville, ETC. And say what you want about the "white" comment, but where white people are, money follows. Just a fact. Give Chelsea 10 years, and it'll be a decent city again.
