@satapon4129
@satapon4129 2 жыл бұрын
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 I don't think it would be in a TV PSA though? Suicide is treated as something to be hush hush about in Japan, so it'd probably be more unlikely a few years ago. It's most likely a PSA about being safe neat trains. Also, I can't imagine how popular suicide by train (especially at a crossing) would be in Japan, wouldn't an anti-suicide PSA use something like a noose instead?
@JesterQueenAnne
@JesterQueenAnne 2 жыл бұрын
@@satapon4129 being an anti-suicide PSA would make more sense for the time of the day it was aired at and for why it's hard to find now, since I'd see authorities deciding to remove it and companies denying being involved if that was the case. About a noose being better, I digress, since using a train for the PSA even if less popular of a method is a more impactful one, and the constant sound makes it more eerie and sure to stay in the viewer's mind.

@@JesterQueenAnne I just don't think Japan, a country that didn't start trying to focus on mental health until recently, would allow that sort of advert on TV regardless of time. I really respect those media companies that have actually helped the online communities to find something. For example The Most Mysterious Song of the Internet (Like a Wind) is a good example of this - German radio stations and radio show hosts from the 1980's have actually tried to find that song from their archives. But sadly the name of the band or the song are still not found.

A few things I can remember about the Charlie Caillou thing: It was on a separate PBS channel but it did air at the same time as another PBS channel. It was the same show with the same actors and possibly the same episode. It could very likely have had another difference in the form of it being the audio description version; those versions of channels/shows where an audio narrator describes what's happening as it does. It seemingly had nothing to do with avoiding copyrights, and it has nothing to do with another cartoon than Caillou. I'm personally convinced it was the result of a process of localizing the foreign name for a Western audience.

I do recall hearing on a KZbin documentary on Caillou that during the early to mid 2000s there were attempts to slightly rebrand the show to avoid the bad press of it and did release some episodes with altered dialogs as tests to see if it helped any. Unfortunately they came to the conclusion that it was the behavior and not the dialog that parents hated the portrayal of and the project was dropped though the altered episodes continued circulation for a while until the rights to air them expired. Not entirely sure if it is true but that was the explanation given in the documentary and as a whole it was very well researched.

I doubt that Caillou one ever existed, OP seems to be the only person who remembers it and they very well could have mixed up Caillou and that other Charlie show over the years or even had a dream about them mixed together as a kid but ended up thinking it was legit. A re-dub of that still in US English makes no sense. I don't even see how it would help it from a copyright stand point as it's still the same show, if there was an issue with it, they wouldn't be allowed to air it in the first place regardless of the name change, I wouldn't just be able to throw Pokemon on a TV channel I made and change the name to Piketman and be fine. Unless you want to start getting into alternate universe/mandela effect stuff but still, with those there's still a large amount of people who remember the incorrect details.

It was sometime during the late evening approaching Nick@Nite hours on a random weeknight, so definitely not during the Kids’ Choice Awards. My theory has always been that somebody working at the network snuck it in during a random ad break, as it seemed completely unpredictable and I never saw it on tv again. I believe it may have surfaced on the internet at some point, I’m nearly positive that I watched it again somewhere, sometime in the last ten years. I really do hope that someday, these lost media programs will finally be solved, cause I do wanna check out the original pilot for the short-lived cartoon, Jimmy Two-Shoes, which was far more aimed for adults compared to the final show, and see it in full animation as opposed to only images. Of course, it always gets so aggravating that just when we're getting close to the finish line, we run into several more roadblocks. XD I also wanna see the Dragon Ball Z clip in its entirety in the JBVO segment as I do have some nostalgia from watching it back in the early 2000's, though I don't know how much I've watched of it, nor do I remember recording any of it. At any rate, another solid lost media video, LSSQ! :D Can't wait for the next one!

All I know about Caillou is that there's a Canadian version where the narrator is reading "The Story Of Caillou" to two children; one could potentially be named Charlie. Also the original source material for Caillou was called Lollipop. My mom would read it to me all the time as a kid.
@TurtleCraftZ1
@TurtleCraftZ1 2 жыл бұрын
I don't imagine the Caillou Charlie episode exists. The Caillou cartoon was based on a series of children's books, I don't imagine they'd create a cartoon based on a pre-existing series of books and then change the name of the main character, even if it was just for a test pilot or something. Seems unrealistic to me unless it was some dub created locally to get around copyright with PBS.

Yeah I remember watching a french dub here in Canada of Caillou where he had a different name and it was the only program on the channel that was constantly set to Described Video mode with a narrator, but I don't understand how there could be an english version where only the name is changed. It would almost be more believable with more differences.

Hey, just an important tidbit in your search, back in the day teen nick and the slap had its own channel on certain providers, so it could’ve aired specifically on that channel. I can vividly remember watching teen nick midday back in the day. Making it possibly more provider exclusive. I guess that may just also depend on tv providers in your area. Maybe try to find the general area people claimed they saw it in, and try to figure out the provider at that time (if said people could recall), I feel like that might eliminate a bit and unearth more.

I'm leaning towards the Charlie/Caillou thing being bullshit but I can think of one reason such a change would have been proposed, had a few episodes made, and accidentally released. If OP's timeline matches with the early and mid 2000's (especially 2003-2006), it was 1) the heyday of taking out foreign references in anime and other imported cartoons, even if having a French name is hardly uncommon even in the US, and 2) when stupid shit like changing french fries to "freedom fries" was going on due to France's opposition to invading Iraq. Since PBS is federally funded, there could have been talks to toe the line lest they get another funding cut that ultimately didn't get adopted.

This is actually really similar to something that happened in TVO in Canada. Theres some British cartoon called "Little Charley Bear" (at least I think it's british). When it aired in Canada on TVO, it was changed to "Little Wilfey Bear". Which is really strange. But if you look deep enough, you actually can find the Wilfey version on KZbin in low quality. The Charlie thing doesn't track for me. If it's not a test dub, I don't see any reason for it existing. Only thing I can see is that they probably intended to sell the series to syndication as a back-up if PBS passed on it and they had to give it less of a French Canadian name, and somehow those test episodes got mixed into one station's master tapes. I'm getting "Berenstein Bears" vibes from this.

I remember the Oswald commercial. I’m surprised others remember it too, enough to want to rediscover it. My account of the commercial though may be a little different from others, as I don’t remember it to a T but I figure that I may be able to help on it: -As far as I remember, there was no censored swearing in the commercial. There may have been, but I don’t remember there being any and I personally don’t think there was -It may have not been Ozzy Osbourne but an impersonator or even new voice clips by Ozzy done for the commercial. Obviously Ozzy swore a lot in his reality show, I’d imagine finding a sentence where he didn’t swear was difficult. However I do think it was voice clips from the show, with just Ozzy mumbling something -This I’m not sure about, but I think the commercial aired on Nickelodeon and not the Nick Jr. block. This would make some sense, as older kids would likely be more familiar with The Osbournes than pre-schoolers, not to mention I don’t think it’d be considered as inappropriate to air on Nickelodeon than on Nick Jr. Kind of odd this obscure Nick Jr. show had two crossover commercials when it was airing, the other being one with Spongebob Squarepants, which fortunately is not lost

I remember watching it on tv either on Channels like Jetix/Disney XD, Disney channel or Cartoon Network, boomerang could also be an option. I think the short is around the 2010s It was about a man feeding fishes on a fountain. It was a comedy short and the story went like this: A man was on a park and every time he attempted to feed the fishes who were on a fountain, the big fishes would always horde all the food leaving the smallest of the fishes without food because all of the other fishes were faster, stronger and were always able to get to the food first. The man attempted to feed the tiny fish a couple of times, but every time the bigger fishes would always get to the food first Leaving the small fish without eating. The man getting fed up with this decided to put hot sauce on the fishes food in hopes the big fishes would take the bait and let the small fish eat. But unfortunately that didn’t happen and when the man gave them the sabotaged food (which was now more reddish in tone) all the fishes except the tiny one turned away from it, as if they knew it had been sabotaged. The man looked horrified as the tiny fish eat the sabotaged food and for a moment it seemed like he had killed the little fish. I remember there was another character, I don’t remember if he was a guard or a police officer or a bystander, but he noticed the man feeding the fishes was acting weird and decided to approach him. The man feeding the fishes upon seeing someone was approaching him panicked and I believe he tried to hide the fish in his clothes (I can’t recall if this is exactly what happens, but something similar along those lines) it turns out the fish was alive and Ok, and now moving around, this startled the man and made him fall into the fountain.

I'm still looking for an animated segment from a late night horror host in San Jose. I made mention of it on a closing logo wiki but apparently they mistook me for some guy that trolled their website, lol. I don't recall if it was a "closing logo" per say, but it always did close out the show. It was those 90's horror hosts that would play old bad b-movie horrors from the70s and 60s or farther back, sometimes with riffs on them MST3K-style; one night while he was riffing on Jack Nicholson/Boris Karloff's "The Terror" the show had this weird crude animation where some headless horseman would ride off the production logo with some jank SFX. It's not "Leap Off Productions" but was a pretty amusing parody of some kind with it. I'm not making it up 'cause I saw this as a kid in the very early 90's and kinda kicked off my fondness for closing logo stuff. It's really nothing special but I'd be amazed if someone who knew what I was talking about would help me find it.

So there was a cartoon about the viewer that fell thru the roof of a magician’s house and the magician saying “you broke thru my roof, oh well it’s ok” and another cartoon where the main character goes to a retired magician in a apartment, to get a magic wand/hat, it was probably aired at 2015 because I was 5 at that time and it was in the Philipines
