Another Canadian option that has been around for many years is Briggs and Little Country Roving out of New Brunswick. It can be purchased directly from the mill, or from any retailer who carry their yarns. Copied from their site: Briggs and Little Country Roving is a super bulky, roving, 5 ply, 100% pure unspun wool. This wool is super soft and works up into beautiful Cowichan outdoor sweaters, vests, hats, mittens, scarves, crafts and more. Made in Canada. Hand wash and lay flat to dry. Weight: 6 - Super Bulky | Ball Weight: 8 oz. / 227 g | Ball Length: 155 yds / 142 m | Content: 100% Wool

I am SO glad KZbin suggested your video. I am obsessed with everything. 🥹🥹🥹 I took a trip to Norway in January and stumbled across a yarn shop. I was still a newbie and I glanced at the huge disks of yarn like that and I thought it looked strange. Now that I know how they are used.. I definitely need these yarns. 😍 I literally want to buy all of them. I love natural rustic warm colors. Also love the ones that came in the paper wrapping. It’s good to eliminate plastic wherever possible. I don’t mind the crinkly sounds lol!

Thank you for doing this video about the unspun yarns and working with them single, double and how to knit with them in general. It was also interesting how you worked with the yarn in your tubular bind off. Those are the kind of tips we all need. I just purchased some Plotulopi to make myself a sweater for next winter and have never knit with unspun before. So for me, this was helpful information and I'm looking forward to working with it and seeing how it turns out. Thank you very much.

I have the Nutiden Tallbark for my first garment knitted with an unspun yarn. I’ve been nervous to knit with it, but decided to knit something simple like the Felix pullover. I just ordered the Infinitiv color way by Nutiden so I need to get started on the Felix. Thanks for all your tips; it will help a lot. One question - does the Nutiden pill with wear over time? Your garments are spectacular! I loved seeing the Tallbark knit up!!!

I've started balling up my Nutiden following Caroline's method, which she's demonstrated on her Patreon videos. She prefers many small balls (~5-7cm would be my guess), instead of larger balls, since the smaller balls don't draft when you're knit straight from them. With larger balls, I find you have to manually unwind yarn from it as you knit, because the weight of the ball dragging on the end of the loose strand will start to draft and eventually break the yarn.
@ruiknits2 жыл бұрын
Ahh the balls I make are center pull since I don’t like unwinding from the ball

I just love your videos and thank you for them. I recently started using Plotulopi and just love it. I have had it in my stash for over a year and finally found a pattern I liked and mustered up the courage to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it is to knit with. My question to you is where might I find more patterns that are geared more for the unspun types of yarns? Your sweaters are just lovely and I hope to order some nutiden and start another pattern once I find one that works well with it. Thanks for your help!
@ruiknits Жыл бұрын
Yay that’s good to hear! Any pattern can technically use unspun, it’s up to your preference. I gravitate towards the dk-worsted weight patterns.

Yes! I always bind off 1x1 rib with Italian bind off. Just be sure to rub the tail to “felt” it for an easier time pulling through the stitches.

I'd love to see some more patterns you plan to make with unspun yarn or something like that just because I rarely see anyone talk about them even though they're so versatile.
