It blew my mind back in the day even though I didn't understand 70% of it. haha I also started classical guitar around the time I played it and I loved the music. @@Kybroma as I get older I lose patience for grinding in games. I wish both discs were in graphic novel format. But the grind is part of the journey.

@@taylordiclemente5163 I hear ya, I flit back and forth between being OCD and loving the grind, and wanting to see the story haha. My favorite thing to do was grind up my deathblows, so that Fei could beat the early Gear enemies on foot. It made the grind worth it, haha.

I love Xenogears to death. It is one of my top 3 favourite games of all time. I have beat it dozens of times and for some reason it doesn't get boring. I try to play it once a year or more if I can. Always fun trying new team comps. The music is so well done and nostalgic. As is your playing John, well done.

Xenogears is my all time favorite RPG. IT would be so awesome if you could play through the whole soundtrack. While it was clearly unfinished, it's story, heroes, and music is so spectacular and powerful. Amazing to hear this. Great job.

Imo yes. I'd also recommend the Resonant Arc podcast series on KZbin where they do a deep dive of a lot of the concepts the game goes into. It really helped illuminate the story for me and made me appreciate it even more.

I listened to a bit of their podcast on Final Fantasy VI (still ongoing) but my nostalgia brain closed it out of spite when they trashed the original SNES Woolsey translation. I love a big deep lore-filled world with lots of characters and interlocked stories (Final Fantasy Tactics, Games of Thrones, etc.), so maybe I should give Xenogears a whirl...

the game is a little rushed toward the end where it kind of goes into a story telling / text mode for a bit but honestly if you can get over that, the game is really good, and quite a mind fuck. Just be prepared for a lot of dialogue and to be confused for awhile. its one of the deepest most tangled and convoluted stories ever but its really good and one of those games that is even better the next time you play through it cause everything makes a lot more sense.
