Picked up a new tractor today. An Unstyled John Deere A. It has nice paint, and runs and drives, but there are still some things that need to be fixed. We're excited! #johndeere #tractor #farming

The snow covered mountains around the valley are beautiful and majestic! You probably don’t notice them most the time, living there and all, but to a Missourian they sure do stand out!

That a really nice A. A little tuning and she’ll be smooth as the rest of your fleet. Your laid back story telling style brings an enchantment to your everyday living experiences. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much. Yes, hopefully we can get it the few bugs figured out. It's probably the best starting point we've ever started with.

Looks like you found a nice tractor. Hopefully, not in need of too much work, but that's part of the fun. You are very lucky to be able to spend time with your dad and doing something you both enjoy. I lost my dad when I was just 20 and miss him terribly. So, it warms my heart to watch the two of you.

As I know the recommended shutdown procedure is to shut off the gas at the tank and let it use up the gas in the carb until it quits, and keep the valve shut until you want to run the tractor again. This will prevent 90 percent of flooding problems. This same procedure was recommended by Deere and also Caterpillar for shutting down the pony engine as well

That's a beautiful looking tractor already. I've never been to Utah, that scenery was also very lovely.

Pop was riding high in the saddle but you need to get in there with feeler gauges and sandpaper and various other tools and fine tune the little thing. You'll get it. BLESSINGS to AZLL Yall!

That seat is sorta super elevated...wow. It seems like the front tires are too small also. My A originally had that power lift rockshaft thing in the back; but I swapped it for the power-trol...much better. Definitely a looker😊

Check out the history on those spoked front wheels. I was told once buy a collector friend that the unstyled G never came from the factory equipped that way, but I don't know about the A. For that matter I wonder how the rear wheels where originally equipped? Nice old tractor anyway.
@jonelsonster14 күн бұрын
When it comes to these old Unstyled tractors I'm clueless with what was original configuration. 😅 My favorite look is the round spoke wheels. But I also like the solid cast rear rims. They're pretty unique. Not a huge fan of the flat spoke cut off wheels. This is, by no means, a rare tractor... So I'm more concerned about functionality and looks over originality. But it's always fun to see a real original tractor. They just cost $$

I have info on a 830 industrial. Would more than likely be a parts tractor, but could be put back together.

@@smilespergallon1989 I saw one on marketplace in Idaho about 3 hours from me. Really cool machine, but I kinda felt the guy was asking a little more than I'd be willing to pay. Was that the one you saw? Or was there another one?

That is a nice addition to your collection. Would this tractor originally have spoked rear wheels, either round or flat?
@jonelsonster16 күн бұрын
I'm not sure what the tractor originally came with, but from talking with friends who know more about this topic than I do, solid wheels like this were available starting in 1936. The wheel centers have "JD" cast on the inside of the wheel, so they're from Deere. And since they are 10 spline axles, they couldn't have come from a later styled tractor... So it's possible these are original to the tractor.

You do yer own music? Edit: had to the same thing when i got my 70 home, oil change and carb repair. Also the main power needle was glued in place so the tractor smoked like a diesel with a seized turbo. Price at JD for a new power needle was $487.00 I got a buddy that lets me use his lathe so i fixed it for the price of a 20 minute drive and #6 screw. Thank goodness for good buddies. Nice tractor though. Looking forwad to updates on it!

Finding a way to fix things yourself is always the best way to save $$! I do my editing and I choose the music. KZbin has a large selection of music that creators can use that do not require attribution. So that's what I use.

I need to replace the primary gears on my 36 with ones from my 37 donor. Keeps popping out of gear too. Need to address that. Runs like a top though. Does yours have a rubber fan hub? I did the conversion on mine.

Yes sir that's a good looking old tractor you have there. I believe that number carburetor is for an all fuel tractor. i have a 48 john Deere A and it has the fifty series carburetor which is for gas, but my tractor is originally an all fuel tractor. I see quite a few differences between this 1936 A and my tractor which is a styled unit.I still use the old tractor to mow my back yard on my little itty bitty place and occasionally for grading the driveway. 🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@jonelsonster14 күн бұрын
The correct carburetor I think should be a dltx 18. But they're all pretty much the same. The main difference I noticed right away was the choke configuration. Most (if not all) hand start Deeres have a choke that goes from about 7:30 to 10:30. The electric start choke levers go from 9:00 to 12:00 and are operated by a rod.
