To me the original 8 series is one of the most beautiful cars ever. I love the 850 CSi and the Alpina 5.7 B12 Coupe. Those Alpinas go for crazy money nowadays.

The 850CSi had about 380hp and 550nm... I appreciate the 850i and 850Ci weren’t as powerful and the M8 obviously is an amazing masterpiece...

The entire 8 series is an 'Unsung Hero' of sort. The car was gorgeous, very comfortable and quite fast. It was one of the nicest car ever. But it didn't sell. This make for a future collectible. The 850 CSI already is as it was the "almost M" version with the bigger 5.6l 375 hp motor, a 6 speed manual and even some pieces sporting the M. The 8 series is like the Ferrari 400/412 (another really gorgeous car), to long , to heavy, not enough sporty etc.. It didn't sell well but nowadays some people do it justice.

BMW said the final version could have had up to 640hp: "Top performance was highest priority during development: the M version of the E31 coupe would have rolled onto the road at the beginning of the 1990s with up to 640 hp"

3:21 the m70 was Designed by A Fischer so was the V16 Paul Rosch Design M Motors like the S70/2 which was used in the m8 and f1

Great vid and yes a great car, shades of m1. Sad thing is Bmw are a very different now. Bmw v12 is a strong engine, man even there 2L had no problem moving off in 2nd gear from stand still. Love those engines.

It was at Goodwood FoS last year. Awesome to see but it was hidden away in the BMW area, behind awful barriers.
