Just a note on the "start FpsVR" workflow that I showed mid-way through, you might not even need to do that part... you might be able to just hit "Launch SteamVR" in Virtual Desktop and that should connect the Quest 2 into SteamVR. Either way its not a massive thing, I quite liked having the FpsVR panel anyway it's useful info to have! - And the video is broken up into timeline chapters if you just want to see the VR bit at the end.

I'd like to use a VR headset to design parts in Inventor, not just look at finished assemblies. Kind of like a giant monitor that fills my field of view.

got maya vr to work. But had to check here if others are having issues with Quest 2 not linked to all the vive buttons.

I noticed most Steam games showed up with Vive controllers back when V.D. had just introduced game streaming with the SideQuest mod for Quest 1; the bindings are all there it's just different visually. This is super cool!! Would this also work for Inventor or Fusion?

Nope its a Maya plugin, there's currently no VR for Inventor or Fusion unless you use a completely separate independent program and import the files i.e. Vred

What if you just use oculus meta link on pc instead of using virtual desktop and having to download the streamer

Dear brother, may I know, if I have VRED professional and OCULUS GOOGLE for VR, do I need additional software to connect between VRED and OCULUS, or it can be automatically used without additional software.

Not sure what Oculus Google is, those are two completely different companies. But if you subscribe to Vred you automatically get the integrated VR connectors, no additional software needed. You can subscribe to Vred, buy an Oculus Quest 2, and you've got what you need right there.

Thanks for showing a virtual desktop solution and it is impressive the oculus can hold its fps untethered! I hope I am not asking too much but is it possible to use recap pro to make a custom environment in fusion 360? I would be delighted to be able to make a model on my desktop and let people hop into the world to just look around Thanks so much for all the work you put into figuring your virtual desktop solution out!

Explain more. Are you basically wanting a VR scene using a F360 model inside a recap point cloud?

@@Neil3D I don't know too much about recap's point cloud but that sounds very much like what I am looking for! So if making a 3D model of a counter top, cabinet, lamp, etc for one's home, could we take a scan of the room and plug our design in and look at it through the oculus. I'm not sold on modeling with oculus remotes but looking around and maybe rotating an object like you did in maya would be incredibly useful to get a sense of scale or if the color matches the room's aesthetic

Is it not possible to use virtual desktop with a360 to view an inventor model in first person mode. I only want a viewer as such not to design I'm vr. Sorry for my nievity I'm just looking at whether a quest 2 would be handy for me.

Sadly Maya is not part od product collection, I wonder if workflow Inventor - > 3ds Max - >VR would work? Don't have headset to test

Yep this wouldn't apply to PDMC, I'll see if I can find a decent VR workflow that fits entirely within that tho

Autodesk is the worst when it comes to stock environments, and lack of customization control is frustrating to say the least.

I've added chapters now. If I just uploaded this and started it at 10:42 it would be disliked into the ground for not showing how to do it and set it up, and the set up is what it is.
