Oddly enough, in a deleted subplot Andrew's softball team wins the French intramural championship, leading to a tear-jerker of a scene where he dedicates the season to the memory of his fallen teammate, Saul.

Oh...My...God. The Melodrama not only won, but it turned out to be creepier and more disturbing than any of the actual horror films on the poll. I haven't been this horrified at a film you've done since Old Fashioned. Say what you will, at least all these Melodramas have been... somewhat memorable. For completely the wrong reasons, but still.

Saw and Scream are fairly solid. Everyone with even a moderate interest in 1980's horror has seen Phantasm and can tell you why it's weird. Non-pornographic, deep dives into the forgotten fringe of cinema are Snob's most compelling stuff, even more so when it's a genre that hasn't gotten a lot of heat for its turkeys. Most people can diagnose a shitty 60's sci-fi, for example. A troubled 80's romance movie takes a more refined touch.

Great point and precisely why I actually watched this film. I wanted to hear the Barry score and how it was utilized (and sadly, yes, wasted). What a shame as one can see the care that MGM lavished by such touches as having John Barry score the film, the excellent camerawork and editing, terrific scenes of Paris, etc. Note to studio: spend more money for better scripts.

@@TheMellowFilmmaker I think he married her for position at the bank and NOT necessarily bcz he loved her. SAD when ppl marry for “business” and not bcz they truly care for one another. The movie seem to imply that she knew that he was having various affairs (adultery) but as long as he was discreet - she did not mind/or want to know about it. It is evident he had sex with his wife too - they had children. Wow! what a horrible marriage/life.

I swear you should cover Sweet November. I watched that in 9th grade with a couple of sappy teenagers, a movie I wouldn't be caught dead watching on my own, and it was ehhhhh....harmless, but so cheesy, it gave me cavities. I'd love it if you reviewed it. Sure, it's not from the 70s or 80s, but it is almost 20 years old, so it's definitely dated. I still remember the hot dog scene. The one in which Keanu was trying to pitch this EXTREME hot dog advertisement and got fired over it? I think he got fired. Anyway, I request the movie only about a year after you already reviewed this creepfest. (not nearly as terrifying as 365 Days though) HA. It's almost 365 days since you reviewed Until September. Imagine that. Please review Sweet November, if only for the nostalgia. Haha.
