This is my first full cover of one of my brother's band's songs!! I’ve wanted to cover of one of their songs for a while. There’s so many songs to choose from - they are an awesomely dynamic band. This song inspires me to never give up. Thanks to my brother Matthew for giving me permission to cover your guys’ song!

It's funny, I was rewatching the old "One-Winged Angel" cover by String Player Gamer a few minutes ago, and then at the end of the video, I suddenly saw a name in the credits : "Michelle Heafy". I thought "No way, could she be related to Matthew Kiichi Heafy???". And after asking for the help of my friend (Google), it turns out you are, and I found your YT channel and this video. I've been a Trivium fan for many years and I've seen them live more than a dozen times (back when live concerts were still a thing...), but I had no idea Matt also had such a talented sister. This is a really cool example of how doing less is more in some situations. This is a vocal that could easily have ten vocal tracks the whole way through for added power, but by leaning on a central track supported by simple harmonies earlier on, the larger choral progression later on stands out way more and has so much more impact. Moreover, the choice to use some of those tracks for the effect of instrumentation instead of just as lyrics really hammers home the impact of the bridge/solo. Considering just how powerful the instrumentation is in the original track, it's a really awesome contrast to see a pure and consistent vocal tone produce this much dynamic range. Many people who would try this would create something too forced and would lose a lot of the qualities that make the original piece powerful. Not a single bit of the original 'sonder' is lost in this cover, and it was in that quality I felt the intention of this cover held the most true. It's also really awesome to see you supporting your brother and his work through this cover. I had heard of Trivium and listened to some of their music prior to hearing this, but I didn't realize your brother was in the band. It's really heartwarming to see how much the two of you support each other's work. Truth be told, I think a collaboration in both of your production styles would each be really great! Whether that's you with heavy backing instrumentation, or Matt singing with straight-tone, both, or even just one at a time. I think there's space for both to work well together and it'd be really exciting to see something like that! Like I could definitely imagine a Michelle piercing harmony echoing through a track like this, or a Matt chorus backing to one of your melodies. I dunno, the possibilities seem really exciting! Enough that I'm ranting again = P
